I´m per se a rather (very) shy person. An introvert.
This is why I mostly make a stupid face as soon as the camera is out - but this pic I kinda like.
That way, being shy, I really managed to screw some chances I won´t ever get again - did you, too?
I still can´t believe I did that! Today, way over 10 years later I wouldn´t do that, I´d take the risk.
I´d like to travel back in time, like really.
We just talked about it the other day, Ingo and I.
That´s us in Broome :-)
Dang, if I´d told him what I wanted to do, he´d done it for me - but I kept my mouth shut, stupid me!
In 1999 we got stuck in Eneabba due to flooding.
Thanks to neighbourhood watch we didn´t wake up with water in the car on the rest Area, but at around 2 am were rescued and went into "town´s" safety.
The next day a roadtrain parked right beside us. Ya know one of the big ones.
Out jumped a rather small man with a very red face, angry about all the money he looses with this little stop-over.
He was stuck as we all were - why didn´t I just ask.... can I see the driver's cab? Maybe he´d let me even turn on the truck ... or let me drive a few meters!
Or he could´ve screamed at me to leave him the hell alone.
In December that year we "wanted" to sell our car on the private car market in Freo (so not!!! If I had the money... in this pic he finally was sold).
People were running at our car (was such a great one!) and then past our car.
So we followed them.
And just around the corner was the USS Constellation on it´s very last journey, open to public!!!
Back then, before 9/11, you could even take pics!
Certainly that was before digicams were available and since we didn´t know of the event, we didn´t have our large Minolta with us.
Which is not that "chance of a lifetime".
You were allowed to see all the public areas.
I just could´ve asked if I may see where they sleep, live and all that.
Ingo reckons someone would´ve showed me around.
Am I dumb or what?!!!!
Hehe... see our car behind that truck? Obviously it wasn´t that big after all.
Sweet times, despite the lost chances.
I just hope I´ve learned enough out of this to ask boldly next time!
Reach for the stars...
