I´m A Cheapy, Food-Wise

Monday started with... an early brekkie.
And a good-bye-loop in the roundabout after J stored all our luggage.

The elderly woman to our left said loudly, we´ve been on many a bus journey, but never have we laughed that much on one!.
Someone from behind agreed, so healthy!.
Whereas J said, I hope you don´t laugh AT me ;-), which was answered by a collective nooooo! from the first rows (all without the mike).

I guess we were very, very lucky with this group for a first, huh?

A last time we passed J´s beloved-hated tollboth (that kept his autostrada-card) and on we went to a farm again.

See title... we got safran in noodles, in cheese, I tasted no-thing. As Gary Larson in one of his cartoons states, don´t eat parsley, just for good-looking - we did not buy anything there.

Was yummy, but nothing too special. Maybe only nonno Duilio was missing ;-)

Enzo´s car looked fine:

Ohhh, I havent seen the movie in ages, yet when Ingo said, look, Enzo!, I knew before turning around a Fiat 500 is coming up!
Yah. We´re an oooold couple, I know :-)

On we went to San Gimignano, the "Manhatten of the Middle Ages".

SIL (from Ingo´s side) had been there ages ago and was all awww and ohhh, San Gimignano...

Well. Me.... rather not - despite we had a guided tour, which they had not.
Or maybe because of???

At least at times I felt quite at home there, they had heaps of these...

On we went to San Vincenzo.
Or rather, through, on the way to the ocean, to Park Hotel I Lecci.

And... guess what?
Yep.
We missed it, LOL.

See a pattern here? ;-)

When we finally arrived J drove through the really small roundabout. Twice :-)

Another hotel with a bidet but no window, no aircon...

But an ocean for a change!
Would I have loved to have Adriano Celentano´s Azzurro on the bus, but G sadly didn´t have it...

Ahhh, Italia!

If you care about the salad-thingy, please read the comment to this post - thanks Grace, I am a happy salad now (still a tad afraid of Big´s words not coming true...)

Ohhh I haven't seen those Fiat's 500 for ages...
I like the photo of the buildings with the clothes lines, so typical of some European countries.

You reminded me of our first bus tour in Germany - from Braunschweig to Paris, with the two of us the only non-Germans on the bus. We had been in Germany for 3 or 4 months so our German was terrible...I think we missed a lot of the jokes as we couldn't get the punchline. But it was still fun and seeing Paris for the first time even better!

That Chianti would have gone well with my spaghetti tonight. :-)

@ Sami: From Braunschweig to Paris :-)
Was it a bus-tour like we did? But you also traveled in a VW-bus, right, or do I mix something up here?
@ Revrunner: yum!

Thanks for sharing this second look on the 2nd, Iris. I thought the Lion knockers were beautiful. I would also like some olive oil and saffron.

San Gimignano is a lovely place — Once I had the opportunity to just drive around Tuscany without a plan and I suddenly found myself there. Fun — your trip back then looks great.

A bus trip is great if you are lucky enough to have a nice crowd. In the year 2000 we went on a coach trip in the US (Tauck Tours) to see the canyons and other places of natural beauty. It was fantastic. (And we had a nice bunch of people)
Toscana is lovely but overrated in my opinion (as is Chianti).
Love the door knockers.
Hugs,
Lisca

Elizabeth, again thank you! For looking and finding such "old trasures" :-)

Mae, yes, it´s a great idea to cruise that area. Glad we had the group, though.

Lisca, we were SO lucky with that group!
Tuscany was nice but I would be eager to see more and USA is on my list still, too, hugs!

Erika, it was great indeed - oh, there are so many places to visit (and yet we end up in Perth again!)
Hugs and to a great day
