Brain, How Are You?

Funny what kind of genes parents give to their children at times. Funny how the brain alternates. Or the body picks genes from both sides.

My Father was a hectical man and mostly I take after him, his eye-color, his hands, strong stomach, softly bumping into something leaving me with a bruise already, being very easily up early... but hectical? Not so much?
People come to me to share their sorrows.
For weeks now I had listened to "Iris K´s" Mother slowly dying. She suffered severly of Alzheimer´s and finally passed away last Monday.
Saturday was the funeral and my colleague told me everything about it on Monday.

Monday to Tuesday I was in my old hometown.
Downstairs, the door to the garage was open. My Dad was standing there. Usually when I dream of my parents they are like 50% opacity but this time he was fully there. He didn´t say anything, just looked at me.
It was raining heavily and people outside were fighting over parking space.
All the while I knew I am dreaming and that Ingo is right beside me in bed.

(Pic: each year for the festival my Dad would grow this beard just to get rid off it right after.)
I wondered the next morning why I dreamed of him and not Mum, after all I just "witnessed" a Mum being buried.

My brain was just ahead of time!
When I see numbers they are strong, so when I ripped off the old day of my calendar this morning and saw #8... Yepp. Dad would´ve turned 79 today.

Crazy, no.
The sweets in first pic? As my Dad (and mostly Mum, too) I don´t like sweets (much).

06:30 am colleague B comes in and there is noise at the secretary´s place.
He proceeds to my office and with a big grin says, "happy International Women´s Day! I put sweets on the desk for the occasion :-)"

Somehow no surprise a man has to tell me of the day being women´s day.

Oh, brain, sometimes I wonder how you tick.

Happy Birthday Dad. Soon it´ll be 15 years you´re gone. Still it hurts on days like these.
Thanks for not giving me this crazy gene. I hate dressing up ;-)

Yes I'm ok, thank you. I just found it astonishing that I dreamed of him shortly before his birthday...
