Days Like That, "g"! And T´s Men´s Day
Yipeee. A job offer, here in Braunschweig!!!!
I learned from "Team Inga", actually a Mrs W, you are not allowed to send more than one .pdf-file.
OK.
Found an open source program. All ready to merge. Did. Worked.
But. What is this?! In my vitae a "g" had sneaked in!!
The company I did my training at got a "g"!!!
And it´s a Braunschweig company, too, it´s known locally there is no "g" in their name.
Oh, and I should update the date, also.
You can not apply as software-tester and have a "g", or any other stupid error in it, can you?!!!!
Open source writing program open again, get rid off the "g", correct date. Turn into .pdf.
OK.
NO! The "g" was still there!!
Empty cache ..Nope. "g".
In the .pdf, not in the original, how can that be?!
Opened again, created a new .pdf with new name.
"g".
New name in document, opened it, created a .pdf with yet another name and changed the source.
"g".
New file... "g".
Copy paste and try new? No. Open source program, not possible.
Another open source program, same procedure...
Test in different browsers with the .pdf... "g"!!!!
Copy to my Laptop.
"g".
I was nearly into tears.
Ingo came home late but helped me out.
WiFi-problem? Ingo is in another room...
Too late to send now, but I got it!!!
02:something a.m.... I woke and realised I´d forgotten to enter the ID of the job, how dumb can one be????
Ingo´d not only given me the document on a stick but the program as well, so I fell asleep in hopes all´ll go well.
Changed the document, created .pdf, YAY, worked, new day, new luck!
But. The program from the stick did not.
OK, Copy to PC. Nope. OK, but I have the NAME of the program, right? Different to Windows 7, but I got it. Worked.
Oh, wonderful. I wrote "It´d be great if we could meet in person in these times."
Yep. What if the boss gets it in 4 weeks?!
Start at zero and add the word "Corona". I checked twice I did not write "Corinna"!
Finally hit send, explaining I need confirmation due to the .pdf.
BOOM - confirmations is right there!
BOOM. When can I start, how much money do I expect and, please sign this .pdf and you can send it back via e-mail.
Which reads," if you send via snail mail, you´re out".
Searched for another program to EDIT a .pdf-file. And got one where you can put a fax to .pdf.
A FAX!!! WHAT????
Did I accidentially made a time warp to the 1980´s????
Finally managed to get a program that worked, more or less, OH BOY!
Meanwhile I´d asked Ingo about the darn money-thing and to make sure called my old company, too, for help.
My Mum used to say ... hmmm... "the way you shout into the woods, the way it comes out!".
E. was happy to help me, looked my data up, told me what she knows. Oh, I miss that company!!! As in workplace and persons.
I got it all out, got an answer at once, it´s all accepted with my crooky signature I produced with that open source thingy, my... looks like I´m a four-year old!!!
Can you write with the mouse???
No high hopes here.
I start again as career changer, I am shy, I cannot sell myself well.
BOY, this was STRESS!
As said, I think I have a mild depression, the more it was stress to me, but: no meds here on this EVER again!
Don´t you hate days like that, and the night even, too?
My T told me of the anti-stress blanket, and we use it, you have pressure on your body, as if someone hugs you tight all night.
It´s wonderful, but I sometimes don´t wake up when Ingo goes to work, thinking in my sleep he´s still there. More stress in the aftermath.
I let Inga Mrs W know hours ago I sent the application. No answer... And they can throw me out of the program if I do not react within three days, too.
That "g". Henry, please eat it! Just imagine it´s a yummy "gnu" ;-)
Weee. Lessons learned!
Addendum!!!
I was wondering why my T referred to today as "Herrentag", "men´s day".
In the news they said "Herren- oder Vatertag".
In East Germany they called it "men´s day", in West Germany here it´s "Father´s Day".
Can you believe that?! 31 years later, after the wall fell it´s still East and West Germany!!!! How sad, or is it? Good to keep traditions?
Doesn´t matter this year, thanks to Corinna?

Maybe, just maybe ... can the G be "GOOD LUCK"? !!! Too bad that was not an H, from "my dear Hathi" LOL
A little big HUG for you, have a "Gorgeous" day! xoxo
Ella, that´s a very good thought, but then... I had to remove the "g"!!!
Now I somehow want it back in there! OK, there are other "g"s in there, right? And "h"s, too :-)
A little BIG hug to you, Hathi xoxo
As I always say if ends well than it's all well. . . Have a Nice and Safe Day. . . :)
Manav, if it was that easy. For now let´s all have a nice, safe day :-)
...FABULOUS news about the job offer, I hope that all works out well for you!
We´ll see, I´m more the realist..
Such great news, keeping my fingers crossed for you☺
Hurrah for the job offer! That is very exciting! I hope it works out, and if not, I believe it's because there will be something better ahead. (OK easier to write than to make happen but in these times one must be optimistic.) Hugs-Erika
Natalia and Erika, thank you, I try to be positive.
...
That really is good news Iris, I have my fingers and toes crossed for you ✨ You know P made a huge career change in his mid forties, he wasn't enjoying the corporate world, so changed to teaching, was the best thing he ever did 💜
Good on you! And wishes to Ingo for a Happy Men's/Father's day!
Grace, thank you, oh I changed so often, IT is so quick, I hope it works out, g.... ;_)

magiceye, ha, just men´s day, despite we´re West Germans, a BBQ coming up :-)
Great news about the job Iris, fingers crossed!
Fax, yes from the 80's, but can you believe here in Australia in the medical profession the fax is still used on a daily basis? Ridiculous, no when we have email and other ways to transmit medical records, letters, etc!
Even hospitals used it to send us the discharge summaries of patients that went to hospital, or had operations...
Oh Iris I am super super happy for you for the job offer! Please give us updates about it if you can :) I will be praying that it all goes well for you Iris! I'm very happy!
By the way, thank you so much for linking your post about siblings to Timeless Thursdays! It was a delight to read and see pictures of you and your younger brother! They are precious! I left a comment on your post just in case you wanted to see it. And also thank you for the beautiful passages you have translated for us! Oh how I wish I understand languages including German because I really like the music of Mark Forster, not sure if you know him but he's a judge at The Voice Germany and I love his music and he seems like a cool guy too! Even if I cannot understand German, I still listen to his German songs because I really like the melodies and translating the lyrics they are nice as well :)
Happy Friday soon Iris! (27 minutes here until Friday starts haha
Sami, same here, doctors still have fax!!!
"Frightening!" Don´t they keep up with technology???
____
Stevenson, LOL, I had to look up Mark Forster!
Glad you liked the book I wrote about, and wee.
I feel glad I can choose if I want to listen to music or not!
German I have no choice and there are sooooo many dumb songs!
I missed out on Thursday, a happy Friday to you :-)
This thing about the G made me laugh. After all, my blog name is Gigi. Anyway, congratulations on the job offer.
Good, Great, Glorious! The G's are all good except in a pdf. :) Hope you hear the news soon and it is GREAT!
Good day to you, Iris! Heavy rain headed our way tonight and tomorrow. :(
Too Funny - I Just Called A Guy The Other Day And His Voice Mail Said To Hit 3 For A Fax - Cracked Me Up - Always An Interesting Post - Have A Wonderful Weekend
Cheers
So happy you have a job offer. What a relief!
Those signature thingies? I hate them - mine come out looking like a baby scribble :)
Take care, Mxx
Oh, Iris, that had to be so frustrating! I would have gone wild with frustration and irritation! But look at you! A job offer and in Braunschweig! I'm very excited for you and hope it all works out exactly as you hoped and dreamed! Three Cheers!
Interesting take on G.
Loved the way you built a post around it.
Have a great day ahead!
It a GREAT post and did read it right, look you have new job? I thought the stress blanket was interesting
Odd that you kept getting a G where you didn't want one.
I hope you get the job and I love the lion stick, all mine are just plain, stick shaped. I do have one my brother sent me long ago with 1700 books on it, the top is a sealed globe with a kangaroo and the company logo swimming in it, from the company he was working for at the time.
Good!
gigi, LOL! Luckily you do not drive me nuts!
____
Oh, Bill, thank you, maybe I´ll be lucky. Icky weather here, too!
___
Padre a fax!!!! Oh, boy!
___
Margaret, so I´m not alone. I´ll ask my Niece for the next signature! ;-)
____
Jeanie, thank you, if all goes well I´ll be super-fit 10+ km one way!
____
Indrani, thank you, I get creative, I guess, when frustration takes over ;-)
____
Dora, sadly, no, just an invitation... let´s see. Stress blanket in use!
____
River, I can try and have a look if they still have a Henry-stick, if positive and you like to have one, give me your address :-)
