Leaving off from yesterday... you see for kilometers when another car is on the (gravel-) road, and you greet and you know 100% if you have a problem they stop and help.
Well, two cars once stopped to help, if I remember right.
A lizard was on a paved, or as Indigenous People say - "bitumen-" road and we and some Aborigines stopped to get him/her off.
"It" got like real angry and showed us a blue tongue.
Sorry dude, we wanted to save your life!!!

Sometimes they drag along houses or huts as well - on any roads.
Certainly always (!.. OK... twice) I was the driver, not funny, as sometimes there is not enough space.
Once the whole crew had to stop so I can overtake and Ingo THEN said, "yupp, there was not enough space..." ARGH. I felt so dumb and was not... (It was a paved road with those reflector posts and they were "too fast" for overtaking).
Really, if we´d had today´s technology I could SMASH you with pics!

Our car got thirsty inbetween at times - we always had enough to provide.
"He" was a cutie-pie.
Really, this was the time of my life and I so miss we could not visit our friends in Perth this year. And in this crazyness of Corinna, who knows when or if we can again.

I am very glad you stopped your car to rescue a lizard. I am an animal lover and, in case, I do it the same. it doesn't matter which animal it is.
I am sure that Australia is an amazing Country and I understand why you miss it.

I like to visit Australia in the winter when temperatures are reasonable. I was scheduled to go in July last year, again in July this year, and it is far from certain it will be possible in July next year. COVID has sure messed with our lives.

So nice you saved the blue tongued lizzard. I saw so many dead wallabies on our recent Darwin trip, it's very sad.
Hopefully next year we will all be back to normal. The East Coast is opening up to travel from November, but WA will probably be only from April 2022.
It was wonderful you saved the lizard. Good for you. One of these days you and Ingo will be able to return to Australia and have digital remembrances.

Glad to hear you are on the mend. Your trip to OZ sounds like it was an awesome adventure.
Good to know that you are recovering and very soon your chin will not be hurting. I will be too scared to notice the colour of the lizard's tongue. There was once when we were driving on a dirt road and a big monitor lizard was taking its time to cross the road. Fortunately, there was no other car and we just stopped the car and waited for it to cross before we drove on.
Love all those past memories. I look forward to when we will be able to travel freely again.
I'm glad the blue-tongue didn't bite you. They are NOT poisonous, but when they bite they really hang on hard!
We have colonies of blue-tongue lizards living here in the gardens around the flats, they come out on hot days and sunbake on the footpaths and driveways, but some people don't see them and a few get killed by cars. There are far fewer now than when I first moved in.
Erika, yes, the street is warm, so they love to be on it on cooler days. Or whatever that lizard was doing there! Maybe just went for a walk! ;-) Hugs!

Oh, sad. They are so "stupid", I saw that on our travels, too. Especially at night when the bitumen is still warm they decide to sleep there. Till the next road-train... and next morno you see them dead on the side of the road.

I havent been to Australia in literally 30 years, last time was a 2 week holiday in Brisbane. From the look of your photos almost looks like you're in the outback but then I remembered Perth has a desert too.
