Currywurst Makes Us Happy

Please give this a go - you likely don´t see people so happy about a ... Currywurst!
This one is one of his best or most popular songs and he pretends to have forgotten the text (it starts at 01:50 for real)

The song begins with:

"Gehste inne Stadt, watt macht dich da satt - ne Currywurst!"

Herbert Grönemeyer is from Bochum and sings slang - it means:

"Gehst du in die Stadt, was macht dich da satt - eine Currywurst!"

"You go into the city what will fill you up - a currywurst" - Bon Appetit!

When I worked for Volkswagen the first years we were inside the plant.
Every Thursday our VW-boss sent this song around cause Thursday was "Currywurst-day" and we all, also us externals went!

From every office you heard that song, oh, boy what a waste of data and what fun!!!

Later when we´d moved the VW-colleague who bought our moped secretly gave me a card with which I payed the VW-price at the canteen (externals pay 50% more) and Tuesday was... "Currywurst-day"!

I have eaten soooo much Currywurst it´s hard to believe - luckily later they had mini-Currywurst, other I gave pieces to colleagues cause by no means can I eat such a whole wurst!

In case you didn´t know: Volkswagen produces it´s own currywurst and also a special ketchup.
You can buy this in this region in some stores, Braunschweig, Wolfsburg. Likely or maybe also in Kassel, Emden, Salzgitter, Hannover... wherever in Germany you find a VW-plant.

And when I saw this sign in the city... Boy. I´d like a Currywurst now!
Are you hungry?

Guess what Ingo and I had at ALSTOM... (teamleader and his girlfriend had cake).

This certainly is for Tom´s Signs2.

... no  fries for us...

P.S. the second sign the audience holds up is another fav of mine, Musik nur wenn sie laut ist  - I´ll show you another time.

Addendum: I thought this is known, turned out it is not: Currywurst is a German specialty. Curry per se is certainly in many dishes, but this Currywurst  people even fight over the origin...

A song about a curry sausage, that's funny! I don't eat much curry, hardly ever, I used to make it when I had the hubby and kids at home, he always liked a curry after a night drinking in the officer's mess, said it helped clear his head.

Yes, beer and currywurst is in the song, too! LOL! Also what happens if it is too much...
It´s really a fun song - if you understand German, other the melody is nice! Happy.

Oh my, currywurst and beer? It sounds like a great combination to set off unmentionable noises! :))

Nancy you can´t get Currywurst?!

___

Margaret, glad we always had it with a softdrink at work!!! ;-)
I think in this song they had too much beer. The Currywurst ended up on the shirt and the jacket...!

...Herbert Grönemeyer seems to be a hit with the crowd!!! Currywurst is new for me. Thanks Iris for stopping by.

Tom... what?! You didn´t know Currywurst? I´m a little shocked! ;-)

Curry is a universal flavor! In Britain there are all sorts of curry dishes, currently featuring the famous Coronation Chicken. In the Caribbean there is jerk seasoning in several delicious dishes. In the US all kinds of curries are popular. I tried currywurst once, but it’s too fatty for me: I generally don’t like sausage much. But it’s amazing that there’s even a VW version.

No, Currywurst is a German speciality. I thought that was known. It is unclear where it originated - likely Berlin.
I´ll add a link. Sorry, my bad!

Nicole, half a wurst is OK. Or a mini-one.
Yes, Volkswagen produces more than cars! And that wurst is high quality, too.

My comment seems to have disappeared but I have never heard of currywurst either. I could go for one right now.

Oh, blogger and it´s hiccups!!!
Yes, take a VW-one, really good quality :-)
Maybe better than the cars (kidding, always loved my company-cars).

Yes you can have this Currywurst in Salzgitter too. I miss it now! I would so like to be able to be in Salzgitter-Lebenstedt and go shopping for Knödel, Stollen, Printen and other German food I totally miss, and end up having a currywurst there.

Charlotte, Ingo works in Salzgitter (but for funktel).
Is it allowed to send food to you? If so I could send you a "care-parcel,"...

Elizabeth, it´s more a "cult" here. But luckily a yummy one!
