Finally

The other morning I went through this.

Fog in the city is very seldom!

I danced for joy!

(Great, sad movie). Sadly we never saw a Frilled lizard for real.

If you really have time on your hands here is the inspiring story behind the movie (we´ve been in all the places (almost), which makes it double special for us and I had teamleaders and have friends like these very nice dudes:

The new series:

"These inventions are older than you think

Internet

The 1960s may be better known for social upheaval and counterculture than for social media and online culture, but the truth is that the history of the Internet begins right here. In 1969, a group of computer scientists developed the ARPANET, named after ARPA, the Advanced Research Projects Agency of the US Department of Defense. While it took decades of progress to develop the Internet we surf today, this first widespread computer network was a necessary first step on the road to endless cat videos and carpool karaoke."

I love the Priscilla movie and it has sad parts, but overall it isn't a sad movie.
I have a vague memory of learning about ARPANET somewhere somehow, maybe in a movie. Maybe in "Hidden Figures"? Another favourite movie.

I did not like (or maybe understand) Priscilla. But I love fog, in my city too

River, this is scary! I have "Hidden Figures" right here, wanting to watch it today!!!!
Yes, Priscilla had fun scenes, too! Coober Pedy gave me the creeps, though. When we were there there was a guy who heard Ingo and I are German and gave us the Hitl#r-greeting. Of course we were talking German, we had no Aussie friends in 1995 yet! And by no means will I talk English to Ingo with no friends who don´t speak German, right?
"Hidden Figures" I look forward to!

Priscilla... you cannot choose whom to love. And Australia back in the day was very, very prude. But you need people to fight for your rights! That´s what the movie is about. If you love your same sex, that´s it.
Yet. My friend still waits till she reveals she has a family with a woman. Sad.
One of them in the movie has a Son and an Ex-wife and they both support him, that is wonderful.
Too dark to see if there is fog today. Nice to know you love it, also!

We had fog last Thursday, and it's been rainy and dreary every day after. At least it's not snow.

Iris Flavia said...

Lucky you, not in years here!

And Braunschweig!

Another grey day here, too... How?

Iris Flavia said...

Yes, at least no snow!

I have seen this movie several times. I really like it. Ohhh fog. You need to come visit me. We have fog almost every day in winter. LOL Iris, I just want to wish you and Ingo the very best for 2025.

That fog is so mystical. It's beautiful and so are your photos.

I've wanted to see that movie since I had tickets to the play version of it, but then it was 2020 and we know what happened then. We've had a lot of fog in the last couple of days because it's warmed up. But it's not going to last. The cold is due back. Enjoy the fog!hugs-Erika

Wish I could visit you, Nicole!!! I so miss fog and it would be so cool to finally go to your country (Ingo plans to!) To a great 2025!

Iris Flavia said...

Yes, it was so wonderful! I really did a (very little) happy dance.

I only had the fog on the way to work in the village and often stopped the car to enjoy :-)
Yes, watch the movie, it is bitter-sweet and you see Australia. And maybe, if you don´t already know, learn.

Iris Flavia said...

Oh, lucky you, Bill! Share fog-pics?

Iris Flavia said...

Erika, maybe the movie would be a better choice? Yes we were "due" end of 2019 for Australia and then.... 1C here, brrr, likely no fog. But when again, I´ll share, hugs!
And really. Thanks to Covid we are allowed to work from home - always try to find the good!
