As mentioned I´d booked our Cabin a year in advance and we got an "upgrade"... again.
I hate those upgrades as usually they´re the opposite.
See, Ingo shaves here in front of the only mirror and without a basin. For water he went to the kitchen sink. Well, you make more steps like that!
The loo-door I closed for Ingo with the portable heater as it opened itself, a sliding door worth it´s name!
But what when you´re alone?
Of course Ingo came up with a proper idea.
I told the new manager and she looked at me as if I was nuts. I mean as in: We do not ask for help, Ingo solved the problem! I told them so they do not wonder.
Yes, upgrade. All new, nice, looks good but is not... oh forget it.
To the left you see where you put your towel.
Problem is... the shower-door opens to that side...
Huge wardrobe. Just... you could not hang a robe in there as it had 5 compartments!
So, if you have a dress (I didn´t)... improvise to hang it!
We had an extractor hood to the right beside the kitchen basin.
Ingo found a two-plates induction-stove in the drawer below....
OK, we don´t cook there anyways, but really, who designed that!
We went for...
Do the dishes and let them dry ... in the basin as there is the basin only. Sadly I forgot to take a pic but one good thing:
I used the microwave a couple of times.
Yes, me!!!!
In all other cabins that darn thing was high up and I had to ask for help - here it is on the kitchenette!
Thank you, someone thought of small people!!!
Also nice, at our ...
Kingsway City ... when you go to Big W / Thingz you still find:
I got that huhhh... 2017? I have them all, from Big W.
This time I with a heavy heart putting down the left one - the other I have:
But I got the book I ordered January 2025 - yes you read that correct, 2025... at amazon and never got. Big W... not a worry!
My Jamie-Selection :-) Actually I don´t need it as this man gives everything away for free on Facebook as he wants us to learn and have fun and live healthy!
But... You know...
We first saw Jamie 2015 on TV in Madeley/Perth and I LOVED his way of teaching!
He explains in detail and says, "just a suggestion, do it your way.".
And THAT is how I like to learn!
As it is Freo-productions with Freo being but 20-something km from Perth books and DVDs are much cheaper than in Germany and.... off I went!
Nah. let me say... I bought it out of respect. It´s a give and take, right?
We had a bumpy start with that cabin .. I might book it again.
At least it wasn´t "Ingo... Ingo!!! The door!"
In "our" cabin I often had the huge door in my hands and am too weak to put it back.
Sorry this turned to be soooo long!

...Iris, I sense that you have an obsession with Jamie Oliver!
He is a great teacher! But actually this was about the cabin, it was a rough start!
Good morning-too bad they didn't share photos of the cabin before you booked it-maybe next time ask them to send photos. hugs
Funny you, Kathy. It´s a wonder they can answer to an e-mail...
But really... if I had guests I´d at least check: Are there two chairs? Is there.... nada. Let´s see in two years...
But the birds... I filmed - to come!
Did you also scout out other locations for your next trip, just in case you decide to book elsewhere? Maybe next time bring a portable mirror for the sink. Good improvisation for Info, though!
The cabin looks very nice, but good thing you are problem solvers. Why do they let giant men install microwaves in kitchens? I have the same problem of reaching the micro when Teague and I go away. Usually I have to drag a chair over to stand on.
No, this is our "home away from home" since 1999.
Ingo later used is smartphone as mirror....
Yes, ESE... microwaves hiiiigh up, even (smaller) men complained!!! Chair is no option - I might slip and have the hot food all over me, too!
It sounds like they did a cheap reno of the cabin and didn't think things out, Iris.
Dear friend Iris, thank you so much or sharing these photos. Sending you lots of love ❤️ and hugs 🫂 🤗
I shared a couple of personal photos on my Thursday blog post.
Yes. No thinking, RedPat! "Upgrade...
Thank you, dear friend Linda, hopping over :-)
Good memories
Some.. ;-)
We LOVE watching Jamie here, he has some awesome easy recipes. I can't imagine a bathroom without a sink, it just doesn't make sense.
That upgrade looks more like a downgrade. Sorry it was a pain, but at least you were away from all the cold winter. And I love a great place to sit and read. And esepcially cookbooks. I hope it was a great Thrusday. I was out most of the day so I'm late stopping by. hugs-Erika
I don't think I would like that cabin at all, it sounds a bit inconvenient. Maybe they assume many people just want a place to sleep and they eat out at cafes and such? Or buy ready cooked food and just eat in the cabin, no cooking.
I have "Simply Jamie" but haven't cooked anything from the book yet, I had other Jamie books and gave them to son J, father of the twins.
Yes, Jamie is the best! Well for washing your hands the sink is enough - but only for that...
Yes, we always get such "upgrades" lately, but it was OK when you learn to improvise :-)
Sadder was... it was a cols summer even Perthies told me.
And yes, I often saw people there sitting and reading :-) Hugs to that!
Hihi, a bit inconvenient ;-)
Ingo used the public BBQ-place nearly each evening cause the steaks were cheap and very good - but I do not like gas-BBQ-goods... I admit... I haven´t cooked anything from either books yet, either cause... Jamie tught me to cook by my own "guts" - I just take his ideas and I promised onion-cakes to two people already,, argh - why do I do that?! LOL.... And that´s not even a recipe by Jamie...
