The Heat Is (Finally Really) On

Yes. Ingo loves pirates and stuff, this is our bedroom... the pirates and ghosts protect us from REAL ghosts, too... kidding (no, they do!), and yes, I need light when sleeping - and this one has the time, also, projected onto the ceiling!

Ahhhhhh. summer is really here - and yes, we have insect screening here - I love the heat.  I suffer, but I love it. River Oker makes our condo a sauna, but hmmmm, I still love it!

Sadly the days obviously are getting shorter, still dark when you get up, I hate that, but it´s life, huh...

Do you remember Gurri ?

She has a summer-Sister now!!!

She does a job as good - in the other way, giving me some "cool" ❄ in the beautiful 🌞.

 Henry? 🦁

He looooves summer, too!

And. I thank you all for your long comments to yesterday´s post!

I was 19, we went with bikes on top of my old Holden to France (not Ingo, ex-boyfriend) - I wanted to leave my car for free at a farmer - our goal was England by bike.

And,Granpa, at the farm I found, an old soldier was sitting at the other end of the farm-kitchen, where we were invited for supper.

I thought, great, now here we go about the bad Germans...

No. He served in WWII and knew I have nothing to do with that. He spoke in an accent I didn´t get.

He yelled his nice questions (where do you go, what are your plans - how do you do...) at me all the way over and his Son called over to me in "correct French" and I yelled back to Granpa. It was a huuuge kitchen!

This is what my last post was about.

Understanding.

Starting anew. Enjoying life! We are ONE PEOPLE! In theory...

The Mohr´s Head

Let´s talk about the Mohr - and I do not mean the circle of stress...

Well, but let´s have a look, shall we (or skip it 😅):

And now let´s be a little incorrect. In the political way.

Did you have that book? A "Mohr" is a "negro" in German. Ten little lessons on life, in a cute way, for kids.

Do something stupid and... you "die", from ten only one survived... The book is off the list, "forbitten".

Another example: We had "Zigeunersauce" , "gypsy-sauce", I grew up with it, paprika was the main ingredient . Name not allowed anymore it´s "racist" (it was but a sauce, in HONOUR of those people!!!!).

We had "Negerkuss", a "negroe´s kiss", in Germany... forbitten, it´s now called Chocolate kiss.

I remember in school we sneaked out and got a Negerkuss-Brötchen, a "Chocolate-coated marshmallow treat" in a a bun (ewwww, back then my sweet tooth was still awake).

Now, some groups in Germany go for this, call it "racist". One couple wanted to claim this at a restaurant called  "Zum Mohrenkopf" - "At the Mohr´s Head".

Let me tell you, you will laugh your head off!!!

In short: Andrew Onuegbu from Biafra in Africa got an invitation to study law at Boston University, but his parents were too poor.

He always loved everything German, "Made in Germany" made him happy, so instead he came here.

From being invited to study law he choose being a cook´s mate instead, in Kiel, Northern Germany. He always had an eye on what the chef did and once had to take her job and the guests LOVED his meals even more!

With financial help he made it to having his own restaurant and he named it "Zum Mohrenkopf"...

Why?

#1 In the Middle Ages in Germany it was an award for good food, given by "the Fürst", or prince. Like the Guide Michelin. It was cooked and served my a Mohr.

#2 He says he is a "Mohr" and he is proud of being it!

He lives here since 28 years and had but one bad experience - said couple came to his restaurant to complain about the restaurant´s name (the man was "black").

The man asked, "Brother, why do you work for the Naz#s?" - he replied he does not understand and they demanded to talk to the boss. "That would be me", he replied, but...

They did not believe him!!!

So, he answered, "OK, I go get the boss", went to the kitchen, checked the cooking, went back and said, "I am the boss, what can I do for you?".

They claimed he does not know what "Mohrenkopf" means! He does and explained why he choose it, too.

If you want to know more, for example what he says about Muhammed Ali etc, please read this article:here google translate does a more or less good job.

He also says people of different colors will always go at each other - I do not think so.

I remember the huge, tall, very "black" man in Varadero, Cuba, who overheard we were talking - in German - about what to do that day. In a Saxon German accent he gave us tipps! (Cuban people were allowed to go to GDR prior the fall of the wall).

To see the news in America and France hurts. To experience how some people from Afghanistan, Syria treat German women is another story...

What do YOU think? Is "Mohrenkopf" a name of pride or provocation?

Do YOU have places named similar and if so, yay or nay, I am for Yay.

Being half-German ain´t easy at times, either, but I met an old French soldier who just asked nice, friendly questions. We have to overcome all that darn stuff (my two cents).

Henry?

He´s from (don´t tell him) the Northern Alps, but in the saga from Africa and he is proud of that chef!

P.S. Andrew speaks perfect German, just saying...

Knock-Knock, A Potpourri

Today you only get some shots from... July, boy, I am way behind!

I bought sadly a huge fake I had to carry a long way, too....

I thought it´s a nautical themed toilet-paper. Blue flowers 😒

On the way back from the bakery I saw this "funny" and unsafe construction - hello, burglar, come in:

Next I spotted this old, signed football!!

Awwww. Can you believe I payed 5 Deutsche Mark, being a student, back then? For any seat, too!

Be early, place your jacket on the seat of your choice and go for a pizza, beer, whatever until the game starts! No one takes your jacket. These days? 20+Euro!!! Order online or stand in line, you get a seat that is free.

Back then? Speaker: "Matt!!!" - us: "RIAZZI!!!!" - "Adrian..." - "RAINBOW!!!" We knew all the players. All gone. And that´s not (only) because we are old! The young ones (we only go once in a while) have no interest in the player´s names/personalities/skills.

You know, when I went to school I had no shoes or broken ones, the snow was 3 metres high and it was always uphill, also back home. Right? 👵 Back then everything was better, huh - did you spot the rainbow on the ball?🌈

But for now... SUMMER!!

And more weirdos, falling down:

Henry??? 🦁

"Knock, knock!"
"Who’s there?"
"Orange."
"Orange who?"
"Orange you glad to see me?"

P.S. Have you seen you get Emojis also on blogger? No lion. Good ole Win > dot saves him!

Oh, I think with this I can take part in Tom´s Willy-Nilly 😀

Thoughts On Companions

I wanted a cat. My Mum hated these animals and I got a biiig dog instead (I was 5).

We never warmend up, Inka and I, a German shepherd (what else)

I got a gerbil, she was sooooo sweet. She turned her life to "after school-time" and I just opened her cage.

I have NOT ONE SINGLE PIC OF HER! It was in the 80´s, I had no cam.

She carefully made her way up to my ear to tell me things. When she needed "to go" she went to her loo and came back, she was clever. She lived a long life in mouse years, but lonely (I did not know, I was a kid).

Next I got a white mouse, boy, she was dumb. Sorry, but... she did "her business" everywhere and...

I met a horse, Bürste, ""brush", a pain!  I had to smash myself on her side to get her off of balance so I could grab her leg to clean her hoof!

Prior to that..

Next, a couple, mother and son. Mother, a pony, "mean". The moment she felt your foot in the saddle she ran off - Jack, be quick!!!! Her son? I looooved him. The father was a horse, he was taller. When I came in he knew I start with left leg, so - after a cuddle (yes, he cuddled) - he lifted said leg and let me do my work. He was the cutest!!! No pic :-(

I always had to be careful with his  mum, she tried to bite me every chance she got.

I am small, I always "got" the small horses.

As in I was allowed to go to other places, I never had a horse myself!

But then.

Alexander. Black. Tall. A very big boy.

I needed help, I could not put the saddle on, that tall he was. The bridle, I could.

How????? He bent his head down to me!!! That sweet boy. Saddle. I had to adjust it to a very tall person, otherwise I´d had no chance to even "climb/jump" on.

He could´ve run, he stayed. I bumped into his back every time. He stayed till I was ready. I adjusted everything but he was so tall I fell onto his back so often... he semingly did not even mind.

After we had our "fun-ride"  I was able to get the saddle off (buhh, some heavy thingy!!)  and he bent his head down again to get the gear off and take a biiiig cuddle - Alexander, The Great.

He was great indeed.

Hilde. My parent´s in law´s dog, a boxer, Hilde. Big, no respect whatsoever, a pain.

Frida, the next boxer they got (Hilde had a good, long life with them) - STAY. She does. But later she silently sneakes up to get her "hello", to check on me and out of nowhere I get the hottest tonge in my hand.

I like her. But why do dogs want to lick you??? In summer I wear sunscreen, not healthy for a dog´s tongue! And why in the face, I wear glasses! Plus... EEEEK:

Would YOU like it if I licked YOUR face???

There were animals in my life.

Mr Mikesh, my SIL´s cat, I seldom saw him - as them - and now he´s passed. They have a new one I never met (thank you, Corinna), his name is Pepper.

Ingo does not want an animal.

Nothing to add, huh, I have my memories...

It´s EMPTY!!!

One day, one day... I won´t have Simon´s Cat but some sweet fella.

I will be "PAWSITIVE".

It will be a small cat, of course none of Henry´s siblings (but isn´t this too cute???? If I ever have a car again, guess what I´ll have as tank cap!).

This is for "Tom´s "Signs 2".

Boy, is that some weird, crazy code blogger pops out?! "&nbsp;<p></p><p>" - didn´t even look for the first "</p>". Sad.

As if a cat did this (sorry, maybe a cat would use "<br />")

Do you have a cat? Are Simon´s stories true?

T STands For The SixTies... SevenTies?

Yes, it says... "With ob tampons you can even go swimming.

Not only in your holiday"

Sorry, if men read along, or am I??

Ingo was born 1965 and his Mum explained to him what tampons are (well, not straight away).

And I find a magazine from the later 70´s with ads for those things???

I can top this! We have ads for "Binden/pads" on TV ... like NOW.

EWWWWW

I cannot imagine to not have this comfort.

Men, still reading along? Read "comfort" as in no mess. It hurts. You think of nothing aaaand "cramp, outch!!!"

Feel free to tell me about "men-problems", and I´m not after hair!

No matter where!

(huh I can give a rhyme, here).

Boy... aren´t we so lucky to have these tampons and guess who invented them? A man (wiki gives no name).

And what do I find two houses to the left?

The German and English sites were... useless, the French one at least gave away even the Egyptians had something like it!!!

Detail:

Here - I made a start:

Food-wise?? SUMMER!!!

AAAND! I just saw a mini-docu on Saratoga Chips, ohhhh, "sweet". As sweet as waking up to 32 What´s App messages from my Brother! Holiday-pics, Yayyyy!

And to be in with Elizabeth and Bleubeard´s "T Stands For Tuesday":

And Henry?

He thinks tampons are great!

Let´s celebrate!!!These "murals" are taken on the way to the bakery - where I do not go to today as Ingo is on holiday!

I found no name of the artist(s), but it´s taken at Theatre Fadenschein.

So.... let´s go for a fun... a...

Taking part again in Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals.
