One Age, Still Working
Totally forgot to show you this "gem" I found at Bro´s place.
This is one of the original stamps Bro still uses - guess they´re my age.
He says back then they did cost some whopping DM 300, now that would be €150 just for these you´d pay a fortune, I guess!
Good ole quality, he has some 3-4 of these!
Yes, back then the shop was running like really great!
Our family name translated is Emperor.
One of the staff's family name translated was Pope and one customer´s was Earl - quite a mix, huh? I think one of the trainees was named King, but I´m not 100% sure and there is no one left to ask.
This is what the thing prints, btw:
My Dad was very traditional, yet fair, hence he offered me the shop first as I´m the older one.
Was he releived I declined!
It wasn´t he thought a woman cannot do the job - he thought I´d marry (which I did after all) and loose the family name (which I did not).
He also had a set of golden cutlery for each of us.
Bro´s got engraved his initials, mine not cause... marrying... name...
Did I mention my Dad was very conservative? ;-)
If you wanna see what Bro has on offer have a look here. His gold-smith works are individually made, you can see some here.
I esp admire the neclace with the hidden closure he made for our Mum (from the technique, I don´t like the color gold on me). It was his masterpiece.

Do you ever regret turning it down Iris? If it turns out your company doesn't offer you a job you like is it not possible to go into partnership with your brother, or would that not work?
Never regretted it, Grace! Goldsmith means handling hot - not my thing. Optometrist means being very, very near to strangers - I hate that.
Hence, no I couldn´t work with him - also I wouldn´t be willing to drive over 60km one way to work - and the shop is struggling, too.
But we work great together otherwise, did so many renovations.
We´re quick and have loads of fun, too :-)
The only place I know use stamps still is the Library.
Coffee is on
Cool!
