It Was Alive!
"Mum´s kitchen-classics (that made us grow)" - every weekend it´s the same question: What´s for dinner?
Well, I felt a tad "homesick" and suggested:
Königsberger Klopse (the Wiki-article is wrong for our families, btw. In my case cause my Mum was born near Königsberg and spent her first two years there before they fled to Elmshorn in that ice-cold winter of 1945, not taking the Gustloff and hence surviving).
Anyhows.
I didn´t like that dish very much as a kid and I always picked out those capers.
Because... I thought those were tiny animals.
So did Ingo, btw - you maybe, too?
As a kid Ingo also refused to eat the "heads" of asparagus, cause... heads, right?
(I refused asparagus altogether and still only like it from the glass).
What kind of food did you mistake for having been alife, is there any?
Or any you disliked as a kid and love now?

Interesting, I guess as kids we all had food that we didn't like. Some we outgrow, others not so much.
The usual things like Brussel sprouts etc. But they're one of my fav veggies now, I definitely think our taste buds mature as we get older ☺
Blogoratti, that is true, never in my life will I like Rollmops!
Grace, I always loved Brussels Sprout :-) But you are right, our taste buds mature, we get away from the sweet milk, I read.
I remember my Mom giving us liver and also scrambled eggs with cows brains. Yukes!! Nicer liked it and never will. I was always very fussy with meat as a child and still only eat chicken breast and no fat on the meat for me! The vegetables I didn't like I eat now though.
Ewww, liver and brain, guess I´d refused! I´m sadly a picky eater, too, when it comes to meat and fat or sinews and such.
