From Braunschweig To London
What is Big Ben doing in a mural with Henry the Lion? A British phone booth and the famous London bus?
Well, Henry played a game - and lost big.
His cousin, Emperor Barbarossa asked him for help in a crusade in Italy in 1176 - and Henry declined.
Barbarossa had more power and made Henry go to England in exile in return.
Here you also find the Brunonia, the biggest Quadriga in Germany with some massive 25,8 tons and 9,20 m as highest point. Brunonia herself is 5,30m tall - some woman, huh?
The long story (in German) is to be found here.
Seesh. Blogging / murals make me learn the more rather unknown stuff even!
Mural for i-unit group, to be found in Steintorwall.
Taking part again in Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals :-)

Its big but also very messy. It mis its message for me.
It shows that Henry the Lion was in exile in Great Britain.
Gosh the Brunonia sculpture is amaaaaaazing Iris! I agree, just about every blog post brings up info about Perth that I didn't know. I actually get people emailing me now to ask for information 😀😀 I like the detail in this mural ✨
...an interesting history lesson!
You can also climb up to Brunonia - crazy enough we never did it (yet)!
So it´s not just me learning stuff about home because of the blog, Grace :-)
Thank you, Tom!
Great mural Iris! I agree I have also learned a lot more about history, geography, etc, etc through blogging.
Thanks for contributing.
So we´re not just bloggers, we´re students, too, Sami :-)
