Never Again, Kathy ;-)

Well... one more time I will use pizza sauce from MUTTI cause Ingo bought it on my stupid request, but do you know how EASY it is to make that yourself?!!!
Side note - I called my Mum "Mutti", my Bro said "Mami" - same in  your family (if you grew up with siblings)?

I never knew how easy it is, and how quick!
OK. These days we have to have an eye on what is "cheaper".

Ingo bought tomatoes that were more than over-ripe - he could not see it, hello, darn plastic-wrapping!

I cut them, put them in a blender with fresh basil, salt, pepper, quality olive oil - zoooom, done, no worries, a very quick task!

Never again will I (see title, sorry, Kathy, needed to start like this 😘) never again will  I buy pizza sauce!!!
I know what is in in mine - no sugar, for example.

How on earth did it take me SO LONG to learn this - it´s so darn easy!!! Healthy!

Next step: the dough, of course - this was a bought one, blehhh, not good.
Cauliflower maybe?

Darn it. I´m hungry now ;-)

This is for Kathy´s food Wednesdays, looking forward to yours.

Hm, really, guys?
That´s no Lion-food!

I buy the same pizza sauce, but in a jar and the part I don't use gets frozen in portions enough for one pizza. It's easier for me this way. I will email you my pizza dough recipe.

Thank you, two great ideas! Right, this is way too much sauce for one pizza, too!

...and I looove pizza too!

That pizza looks yummy, except for the black olives. I don't dislike them, but only like one or two. And I always make my own pizza sauce, but often I just use a can of already made tomatoes. I've also made pizza without sauce too, which is also really yummy. Happy Wednesday. hugs-Erika

My cousin's nickname is Mutty! Pizza looks good. Rick usually makes his own sauce, too. Sometimes he'll use a canned base if the tomatoes aren't in season but he jazzes it up with loads of herbs and garlic.

Yum your pizza looks delicious Iris. Yes I have made my own pizza sauce too-super easy and you can put in the herbs and spices you want. I do have a couple brands that I love too and keep them on hand.
Thank you for sharing with us for Food Wednesdays hugs

Outside of local tomato season (which in our area is only around 8 weeks long) I use canned tomatoes. Using fresh tomatoes out of season doesn't make sense as they aren't as good and are very expensive.

I agree with you that canned sauce for pizza or pasta is overpriced, and it's not that hard to make it from scratch.

I've never made pizza from scratch before, so I applaud you. This looks good. Happy Food Wednesday, Iris.

____

Erika, pzza without sauce?! Sounds like a hearty cake :-)
I loooove black olives.

____

Jeanie, oh. And I thought I did something "new" LOL!!!! See, I had to get that old to find out nearly everybody does the same - yay to blogging, I learn so much!
Next time I just ask!

____

Kathy, oh, just as I said to Jeanie... next time I just ask! ;-) And I was so proud of myself, LOL!
I invented the wheel a second time! Hugs, and oh!

____

Mae, yes, they were in season, I reckon, yet the prices certainly now go up for everything!
I think the war is mainly an excuse for making us pay more.
And, yes, do your own thing is much better when making pizza!

____

Elizabeth, it´s so easy, just give it a go :-)

Your pizza looks delicious! I'm with you on homemade sauce. I haven't bought any kind of tomato sauce in years. I don't even buy canned tomatoes anymore, I do marathon canning in the fall when I get lots of tomatoes on sale! It just tastes so much better!!

I use bottled sauce. We so seldom get decent tasty and inexpensive tomatoes here. Right now I have 3 large tomatoes sitting on my counter that have absolutely no taste. They will be going into the soup pot.

We have homemade pizza every Friday and always with our own made sauce. As you saud, it's so easy to make.

I said Mutti as well and did my brother if I remember correctly. None of us ever said Mama, we didn't like that word. My daughter says either Mami or Mom to me. My husband who says Mama to his mom, sometimes said to my daughter "go ask Mama" and every time I had to remind him that I am NOT Mama. Argh. You're right - pizza sauce is so easy to make, why buy it? And you know what's in it.

Looks good!

We get that brand in the supermarkets here too.
Some things are easy to make and much healthier than the bought version.
I like pizza too :)

Rain, yes, it tastes better and you know what´s in there!

____

magiceye, cook and bake ;-)

____

Jackie, yes, sometimes we get tomatoes that taste like water. Crazy such crap goes onto the market at all.

____

deb, it´s fun making it - but I also love to order :-)

____

Bill, every Friday? Hmmmmm, YUM! Sadly Ingo does not like Pizza much.

____

RedPat, I used to do that, too. Then order, now this.

____

Carola, yes, I didn´t like Mama (the word!), either. "Argh" ;-)

____

William, apart from the dough it was!

____

Sami, crazy you get tomato-sauce from Italy. Kinda. You have such great tomatoes at Woolies and co!
Apart from Ingo, who does not like Pizza? ;-)

____

Dora, especially black olives, hmmmm...

Mostly we make our own dough, but if we are pressed for time we use nan bread and that works perfectly well. But we eat pizza infrequently anyway.
