On Feb 13th we went to Freo.
This was not our "goal"...
We were in for a gaol...
We did twice a tour there, two different tour guides, two different stories.
I was thinking about doing the night-tour, but after last time I nearly passed out in the room were prisoners were hung I decided against this.
Nightmares would be a program.
The "True Crime Tour" is new.
You do not learn about how the prisoners "suffered", but why!
On came a large group of loud, chatty Japanese peeps - oh, nooooo....
Luckily they did the usual tour and it turned out we were quite a very small group:
The man was born in Perth but they came from America.
Beats me - just like with the Indian Pacific: Why do people pay money for things they are not really interested in?
These two were looking so bored, it was a pain.
This tour was about... how, why did the prisoners end up here.
The guide told the facts...
As the other two were so bored he was rather fixed on me and after a while asked if I need a break...
Ingo said I looked horrible.
And how not.
True stories like... a 19 year old man on a hot summer´s night sticking his head out of the window of his house to get some fresh air... shot in the head. The murderer that night randomly shot three other people he did not even know, either - just for the fun of it. Sick.
And at one point I did feel sick!
They sure did deserve to suffer and die like this, alone, in a prison.

I get sick cause I cannot understand how ... why. And yet it never stops. Just look at the massacre in the theater in Russia the other week... or all those wars.
Perth was a rather small city, as Freo, too, and yet, that prison was full to the brim.

Amy, yes, well, I dunno. I think the media today make people more indifferent? Also, at least here in Germany, in court people are allowed to cover their faces...
I remember seeing the prison, I don't think there was a tour that time but there were guards around to make sure we didn't go where we shouldn't. I remember even walking some of the underground tunnels and seeing where people had dug escape tunnels and places where weapons were kept. They had the "stocks" in the yard and oif you wanted you could put your head and hands in there and have someone take your photo. I didn't. I am not scared or sick in such places but I can see how more sensitive people might be.
I've only done the normal prison tour once and it's enough. I don't handle all that stuff well either!
River, oh sad - the tours are really very interesting! When visiting your Brother you should take one.
Ew, no I wouldn´t want a pic as "prisoner", either!
They did not show us the tunnels and did not tell of weapons, either. I think each tour-guide has his own program.

It's interesting to visit prisons, but I get why you didn't want to do the night tour. Seeing the room where people were hung even in the day sounds a bit creepy to me. But I'm glad you shared these photos. Hope you're having a great day. hugs-Erika
I would skip a prison visit.
That would not be the tour for me. I think I would get sick too, Iris.
Erika, yes, the tours (at daytime) are interesting. But I also was glad when it was over ;-)

Being lock up doesn't sound interesting to me. Lot of our American Prison now our private.
An interesting tour, but maybe depressing? I toured our old state prison once with 2 of my grandchildren. They loved it but all I could think of was the pain and misery that place had seen. But I did get some very bizarre photos on there. Creepy.
