Ingo said no to opening the door, and really, we were packing for returning back to Germany (buhuuuu) and it was chaos.
I had to throw these away...
The doc suggested frozen peas to cool my spider bites and it worked pretty well.
When packing was done and all bitter-sweet good-bye´s to and fro the staff were done Grace and Pat were so superkind to drive us to the international airport Perth with all our huge luggage (compared to what I saw later we had not much, though!).
Why the title?
We went inside and these days you put your luggage in without staff:
I admit, when possible at our REWE-grocery I take self-checkout - other than Bea is at the staff checkout - then I go there for a nice, lille chat (if not a queue).
Yay or nay for automate "everything"?
Anyhows, we hopped on this:
THREE planes?!!!
Here goes. Perth > Singapore, fine, a bit over 5 hours plus 1 hour for check-in.
A bit of time and... as I join...

They woke us up in the morno, our park-Kookaburras and also for good-night they let us know it is THEIR park with their laughter...
Anyhows, we went into the plane Singapore > Frankfurt.
You know, takes over an hour and then there we sat and nothing happened but a lady with her mask on - and down to her chin COUGHING LIKE CRAZY all the time.
The captain:
"Dear ladies and gentleman, girls and boys (😍)... we have a problem with the plane and try to track it down, thank you for your patience."
After listening to the coughing for another ... well after 90 minutes the captain revealed they cannot find the problem we need to board another plane in two hours.
Happened in 2017 or such also!!! Plane "broken"! Failure unknown!
Can anyone suggest a better air-line (QANTAS does not fly Germany and lost is´t glory according to other´s sayings)? So I sadly don´t think so...

On the new plane, same seats, same coughing. HELLO. There are PHARMACIES at the airports, get medicine!!!!
And WHY wear a mask down you chin?!
She was German and in line in front of us all the way through passports.
Do I count correctly, 18 hours awake non-stop.
Then 12-something hours to Frankfurt > 30 hours.
I cannot sleep on the plane (or such).
Took us forever to get our luggage then had to wait till German/European time 01:35 p.m. for...
... the Flixbus where Ingo got some of the last tickets.
Plan: Being in Braunschweig 7:10 p.m.
Reality: Traffic Jams, stopped counting after #3. We were still in Frankfurt and on it went like that.
Göttingen ate up another hour.
As I sat beside a stranger (who took my space, too) and not beside Ingo I had to try EVERYTHING to not fall asleep and maybe cuddle up to him and worse, snore (he fell asleep and woke up cause he drooled!!!)
All in all we were really home (using our tram) by nearly 9 p.m.
And crazily awake.
Railway would´ve been three hours, not seven/nine and by now I am done with mindless, unsuccessful strikes on the little man´s shoulders!!!
This journey-strikes:
- Deutsche Bahn > Flixbus on last sec
- QANTAS > Jetstar on last sec
- Deutsche Bahn > Flixbus on last sec
- Spider-bite > medicare
- Some sand-insect > allergy I still have
Last time (2019) we arrived when the Braunschweig Carnival was on, trams/buses/taxis were on hold and we had to walk ALL the way home with our luggage through rain and drunks.

What an eventful trip, it really makes for a very tiring day/s.
I have flown Singapore Airlines quite a few times with no problems, really bad luck Iris. Otherwise Emirates will go from Perth to Dubai then Frankfurt, or Qatar airways, via Doha.
Sami, we took Emirates and I was treated... sorry for the true word... like a "whore" for not wearing a hat (which was in my luggage on the plane).
Never again.
It is an international airport! All the hourly praying on the whole airport instead of a prayer room did not make cheer me up, either - I won´t go into this any further, just see Braunschweig´s efforts on making all fine for Islamic people here...
Sad QANTAS now has such a bad reputation! We LOVED them!
Who knows what can change in hopefully only two years!
P.S. ... Ingo does not like cats. But I could´ve went outside with a snack and water and some cuddles if he/she visited earlier, that is true!!!!

Gone are the days when air travel was exciting and restful. Now there is little space and they give you horrible food and lose your bags etc. I'm glad that you got home finally and hope that you sleep tomorrow, Iris. When are you to be back at work?

You know, Iris, you should just stay home. I have not traveled since 2013 (trip to Florida and Washington, DC). I don't miss traveling at all. Too much stress.

Welcome home...be it ever so humble, I'm sure you're happy to be there finally. What a trip! So there were some good things, and then bugs and coughing ladies, and plane changing, then transportation strikes...so glad that at least your luggage is home too!
I would give a lot to still be there (forever), but yes, it was good and all luggage is here.
I wish you could actually permanently move to Perth. Only one time I've had a spider bite and I needed to go on anti-biotics for it but it was many years ago.

Arriving a few hours late (out of maybe a 24 hours’ trip) and with your luggage — bottom line, that’s not so bad, even with a wait in an unpleasant terminal. But I don’t blame you for being frustrated with the waiting and hassles, especially on the way home from the airport!
Don’t listen to anyone who says not to travel. It’s one of the best things in life!

Nice cuddles. And that's a lot of flying time. My flight on Tuesday is totals out to 14 hours and 1 plane change in New York. I've never flown through New York before, not sure what I think of that. Strikes are the worst! They happen unexpectedly and cause so much disruption.

The spider bite is OK now and the allergy from insect unknown nseems to go away, too! :-)

I was simply DUMB! The Koala was so small, he would´ve fitted in my pocket still!!
The allergy seems to fade, Sami thinks it was some bug in the sand...
I HATED to throw away the peas and corn!!!
But then... after our Mum´d passed away and we cleaned the house. In our old kid´s room we found out she was a "messie" and amongst other were loads of plastic bags of frozen peas.
This would - or was - a start to get over it. I´ll look for that combo here!
