Thursday 04:30 a.m. through rain in the black darkness Ingo drove me to Hannover for a minor OP.
Shortly after 05:00 a.m. I was there - door closed, nothing to sit on, dark, rainy - am I in the right place?!
A small clinic on second floor - I was due 07:00. Yes, nearly 2 hours to go! (Ingo needed to get to work in time and traffic gets madder by the minute).
Luckily 05:45 someone from another company opened the door and I could at least sit on the stairs inside with my kindle with my owl book (see last post, if you like).
Everybody was nice, this was a bit odd, though!!!
I got this around my wrist - is there an evil twin there, too, and they wanna be sure I am really me? But then... I was born in January!!! Am I really me???
The room I had for myself! Either way, OP was only 2 hours, no pain at all.
All good until luck hit! Yes, LUCK.
My heart started racing again.
Happened 1995 in hospital, the doctor told me not to worry.
Occasional this occurs. I had a loooong pause but this December it started again, then in Perth, twice - usually for 20-40 minutes.
My family doctor said not a thing to this!
After an hour I called the nurse.
Pulse 197. Doc came, they measured and measured. I got Beloc. Doc looked worried - pulse 200. It all, even after another dose of Beloc took 3 1/2 hours till it stopped racing and went back to normal.
I got the Beloc certainly through a kid´s gear. Boy, wherever I go I get the kid´s stuff. And each and every time peeps are amused. I think I should be, too.
Will make an app with a cardiologist!!! It is not nothing!!
Password for Wifi was "hannover96" the doc said with a quirky smile.
In soccer Braunschweig and Hannover are "enemies" and their team is called "Hannover 96". I said, I´m into football, no worries! He also checked back on me and advised I get a new family doctor, too!!!
Meanwhile I got a yummy noodle-soup and just look at my dinner!
This was half a portion... and too much.
What a difference a nice plate can do, huh?
My pulse was checked all the time but was OK, the nurses all supernice.
Then the night-nurse came, we had a long chat, too.
She was in Russia (ages ago) on THE train - the Trans-Siberian Railway - and had no memories due to meeting two Aussies and two Kiwies and LOADS of vodka... a NURSE!!!! - at least it was a night-ride, so they wouldn´t have seen anything of the landscape anyways. But really, "no memories"!!!! Oh, boy! 😉
Sleeping was difficult and oh, I brought way too many clothes!
I brought a PJ (superwarm, hence thick), my sports trousers for in case I have to go somewhere... I stayed in the "nice" hospital-gown all the time, LOL.
Doc T checked on me, first nurse from yesterday wrote down all heart-data and meds for me and then we said good bye (she took both my hands) and my sweet doc T drove me home before the other doc made sure I´m OK with my heart :-)
Doc T lives in Braunschweig, too, and brought me right to my door, at 10:00 a.m. I was home!
See, Fridays are crazy on the way Hannover-Braunschweig come lunch time.
No need for me to take tram and train, no need for Ingo to drive Salzgitter - Hannover - Braunschweig.
All I need is Iboprofen 400 three times a day for another two days and tadaaa... I´m fine!!!
No sport for six weeks is a great excuse, too 😉
I have a friend, fK, she says everything has it´s right time.
So many wonderful coincidences with Dr. T and my heart going nuts at the right time, too.

...I'm not sure if I understand all of this, but pulse of 200? Iris, take care and be well.
I am with Tom is this a recent event? sounds scary the food looks delicious
Take care of your ticker! So glad you had a moderately good time of it!
@all... yes, 197-200 pulse for 3 1/2 hours... scary, that was!
I was taken care of and will make a doc´s appointment.
It was scary....
Take care Iris
Sounds like something that a lot of people seem to have these days and they should be able to get it under control, Iris. You seem really calm about it which is good.
Glad you got treated so nicely there. Take it easy for a couple of weeks.
I'm with the doc from the clinic, get a new primary care/family doctor. Take care and rest.
Christine, will do :-)

RedPat, I was in good hands! I will go calm...

CJ, yes, my friend already gave me a name last week for a new doc!
I agree, get a new family doctor! How can he dismiss a racing heartbeat as nothing? My heartbeat does a little blip every now and then as if deciding whether to beat or not but it does and I don't even feel anything, but it shows up when they do an ECG. A very mild arhythmia.
I am glad your procedure was small and quickly done, the food there looks really good, much better than what gets reported here from people who complain to the newspapers and send in photos of what looks like slops you might feed to the pigs.
Thanks for being a mentor and guide through your insightful articles. Find everything you need to know about Aviator on our blog.
I'm a little confused, too, but I think you need a new family doc and I'm glad you'lll be seeing a cardiologist. A racing heartbeat is nothing to jus let go so I'm glad you went to the clinic. I'm very glad you were well cared for and I'm sure that you'll have a referral to a good cardio doc. Thinking good thoughts for you.
River, yours sounds scary, too, if you don´t even feel it!!!
Let´s hope our hearts still work properly for a long while!
It was a private clinic, hence the good food. I sure do know other, LOL. Which is sad cause it´s so boring in hospital one looks forward to meals!
Poor pigs, too...

Aviator, you´re welcome. Insightful ;-)

Jeanie, thank you, oh, it´s so hard to get doc-appointments, will take a while but I´m at it!
I hope all is well now.
