Walls And Future

Ingo pointing at Henry.

Finally it was a sunny day and on the way to the Christmas Market last Friday I could take proper pics of the new thingy that you can enjoy in warm temps from the benches set up front.

Or... go and learn.

This is the heart of the city, where we belong to.
Ingo used google a while ago and found out that our CBD is as big (or small) as Perth´s!

What are the chances?

The protective wall was not needed anymore and became parks in 1800.
(I don´t wanna bore you to death with details, we talk about stones after all).

I assume it was a "tad" higher back in the day...

Henry 🦁  took care of us.

The wall was 1,60m thick and a piece of wood was found:

... from around when Duke Henry the Lion took care of Braunschweig.
They put it here as part of the artwork/installation.

Well, this actually needs no explanation, does it?
They did not ship to Hawaii to get stones, right?!
This is 5 minutes on foot from our home btw.
(Oh, come on, let me brag a bit... I LOVE living here)

The new series:

Irony: I am the dishwasher.
But Ingo promised to make Toast Hawaii in return.

"These inventions are older than you think

 Dishwasher

Female inventors and scientists rarely receive due recognition. However, anyone who hates scrubbing dishes has one woman in particular to thank: Josephine Cochrane. In 1886, Cochrane invented the first commercially successful dishwasher. She was tired of her servants breaking dishes while washing dishes and she no longer wanted to do the work herself. Their motivations may be incomprehensible to most of us, but more than a century later we're still enjoying the convenience of their invention, so we really can't complain."

Henry 🦁 still wants to help:

... not only in Braunschweig. Just do, everywhere. And maybe all walls disappear...

Addendum, good ole FB showed me a pic I posted 10 years ago:

No need to raise your finger, Santa (I guess).
Bro was in the crib and I was forced to wear an original Dirndl from Vienna, Austria, ugly socks with Bommel, too. I HATED this.

It is German winter and cold and I wear a short blouse and short skirt.

And that chair, oh, that chair!!!! Dad put it (and his 3 companions) in the attic and they rotted away. I cried, I did.

I sit on "him"  right now (yes, chairs are male in German, in case you speak French or such, happy guessing - I forgot. Is it for example le or la livre- I can´t remember).

Happy belated T Day and Christmas. Sorry to be so late visiting, but the pain and headaches have been so severe, I haven't been out of bed except for necessities. Not sure you would see the Tuesday post, so just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you, dear Iris.

Love the chair, Iris,
You did look cute in that outfit but it is a bit cold for December.

Oh, a dirndl, I like the idea behind always knowing how to dress for any occasion, buut it looks a bit short and cold for winter in Germany.

Did not know the dishwasher has been around so long

I wish my apartment had a dishwasher. I just cleaned the kitchen, and then of course started the next meal and there are more dirty dishes!

I sure disliked that outfit, I never liked "dressing up". And I do believe parents should respect this.... For carnival they... long ago.

I lost a tooth in Vienna cause my parents sent me in a "carousel" for adults by myself. Another couple took care of me - when the tooth was gone already. No good memories... I hated that dirndl.

Yeah, I was born 1972 ;-)

Chair says "hi, Bill" :-)

So both of us are the dishwasher, huh.

The new monument is very impressive! I have a dishwasher at home but not at the lake. They make a difference!

Iris Flavia said...

We´re but two people so it is but annoying but do-able to be the dishwasher.
Yes, always nice to find some old new!
