To The Rescue?

Mae sure had a great post on President Zelensky, see here.

Let me share what I needed to answer:

"I so agree and am ashamed at the same time.
Germany´s doodle head, smurf, whatever (Olaf Scholz), promised so long ago proper help and never did it arrive.
A piece here, another there.
I remember one time.
Zelensky was on the screen, bombs in the background, asking the smurf for help. Smurf  turned his back to him.
I think all Germans cried out in despair."

Even worse.
Our lovely neighbor W claims "the Ukrainians" are like "the Russians", all but corrupt.
On the other hand he remembers how "the Russians" asked him to the table to share a meal when he was that hungry kid in the midst of war.

Are there "the Russians", "the Ukrainians", "the Germans"?

My ex-Teamleader E gathered medicine, clothes, drinking water, food, toys and went all the way to Kiev several times. I gave money.

As Braunschweig-person he took Henries to play with (pic from my cell).

It´s the PEOPLE who help, not the politicians, who just make empty promises, at least here in Germany.

Define corrupt. How can German politicians find 100 000 DM in their pockets (Wolfgang Schäuble) - hups, how did THAT get in there?

The Ukraine fights for ALL of us.

DDR/GDR, do we want that again?! We want to keep our freedom and if you asked me... (don´t) I would welcome Ukraine to the EU.
They fight for FREEDOM!

And what does Put#n want with a  destroyed country?

We don´t want socialism, hunger, 10000 pairs of shoes size 32 no one needs... but no... bananas.
I had three teamleaders from DDR who told me how it was like to live under the Sovjets.

I hope the United States of America finally can help.
This had to get out.

Yes, two posts again today, hello Santa-Switzerland :-)

Tank, huh? I wish they would, like in the Hippie-times, put a flower in it...

...promises are easy to make and harder to keep.

This is a shame. As we have. And they suffer.

It's right to vent.

I'm thrilled that my post inspired your post! The effort to defeat the tyrant in Russia definitely needs cooperation from the whole world -- we are only little people without much clout, but maybe if there are many of us, it will have some effect. (I wish...)

As I said, I'm thinking of people in Ukraine celebrating Christmas without heat, electricity, or running water. And maybe not even a roof to keep them from the cold.

I also read Mae's blog post on Zelensky and plan to write my own post tomorrow. We are now facing the possibility that we will turn our backs on Zelensky and the Ukrainians after the new politicians in the House of Representatives are sworn in in January. Thank you for this wonderful post.

Your food below looks good.

I believe this is first post I read from a European thought on Ukraine.
Coffee is on and stay safe

I saw Zelensky on the news last night, he flew to USA and spoke to President Biden, they hugged and Zelensky presented a Ukranian flag signed by soldiers at the front line. America has promised and given so much. Australia has also given, possibly we could do more. I wish that war would end today.

William, yes, I needed to...

CJ, wish we ALL could just... "Imagine"...

Mae, I just HAD to! I think it´s.. well. Sad we cannot really go at Putin.
I don´t think Russian people want this war, too many came here because they don´t want to fight.
Corruption is everywhere where there is opportunity.

Here it warmed up, I hope in Ukraine, too, yet it will be much colder. Reminds me of winter 1944, or certainly the stories I´ve heard of it.

We are so lucky and yet people are not happy and want more!

____

Elizabeth, I´ll hop over in a sec, I don´t know if I got you right.

____

L. Sadly you both are right!

Dora, that is sad! Oh, and no, I wrote a couple of times about it. Ukraine is not far away, my Ex-teamleader was born and lived there till age 6. So that makes it even closer to me.

____

River, you all gave - but Germany - a huge shame. You all are far away and we are so close. Our politicians are ... I don´t wanna say it...
Wish all wars would end. What is it good for?!
