The Wooden Spoon
After Christmas, the day my PC died, we made Quality Kale with Tradition again, here goes:
You need... kale, and this one really is the very best, stock, smoked pork chop, butter... and a wooden spoon.
At first I was like, yeah, a wooden spoon. Why not.
But then Ingo made me do the job and I can assure you: You need a wooden spoon indeed!
I opened the can and asked Ingo, now I push down the lid to get the water out, right?.
He didn´t answer, I tried and... nothing!
You really need power - and I do mean it! A plastic spoon would break!
Get it all out into a pot maybe.
Then take handfuls of the kale and press the water out.
The outcome looks a bit like mooh-poo ;-)
Next you need 3/4 l of stock - make it way stronger as if you´d drink it.
Put the kale back into the pot, add 1/4 l of stock and heat.
Take always care there is enough stock - it smells like real bad if it burns...
After, say, 30 minutes and 1/2 l of stock added you can close the lid and let it simmer for 30 minutes.
Now add smoked pork chop and let it simmer for another hour, check eventually and if needed add stock.
Then let it cool down.
An hour before you want to have dinner reheat it and add butter.
Peel and cook potatoes eh voilà:
YUM!
So worth the efford!
Actually you should add onions, too, but Ingo cannot take it, so.... Stll very, very yummy! When it´s cold outside, that is.
