The Squirrel And The Fox
Behind the "castle" aka castle-facade (sorry. I still miss the park that had to make room for this stupid idea...) I found this pretty building.
Yes, it´s a Realschule.
My Bro went to one, I sadly missed out, my parents thought they do me good sending me to a higher one.
Guess who can easily do percentage calculation now and who can´t!
Sad to see Ingo´s Bro makes the same mistake with his oldest son.
The title?
Here you go :-)
The school was built in 1870, is the oldest school Braunschweig´s and obviously survived WWII, where nearly the whole inner part of the city was destroyed.
Beautiful, no?

So this gorgeous building must be quite new if you remember a park here Iris, I imagined it to be really old!
Pretty buildings, but it's sad you had to lose the park to build something.
Ah, no, you got me wrong - the building you see in the pics is the schlool built in 1870.
You find it behind the new "castle".
It was a real castle, mainly destroyed in WWII.
In 1960 the decision was very close, not restore the castle but tear down the ruins. Instead we got a beautiful park.
In 2004 ist was a very close decision: Don´t keep the park but rebuild the "castle/Brunswick Palace".
It now hosts a mall (!!!) and a library.
You find more here.
Fantastic details.
Yes, glad this building survived the war.
