Just Lock Me Up
On my way back from the clinic I passed the Justizvollzugsanstalt Braunschweig and, my. I bet the guys in there lead a better life than I!
We once considered moving into an apartment in that street - until I saw the jail - I´d have no calm minute there if Ingo wasn´t home! ;-)
Well. I was at clinic Holwede by 07:30 ... and out again by 01:00, phew - but that was OK, thanks to omy kindle.
(I do read an awesome paperback-book atm, too, but the kindle is certainly easier to carry around.)
A young female doctor came up with... cortisone. This time as heave duty infusion.
No, thank you! Not a third time this stuff.
She sent me down to the specialist in internal medicine.
He stated that if someone goes negatively into such a treatment it likely won´t work anyways.
But he asked me to come back on Monday to let him know if this worked:
Only water and plain rice for three days (to "detox" the blood vessels and thin the blood). "You´ll loose some weight along, too", he grinned.
Hello, thank you, do I look that fat?!
So, see why I do believe the inmates do lead a better life, at least food-wise? ;-)
In summer this wouldn´t be that bad, but... brrr...
No tea, either, so I think these warmies will have to work these days more than usual (are they typical German?):
Ups, need to clean the microwave - funny what only a flashlight reveals, does it happen to you, too, at times?
Janosch´s stripey tiger duck ...
I´m "cheating" btw, we only had basmati-rice, at least a tad of taste (no fried rice, just cooked).
The internist sent me back up to the ear section and after I still said no to cortisone the young doctor asked the head of department / senior physician, an astonishingly very friendly, patient man.
And he, too, said no to cortisone! He added: Let time work it out, cortisone is no guarantee anyways.
And he admitted that "we" do not really know what cortisone really does!
Phewwwww...
Guess receipes with rice will be off the list for a while when the three days are done ;-)
Lion of the day. 1902 this was still an orphanage, the following year turned into a hospital.
Addendum: You find the Tiger and his duck amongst other in the story The Trip To Panama (English).

Time to get creative .. warm rice, cold rice ... um not many options are there.
No, not too many options - and it´s the only warm thing I can get cause hot water sounds too strange...
I have to ask.... Why were duck and tiger in the micro wave ☺ can you add a tiny tiny bit of soy sauce to the rice Iris, that would make it a wee bit tastier! Over the weekend too, that's when you and Ingo get out and about and enjoy a hamburger.. no don't think about that, sorry 😶
They warm up in there, Grace - like those old-fasioned Hot water bottles you filled when you were cold, we call them warmies - and it´s icky cold inside. Usually I´d drink a hot tea... not allowed.
No soy sauce, plain stupid rice.
Saturday for lunch will be my last plain rice, yippie! I´m sooo hungry!
That's a pretty boring diet. Can you squeeze any fresh lemon juice or orange juice into your water? I like your warmies! I have little beanbags I use for that and they're fine but yours are much cuter! I'm glad this is only a short diet -- and that you don't have to do the cortisone yet.
No. All pure, buhuuu, plain water, plain rice - and no "yet" - never again cortisone (I know, never say never..).
The warmies are figures in a book, amongst other The trip to Panama and on TV, too. :-)
A very colourful cow!
The only jail I can think of around here is in the southeastern part of the city, a long way off from me. I've only been in that area a couple of times, and didn't see it directly. There's a previous jail here from the 19th century downtown, which today houses a youth hostel.
A youth hostel, now that fits!
I´ve been to two historic jails, or goals, as they call it, in Australia, it was kinda freaky, yet interesting.
I enjoyed the stroll through the city with you. Loved the cow in boots.
You´re welcome, forsythia.
