Bertiebo sure made me remember with her post on Barbie - I plan to watch it when it´s on TV.
I hate the cinema. Tallest person right in front, noisiest around etc...
The only cinemas I enjoyed was the world-oldest open air one in Broome (we might re-visit 2026).
Oh, and the 4-D one in Bremen 200?
Yes, 4-D! You got the goggles on and dived into the world of Star Trek (Voyager, I think it was).
You were right on the bridge - and got attacked - PHEW!!!!
You really got attacked, as there was a huge push of air from the seat in front of you (no one farted! ;-)...)
There were loads of such effects - perfect for a jumpy person like me...
Dolls... back to that... I once got a doll-house from my Dad.
Boooooring.
I got a doll that could open and close here eyes according to how you hold her. Got it, booooring.
I got a Barbie in a bathtub. You could fill it with real water, push a button and give her a bubble bath. Understood.
It was her only bath.
This tiny one I think was in a 1970´s Kinder-Überraschhungs-Ei?
I found in the attic of my parent´s house!!! You saw it as first pic and here is...
I was happiest when I learned to read.
(Do I miss him right now!)
Playing horses and all that was nothing for me, either. I never got the point.
Hop on a real horse (or rather pony), I did that.
Don´t remember the name of this one...
I certainly never owned one, but I could hop on my push-bike and drive to Bilderlahe, some 4 km away.
Donco was my fav.
Such a cuddly guy, always nice. A double-pony, his Mum was mean. They were in one box, yikes!
And once I got Alexander.
Alexander the Great. By goodness, he was huge, the back-thingy (Stockmaß) at least 1,85m! And yet so sweet. Ponies, if they don´t want to "play" put their heads high up - Alexander put his all the way down to me.
I had to let go to climb up - he stood still till I was done.
He was black, a beautiful animal!
And so cuddly.
Dolls and playing? Not my thing.
Can you imagine my hard times "playing" with the Nieces????
So what did I do?
We traveled to Perth.
Big Niece was maybe three and understood what a loooong flight means - she really layed down in bed!!!!
Try not to laugh!!!
She even was "exhausted" when we finally arrived.
So I told a story, no putting dolls or Schleich-animals over the floor.
The other day was her 13th Birthday.
There was no pressie-wish (again), so she got nothing from me.
She said she is perfectly happy and does not need or want anything (my Niece, LOL).
I reminded her of how once she was so happy to get presented with underwear at age 4.
"Still the same :-)".
She cracks me up, really.
Sad we "never" meet in person.
I will visit this year, though, cause I need Sunglasses from her Dad/aka my Bro for Perth.
Henry 🦁
Did you have a great imagination as kid? I needed books and reality. Still do.

I see you sitting with a book with one leg crossed over the other, like so many girls and women do. I could never do it. My hips just didn't ever want to bend that way.
I had imagination when I was little but not for dolls. I would read and pretend I was one of the people in the book, or I would ride my bike all over town pretending I was a superhero or a detective looking for clues, stuff like that. At the beach in the water I pretended I was a mermaid sometimes.
Oh, sorry about your hip! Mine is a bit uneven, too, hence my right ankle sometimes hurts. Other I am fine, phew. The scoliosis is minor, too. And forces me to not forget my training ;-)
Cool how your imagination worked! That must´ve been wonderful!
Well, I just say: Wednesday´s Words On A Friday!
I always look forward to your stories :-)
...Henry measures up again!
I had dolls but didn't play with them. Himself, who lived next door, didn't want to play dolls. We rode bikes, played baseball, waded in a creek behind a neighbor's house. A friend had a dollhouse that looked like her house. With real glass windows! I did like playing with the dollhouse. And I liked to read. The comment about underwear from your niece is cute and funny.
I was never much of a movie goer hence its been ages since a visit to a movie house!
Henry look so cute with his funny smile!
Tom, Henry sure does :-)

CJ, I think it´s awesome you married your childhood-love! And he sure had a better approach how to spend time!
Must be different to have such a doll-house, mine was simple, a no-man´s house - luckily!!!
Niece is some person, huh :-)

magiceye, ages ago here, also.
Henry says thank you.
It was tough growing up with such definite rolls- dolls for girls and toy trucks for boys. I liked dressing up my Barbie and making up stories about what she was up to. But I think I had so many dolls that now I'm not interested in them much at all. The world takes all kinds though. hugs-Erika
I agree, my parents tried to stick to the cliche, too. But had to give up quickly.
Crazy my Nieces are "girly-girls"!
Let people be happy the way they are as long as they don´t hurt anyone. Hugs to that, right?
I had lots of dolls but also played baseball with all the kids in the neoghbourhood and hockey outside in the local park in winter. I just found my old doll house from the 1950s.
I think Bro threw mine in the bin... it was rotting away in the attic, sadly - as many beloved things. I moved away too early...
I played baseball and ran track. Went to a few movies but like you mentioned tall people sit in your way, noises, and the sound was way too loud. Haven't been to a movie in years. Anyway, lots of the movies today are remakes of the older ones. A waste of money.
I last saw a movie several weeks ago.
I was never a doll gal. I preferred riding bikes, climbing trees, and doing boy stuff. Even my bike was a boy's bike. I have been on a horse a couple of times, but it's not something I would ever want to do on a weekly basis.
Bill, yes, way too loud as well in the cinema.
____
William, reckon you are the tall one then ;-)
____
Elizabeth, yes, bike, skates, skateboard. And no, horses was once a week max. But that was fun!
I don't know if many people go to the cinema/movies anymore. It's like not we use to when I was growing up, now that we have streaming and the internet it's so much easier to watch at home.
Also it´s way too loud!
My problem with movie theaters is how big the seats have gotten. I feel lost and uncomfortable in them.
What a nice doll house! Dolls aren't every child's idea of fun, though. I preferred reading...
I had dolls and played with them quite a bit for awhile. But then I learned to read. I hate the new movie theatres -- the chairs are too big and don't sit up straight. And now they make you reserve seats so you are stuck wherever you are instead of where you might want to move to if it was open.
