I did not misspell and I don´t want anyone to "beat" me.
Ingo enjoyed a real COHIBA from Cuba (oh, last time we visited was 2010!).
Yes, I wear a pullover in Cuba! It was a tad chili and the Canadian friends, a Mother-Daughter-duo we met (or rather they us), borrowed me this. Yes, it can get cool in Cuba!
We had a mini-bit of 7 year old Cuban rum (from the German grocery) on our balcony here in Braunschweig the other rare summer-night and Henry came out with us to give us some sweet candle-light.
King Frog had no idea what waits for him! (See last post).
We sure have a...
... bat-detector, with which I join Eileen´s Saturday Critters.
And yes. King Frog still has a walnut left between his feet.
Peanut (our squirrel(s)) took but the one from the crown.
I love bats.
In Australia we saw fruit bats, they´re brown and furry and might give you a tired blink when you pass under them.
At Ingo´s old place a baby-bat sadly got stuck under a plate. Luckily I did the dishes right after the BBQ and poor fella got hung on a tree outside and was gone next day.
At Volkswagen, my customer back then, one by accident made it inside - we safely got him/her out as well.
And here we see them, the detector´s alarm goes off often - but it´s too dark and they´re too far away for pics, so I sketched the one that hangs in the kitchen since ages 🦇
It lives here like forever and certainly is plastic.
To Critters!
Henry 🦁

Bats? Hmmm.
Hello Iris,
I enjoyed your critters and post. Nice photos from your trip to Cuba.
King Frog, the bat and little Henry are great critters.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Bats are indeed fascinating as you say.
Unfortunately, they are subject to many diseases. One disease is ravaging bat colonies in the US. The other disease is rabies, which bats often carry, and as a result, if you see a bat in your house, you have to capture it and have it tested. And if you don't capture it, you are supposed to get preventive rabies treatment, which is horrible.
Very sad situation.
best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Rauchen should be verbotten. Yuck! My dad tried to teach us the downside of smoking by making The Brother and I puff on his cigar. I turned green. On Summer nights we can sometimes see the bats fly among the trees as they come out to snack on mosquitos. Der Frosch Koenig looks very pleased with himself.
...yesterday we visited a classic car museum, Ingo would have loved it.
Bertiebo, I think they are adorable.

Eileen, thank you for giving me the idea to think of critters more!
I live in the city and apart from Peanut (our wild squirrels) I mostly see but dogs and doves. The little birds are gone.
____
Mae, oh! I think (....thinking) we don´t have the problem here?
Sad (and horrible indeed).

CJ I think he just "pafft" (not inhaling) and that once a year and outside. But I agree with you! I smoked for years, how dumb (and expensive. And now it´s even more expensive yet I see so many kids smoking!!
Seems it can´t get expensive enough.
Yes, once a bat really came near and snacked a darn mosquito!!!
The Frosch König sure loves his new job of feeding Peanut(s)!

Tom, me also!!! I adore such old cars - hope to find pics on your place!
We have fruit bats hanging around on the banyan tree late evenings during berry time. They can get quite noisy at times.
Here we used to have a lot of bats, but there is a disease (fuzzy white nose- a fungus) that is causing the bats to come in winter and then they die as there are no bugs for them to eat. But I've been seeing 2 bats in my yard, so hurrah. And I have a bat house too. I also like bats, and I hope they soon start making a come back. Hope you have a super weekend. hugs-Erika
magiceye, awww, cute!
____
Erika, sad to hear about the disease and starving. Yay to your bat-house.
So far the weekend is great - wishing you a wonderful one, too - hugs
Bats are good friends who do much good, iris. Thank you for sharing! Aloha!
The poor bats get a bad reputation. They are struggling with disease now so I hope they survive.
I'm not sure if Americans can even still go to Cuba. Maybe if they fly from Canada? It looks wonderful -- love the old cars.
Cloudia, yes and Aloha!
____
RedPat, yes, I´ve heard of that, so sad - I think here they are still healthy... Let´s hope it stays this way.
____
Jeanie, the cars are plain awesome! When it was discussed if American people can visit I really was "afraid" Cuban people will sell their cars. That would be such a pity - they belong to Cuba.
I like bats.
They are clever and cute.
I have an bat house.
Coffee is on, and stay safe.
Dora, cool!
We have a huge colony of bats in the botanic Gardens here, near the zoo and people are warned not to stand or sit under those trees because the bat poop and spit carries viruses and will make people sick. I took photos once but can't find them, they were mostly asleep and looked like big cocoa pods hanging in the trees.
