I Cried, Laughed, Closed My Eyes A Lot

2008 was the last time we went. A documentary on the Braunschweig Lions.
3 years ago my boss presented me with coupons for the cinema - and today we went.
Subject: Alzheimer´s desease.

Title: Honig im Kopf. - Honey in the head.

Even Ingo said it was way better than he expected.
I can only recommend it. Beautiful movie.
My Grandma suffered this disease and in the end thought I´m my Bro´s wife - she did not recognize me anymore.

Actors, amongst others: Til Schweiger (yum) and one of his daughters. Dieter Hallervorden and even Jan-Josef Liefers (yum, too).

It´s a sad and serious subject and they managed to bring it on with humor and also with respect.

I really did cry - and laugh. And due to many scenes filmed from a helicopter I had to close my eyes to not puke. Yikes, that was the only bad thing about the movie!

Lot´s of space and due to, as Ingo states, a movie just for serious peeps, nearly empty, maybe 30 guys we were! We had VIP-seats, too!

A tad too loud for my liking - and it took some 20 minutes to get Cokes!

The movie´s title... The Grandaughter asks, "Grandad, how does it feel like to forget everything?" and he answers after a while, "like you got honey in your head, so sticky".

Must have been interesting. I recently watched a documentary on TV about this Australian scientist with Alzheimers and how after about 10 years the disease hasn't progressed, because she just keeps active, has written a book, travels a lot, even remarried...
Hopefully a cure will be found, as it must be very sad for the families when their parents or grandparents no longer recognize them.

That is interesting, that she even remarried!
Yes, hopefully cure is on the way, as for Parkinson´s - as frightening, I guess. I have a colleague who has it...

My mother has Alzheimers and I too saw the documentary Sami mentioned. It's interesting how it affects different people differently - I'd like to see the movie to help me understand better, but it's probably not going to make it down here with subtitles! There's a Hollywood movie called 'Still Alice' about a woman with early-onset dementia - it looks interesting too. The whole disease is very sad though, and I start to wonder if it's in my genes too. I guess I'll find out sooner or later :)

Oh, I´m sorry to hear about your Mum, Red!
Hmmm, other movies by Til Schweiger came on DVD with English subtitles, so if you like I can have a look when it comes out and send it over to you? "Still Alice" sounds interesting, too.
Yes, I fear it, too, though I suppose anyone at any age can get it. Maybe the genes don´t count that much in this case.... let´s hope for the best!
