The Tooth Of The Lion

Are there still series you watch since you were a kid?

Here we have Die Maus. Wiki says the average person is around 40 (hello, you soon have to set that up to 50!!! ;-)...)
When I was a kid there was the mouse and the elephant, now there is a duck, too.
I do not like the duck.

Armin is still there, as Christoph, still in his green pullover.

Sesame Street?
No.
I loved it, my Dad watched with me, we got the original (translated to German). Then the German version. No. HUIUIUI is too much.

Löwenzahn.
"Peter Lustig" (Peter Funny) is long gone. Darn cancer :-(
Now there is a dog called "Keks" (cookie), and a man named "Fritz Fuchs" (Fox, as in smart fox, not the TV-channel ;-)... ).

Back then the "prefix" showed a bitumen road that cracked and then a "Löwenzahn" grew (dandelion, we call it "lion tooth").
Now?
There is Fritz Fuchs standing on a fake road with a torch. And the torch reveals items like the Earth, like a train... things that get explained later. But in the end there is still (fake!!!!) Löwenzahn.
At first I felt a tad "devastated". Another piece of my childhood being gone with this new version.

This show, as all three, were to explain how life works and in the end I even thought, hey, this is the better prefix!!!

Yes, my childhood is (looooong) gone, but these shows are still good (though politically drifted).
So sad my Nieces do not watch "old-fashioned TV" but on demand and do not even know these shows!

Does "Paw Patrol" teach you something?

Sundays are like this: Löwenzahn, Die Maus, and after that a fairy tale. (Well we skip the very old ones, they are horrible)
A nice tradition on cold, rainy days, plus, we´re home anyways it´s brunch time.

Sad they do not have this. When they are old there will be no memories, it all was "just on demand".

Do you remember when there were but three channels, you had to get up and WALK to the TV to change the channel and at midnight... beeeeeep.

Yes, I am old and yes, they will have different memories. But will they have memories of tradition?
Will they have a tradition they can have all life long, like me?
We may sleep in on Sundays, but we´re sure up for Löwenzahn!!!

Oh, and! Ingo certainly came home with this:

The bag is mine, from the times I still was able to donate blood...

Yah, everybody makes fun of my name. Colors for eggs, tissues, water...

And guess what was in the bag?

And Ingo, whom I asked over and over again if he wants an egg to take to work and got a "no" even complained he got no colored eggs!

Off soon to our lonely neighbour. He still isn´t allowed to see his wife in the nursing home. Maybe some colored eggs might give him a lille smile today.

Happy Easter, if you celebrate.

Lion of the day? Well, the tooth ;-)

To be honest Iris I don't have strong memories of tv programmes, even now I don't watch much TV, it's hard to find anything decent to watch 😊 Hope you are enjoying your Easter Sunday, we had a zoom call with the whole family, was fun except when we all tried to talk at once 😀

I only caught on to Sesame Street when my children were little. They also saw the Spanish-dubbed version. Stay safe! :-)

Greetings from London.

Hope you had the clever version for your kids!
Yes, let´s all stay safe!

I always pull out Dandelions as I think they are weeds.
I can't remember the last time I painted eggs, but it was many, many years ago.
I bought one Easter egg for Jose and a colleague gave me one, and I think Jose ate most of both eggs, lol.
I can't have sweets at night, otherwise I don't sleep.
Happy Easter Iris and Ingo.

I do remember three channels and having to walk to change them. Also, I still watch shows from yester-year. I have them on DVD. So fun.

You made me wonder how the dandelion got its English name. Well, I checked, it's from French "dent de lion" meaning lion's tooth. Same as the German origin. I guess they look like lions' teeth, though it wouldn't be my first thought.

Happy Easter and be well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com

I remember when my family first got a TV - programmes screened from 5.30pm to midnight on one channel. And our TV (black and white) always used to roll its picture and my dad would give the TV set a good thump to stop it! We watched things like Lassie and The Lone Ranger and The Beverley Hillbillies. Memories :) xx

I hope you had a wonderful Easter Iris.I think the children of today will have their own memories just like our memories are different from our parents. Oh well, I think that is how it has always been. Hugs-Erika

I'm sure your neighbor loved his colored eggs. Poor Rick -- he was so disappointed that he had to put all his colored eggs in the French toast. When (if) our food order ever arrives, I think we will dye eggs again because it makes us happy to see them in the fridge. (We don't cook all of them so we can use them in baking but you have to be very careful when coloring!)
