Frosty Times - So HOT!

I took this approach cause before big Niece could read herself she wanted me to read the Frozen-story some five whopping times in a row!

And also cause...
This was some happy summer, so join in with Freddie, if you like!

I finally, finally had a day off.
Work is hectic and I took the chance to cook and bake in advance.

Also cause I am frugal - the stove needs at least 15 minutes to heat up - use it wisely.
All 3 recipes bake at 180C / 360F.
So... first off... Pizza muffins:

(our kitchen is small - I needed to use my private workplace)

 Easy-peasy:
  • 3 eggs
  • 100 g curd
  • 100g cheese (+ more for topping! What is life without cheese!)
  • 80g salami
  • 80g feta
  • 80g red pepper
  • chilli, if you like
  • 100g cherry-tomatoes
  • 1 big spoon toato paste
  • oregano, salt, pepper, whatever you like
...chop, mix - needs 30-35 minutes at 180C in the oven, but can sit and wait till it´s their turn.

Don´t forget music or an audio-book or such, this will take a while.

>>>

Next - Onion cake:

  • dough (next time I take filo! The filling is super-yummy, the dough... low-carb but dry to the bone... ):
  • 200g powdered almonds
  • 2 eggs
  • salt,
  • butter for the form

  • filling:
  • 350g onions, sliced
  • 150g curd
  • 150 g Crème fraîche
  • 100g ham (squares)
  • 1 egg
  • salt, pepper - whatever you like
The dough needs 10 minutes in a buttered form at 180C, meanwhile mix the other ingredients, add then - all this needs ca. 20 minutes to  bake, come the time.

>>>

Lasagna - no need for sauce Béchamel:

  • 250g minced, lean beef
  • 1 tin tomato-sauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 250g cottage cheese 😀
  • 250g cheese, whichever your gusto (I took parmesan) plus
  • 50g parmesan as topping (cheese, huh? 🧀)
  • basil
  • lasgana sheets
  • salt, pepper, whatever you fancy
Fry the meat, meanwhile for the sauce mix the cottage cheese with eggs, cheese, basil.
When the meat is crunchy, add tomato-sauce.

Then, as usual: meat, lasagna sheet, sauce, repeat, end with extra cheese > 45 - 60 minutes in the oven.

Start with whatever you want, just jiggle everything correctly so the oven does not need to work overtime.

Lasagna and onion cake-dough went in first, dough out after 10 minutes.
25 minutes later whack in the pizza muffins.
Then as last, ca 5-10 minutes later add the whole onion cake.

Take out and when cooled off freeze after labeling and you have food for weeks and know what´s in there.

And here we are:

Henry (´s cousin) 🦁

I managed to take a pic only and not to buy the bag.

Happy munching!

Honestly, though: I am too dumb to eat lasagna. The rest of the sheets will go with that recipe, broken in pieces in a mix, pasta basta.

OMGosh. The lasagna looks SO good. Now I'm hungry. You are a baking fool (a GOOD thing), but wise to heat the oven just once.

Thank you - who would EVER have guessed that. Nearly 50 years I did not go near a hot oven!

How dumb in the aftermath! ALDI helped me with extra long baking-glovies.
A fellow student once showed me how she burned her arm at the over and boom.... I nearly fell unconscious. All good now for me :-) I´m very, very careful, though.

We're in a warm spell and yesterday I wanted some ice cream. It was a long tiring day, and I never got any, but your painting has more than made up for it. Yummy!!!! Maybe I'll go get some for lunch today. And nice food photos too. You've been busy. Have a great Thursday. hugs-Erika

Nancy, you should try onion cake - I have it right now (without the dough ;-)...)

____

Tom, I think he had this in a bowl, though and also when he was 30 years younger ;-)

____

Erika, hope you enjoyed some ice cream! Not really warm here, so hot- dough-less onion cake is my choice, LOL. To a great Thursday, hugs!

Spare Parts and Pics, actually the (filling of the) onion cake is the best!

A long time ago the best restaurants in our town were called “The Old German” and “Metzgers” and both served German (Swabian) food — they were founded by German immigrant families in the 1920s, and continued for several generations.. One really good dish was Zweibelkuchen. Yours looks delicious! Your cooking looks great.

Delicious post~

Mae, "Metzgers", how funny, reckon no vegetarian dishes, then ;-)
Yes the Zwiebelkuchen (mass) came out great, it´s a good recipe! Our bakery makes one, too - fatty and the onions aren´t really cooked through, so happy I can do that myself now!

Jeanie, LOL, I am "sorry" ;-)

magiceye, thank you.

My daughter once ate a seven scoop icecream and she was only nine years old. She insisted on trying so we let her and she surprised us.
I haven't made lasagna in probably fifteen years. Yours looks delicious.

Iris Flavia said...

9 years old and... wow. I am impressed, LOL!
The lasagna recipe is so easy to make, yet so difficult to eat! Like such a tower of ice creams...

Iris Flavia said...

Was ist denn eine Besenwirtschaft???? Das klingt gar nicht gut!! LOL!
