My Dear Panto, Hello Braunschweig

Captured on the way home ๐Ÿ”
As you maybe know I work for ALSTOM, an international railway-company.
My project is the tram in Frankfurt (that very sadly has some difficulties in the making).

Here, see, we have one in Braunschweig, too.

In this video you not only see many a sign, you see nice views of Braunschweig and some Henries.

(the blue-yellow top-left has nothing to do with Ukraine. It´s about the darn soccer here in town. 2nd or 3rd league only, many - NOT ALL! - hooligans).
Subtitles in English. 0:50 you see one made by... ALSTOM ๐Ÿฅฐ
Note the duck in 04:39 that made it´s way to the "castle", LOL!!!

Before working for ALSTOM I never cared about trams - we live two streets away and now I am aware of all the details I see in technical drawings, descriptions etc, and I always say "hi, Panto" when I see one.

If you care, see German signs and Braunschweig not only from tram-sight in this video.

This is for Tom´s Signs2, of course and...

Henry ๐Ÿฆ

You see me in the video more than once, kids ๐Ÿ˜

So I take it the signs are just advertising for the product and not somewhere that's actually selling it? Places and things around the world are so different from each other.

Yes, the sign is an ad. Don´t you have vehicles that get payed for advertising? Quite common here. Also buses, taxis...

Great little video Iris. I had to watch it twice as my internet bleeped off midway through. And thanks for your comment about mice on my page today. I am with you. Eeeeeu! hugs-Erika

Tom, yes, most drive a car here, too. Well, Wolfsburg and hence Volkswagen is just 40km away... But, Wolfsburg - in contrast to Braunschweig - is ugly ;-)

____

Erika, you´re welcome (video). Yes, ewwwww. Also, I had a mouse, a Gerbil. She was so sweet and clever, too! To animals, hugs

I love German architecture and the statues. So European. Those trains are efficient. Interesting to note that Germans drive on the right side of the street like Americans.

I learned a new German word today! We don't have trams here in my city. I rather like them!

I so enjoyed riding your tram around your beautiful city. I laughed at the duck having a conversation with Henry.

We call them streetcars here and have them all over the older parts of the city and new lines being put in out in the newer areas. Love Henry's family.

magiceye, thank you :-)

____

gigi, I had no idea you drive on the lfet like the Aussies and Poms!
Clichรฉ... I never noticed Magnum P.I. drives on the left - does he?

____

Jeanie, you´re welcome :-)

____

CJ, yes, that duck, huh, LOL!

RedPat, let me know when ASLTOM is among them - or vise versa if I see on the intranet.
Henry says thank you!

Here in the US up till around 1960 many cities had trams or streetcars that ran on tracks and were powered by electricity. They were replaced by bus lines or just discontinued. In some cities, the auto company General Motors bought the streetcar companies and tore out the tracks to make way for more cars (and more profits).

Yes, trams are a great way to get around cities. Minneapolis reestablished one at great cost and have reaped a long list of benefits. They are now planning another line. Unfortunately trams were removed from many American cities in the 1950s and 1960s to make more room for private cars on the streets.

Iris Flavia said...

Mae, a bit sad. I have no car no more and am glad that in case I can rely on public transport.
They go for environmentally-friendly, too.

____

Happy Whisk, I agree :-)

Taken For Granted, a pity, trams are eco friendly(ier), at least the new ones and good for those who just don´t want a car...

What a wonderful video and city scenery. It brought back memories of trams I used to ride in and around Boston in the 60s. I suppose people have to pay to ride on it.

Iris Flavia said...

Bill, yes, we pay, and we use paper-tickets like in the 1960´s, too, buhuu (Perth has the Smartrider card, much more clever...)

Very nice video. I wish we had more trams in Adelaide. When I was very small we had more trams, then the tracks got ripped up and we had buses. Now we have a tram from the Entertainment Centre to Glenelg and back and one that goes along North Terrace to the hospital I think, but that is all. We need MORE!! Trams everywhere please.
