Mumme Mile#2 - We Are One

"Poffertjes are a traditional Dutch batter treat. Resembling small, fluffy pancakes, they are made with yeast and buckwheat flour.
Typically, poffertjes are a sweet treat, served with powdered sugar and butter, and sometimes syrup or advocaat. However, there is also a savoury variant with gouda cheese." (Wiki)

Sadly not here - I´d given the cheesy  a go, cause not many people had a sweet tooth... but, alas... In my opinion they didn´t belong there as they did not use Mum (Mumme).

Bought one for an Aussie-friend. Too long ago. He drove us "home" to Madeley from the airport Perth back then (he also worked there).
Miss him and all of them/you...

Mumme (Wiki) "Brunswick Mum ... was originally an alcoholic beer from Brunswick in Germany, which ranged from weak to strong depending on the brewing method. One of the first black beers recorded in history.

Mum originated in the Late Middle Ages. The composition gave the beer a long shelf life that allowed a wide distribution; Mum became the most important export from Brunswick and, in the early modern period was shipped to places such as India and the Caribbean. The drink is still sold in Brunswick where since autumn 2008, for the first time in about 200 years, it is produced in alcoholic variants."

But I gave up, went into the city and got a...

 ... from a super-busy Muslim restaurant.
I was one of a few non-Muslims.
Now, you expect I was not served, right? (happened at the international food festival!!)
My head was "naked", no man by my side but... I was served.
It took forever.

Cause... it was made fresh!!! YUMMY, but way too much and re-heated it was crap.
Next time I´ll ask for a mini-burger - maybe they do this  - they were nice, as the Muslims where I got my extra-small nuggets!

Next I went to a store where I found something I´ll show you on Tuesday (cause I need artist´s help) - it was hiiiiigh up.

First men I saw I asked for help. Muslims.
Me. Woman without a man by the side.
The taller one did not speak German, his friend translated and the tall one happily gave me what I asked for.

Got also these:

Aren´t they fun? Also... easy to sort.
I plain hate Ingo´s socks. Black. Minor differences, takes you forever to sort them (yes, this is my job, Ingo is the fix-it-guy).

And for brrrr...

Next I nearly ran into a tall... African man.
To my surprise he said "Entschuldigung" (sorry) and dumb me answered "no worries"...
Prejudices!!!! I expected he speaks English, but he really said it in German (maybe German women tend to run into him, LOL).
He gave me a smile.
As did his girlfriend/wife, also African.

I think we will learn to be ONE some time, huh, what do YOU think?

I peeked. There are no answers (CERTAINLY!)... uh-oh, the next year will be tough, Simpsons-wise!!!

And this one... WITH answers on the backside again, I enjoy this calendar a lot:

Ya know. I took off so disappointed Ingo did not want to join me.
But then... it was quality time for myself.
I looked around as long as I wanted. I took my time to decide... do I need this, do I really want this?
With Ingo you have to be quick or he loses his temper.

Henry ๐Ÿฆ

You saw above.

I did not walk the whole "mile".
There were too many people.
Maybe I go this arvo. Maybe not.

Tomorrow the super-stress will start again.

I´ll do anything we match the due date.
I am afraid we won´t.
I want to keep this job.
And this team.

Addendum: This was the Mumme-Mile, Christmas Market starts December 1st.

How fun to walk around the Christmas Market on your own. Looking at what you want to look at, eat, do. I love your Christmas socks. So fun! I wouldn't bother sorting black socks. Who is really going to notice minor differences? ๐Ÿ˜‰And if it really bothers him, as long as his arms and legs aren't broken, he can sort his own socks. ๐Ÿ˜‰

CJ, it was no Christmas Market - it was the Mumme Mile!
Ingo´s socks have different textures, you can see that, SADLY, buhuhhh!!!
Nope, he´ll then say: fix this, fix that and I can not... All good the way it is!

It looks like a good day with a chili cheeseburger. We're having an actual hot weekend, so a cheeseburger would taste great. And nice socks too. You will be one festive lady this holiday season! Thanks for your kind comment too. hugs-Erika

Erika, thank you. I feel for you. We tend to take life for granted but I had to learn a couple of times it is not. And it hurts.
Yet we have to move on. Hugs...

I usually find it is nice to wander on my own even though I like the company if it happens. I can look at what I want and eat when I want to.

I'm unfamiliar with that kind of treat, but it sounds tasty. We love Christmas socks here :)

What a nice post. Having that time to see the market on your own. Fresh chili cheese burger sounds so good. Socks are mine thing. I look for warm fun designed socks. Not into leggins though. I really enjoyed this post, Iris. Have a great day.

RedPat, yes, and today was even better!!!

Divers and Sundry - they are sweet. Nothing for me...
I have so many socks, but I needed those, too! :-)

This looks like such fun -- and you found some great things! The poffertjes sounds good but messy! I'll stick with neater things!

You're right -- we can be one. I learned a long time ago, it begins with me. I mean, taking the initiative to smile or say can I help or ask if everything is all right or just say hello. Our worlds are so much richer when they include relationships -- even passing ones -- with all kinds of people from all kinds of places.

I'd love that chili cheeseburger, even though I'm a vegetarian. It looks good. LOVE those socks. Yes, easy to sort!

Iris Flavia said...

Jeanie, yes, if late in life I learned we do not have to fear people but (mostly) are safe to just walk up and say something nice or ask for help, or offer that. Or just give a smile!
It does cost nothing but is worth so much!

Elizabeth, oh, that burger was yummy - and come Tuesday I´ll make you Hungarian, umm... hungry!

Our Christmas Market was held today. We went and walked around to see what people had. Bought nothing and it was so crowded that we left. It's a one day market and then gone til next year.

Bill, now?! It´s not even December!

The poffertjes are something I grew up with.

In my experience, chili cheeseburgers are a specialty of New Mexico and Arizona!

I hope you have good luck with the job and successfully complete your assignment.

It looks like a wonderful place to wander and decide, to just enjoy the sights and smells. I LOVE the socks. I haven't bought Christmas socks in a long time, I think I will this year and maybe get some for the baby twins if they have them small enough.

Iris Flavia said...

William, here you only can get them on festivals. Always the sweet ones...

____

Mae, you get them everywhere here, at Maccas, Burger King etc, food stalls.... in a Doner-restaurant I didn´t expect that, tough!
We are becoming one!

____

River, it was great indeed, a warm day, too - but PACKED again, so many people!!! Even more than Saturday.
Good luck with the baby-Christmas-socks :-)

Poffertjes are delicious and I also think it is Dutch. But poffertjes with cheese? I've really never seen or tasted it.
