My ticket to Elizabeth´s T.
The journal...
Monday: Hot, hot, hot - not so yippeee when you have to walk 3 km... yearly meetup - first time with a younger woman. We talked about Rudy Rucker´s 4th dimension, she wants the book.
Those mathematicians crack me up.
Gave The Simpsons-book to former boss (also a mathematician) and never got it back!!!
She has to promise to give this one back! It´s from the 1980´s!
I wasn´t even good in math - how come I always end up with this subject?! I told her I tried twice and didn´t get it.
I feel like Homer Simpson when he fell into 3rd dimension! (She knew the episode, of course).
Next time I´ll visit ESE Rudy will join me...
Have you read the book? Did you "get" the 4th dimension? Am I "dumb"?
Tuesday: 08:50 a.m. BOOM! Thunder! This is really weird weather. Then heaviest rain.
And KABOOM we all went into the Fourth Dimension, now admin T requested Ingo´s book about the Fourth Dimension by Rudy Rucker.
I think I will give Rudy a third try before giving that away and make sure I get it back, too!
Ingo said no to try again...?
Wednesday: 02:16 a.m. BOOM!!! Flash!!! Oh, it was wonderful!
Later my admin had a good laugh on my connecting Lisa Simpson´s Conrad, an AI, to our IT-"problem".
Started an online-training of Pilates, finally. Something different to training with D.
Thursday: Fun with Admin and another colleague - no solution, though, but we laughed a lot, see here, if you like. He now calls me "dear Iris". And hence I answered "my dear".
See, he is happily married, two young kids and we get along so well.
He (psssst) also said he will take care of my Aussie-Lenovo before we go to Perth!
2 new sessions of Pilates and 4 with D as no more sitting outside, too cold....
Evening AI at the Simpsons (with Schroedinger´s cat) and Quantum Leap on DVD.
Friday: Admin is into something we´ll check on Monday. 2 colleagues as team eventually want me for INA, Inductive protection of approaching trains. We´ll check this. They are "dumb balises" (not the colleagues, the system!). Actually we are in to ETCS (European Train Control System)! Hmmm. Will I find myself on the rails for real? Will I have to let go of ALSTOM???
How the heck did I end up in railway????
And I LOVE it, too! As said the engineering part, not riding it, don´t tell anyone...
Weekend: Saturday: We went to the city (railway, post to come tomorrow), Ingo had three "bombs" of ice cream and was too sick for a BBQ hence!
Food-wise:
Art-wise:
Which is soon over. Which makes me very sad.
But!!! Not THAT sad, as....
Thank you, Kathy!
And really, when I was at ESE´s other house yesterday, there was an apple tree and apples lying in the grass all around it!

I have heard of the fourth dimension but don't know what it is, but I didn't know there was a book about it. I probably wouldn't understand it. Poor Ingo and the ice cream, maybe next time he has just a tiny bit?
I so far fail to imagine the 4th dimension other than it would be time, but this book describes it visually.
Who the heck eats so much ice-cream - he´s not 20 anymore!
Something weird just happened. I couldn't leave a comment till I logged in. I haven't logged out in MONTHS, and yet I couldn't leave you a comment until I logged in. GRRRR.
I've heard of the 4th dimension, but never read the book. There really ARE 4 dimensions when you include time.
Glad you like railroads, even if you don't want to ride the rails.
Ingo got a bit carried away with the ice cream. I sometimes do that, too. Sorry you missed your bbq, though. You would still love it here. We are in a heat wave for the next few days. Summer is still blazing hot here.
What an adorable LOVE goblet. To summer, dear Iris. Thanks for sharing your calendar, your drawings, and your drink with us for T this Tuesday.
Wow you had 28C still? Our lovely sunny 26C weather turned to cold, rainy 12C weather overnight :( I haven't read that book but the 4th dimension is time (thanks Dr Who lol). Happy T Day! Elle xx
Blogger.... what can I say. There are so many blogs I cannot comment anymore at all, no matter what browser... They mess up with this thing.
No, time in this book is not the solution. He uses balls and I fail to imagine that.
When A-square (whom he gives a tiny height and with that to me he is 3-dimensional... "a bit") get´s a visit from a ball he at first sees a point then a line that gets longer, shorter and a dot again.
But I fail to imagine a 4-dimansinall object entering my 3-dimensional way of seeing things.
Send your heat wave over, please, dear host!
Elle, 12C?! Well in Rudy´s mathematical view it´s a 4-dimensional object... Which I find hard to imagine, see what I wrote to Elizabeth on that.
Time would be too easy ;-)
Good morning, who knows really what is real any more-there probably is a 4th dimension.
I Loveee your wine glass and loved reading about your week with your journal pages.
we have had the perfect weather for our outdoor project but today I just saw we are jumping up to 87 F degrees ugh.
Your postcard made it through with no smudging-yeah
Happy Tuesday and new week hugs from the lake
Well, I´ll try to understand the book this time...
Oh, you have my fav times... you would like our 62...
Yippeeee to the card :-) Hugs to you and the lake!
I hope your summer is still lasting. I like that love glass. It looks like a great way to celebrate. To summer. and to T too. :) And nice happy mail too. I don't have a lot of time this morning so I'm keeping this comment short. Hope you're having a super T day. hugs-Erika
Erika, Summer sadly takes at least a break. But we can still celebrate a good life :-)
Hope it´s good what you´re up to, hugs
It was a very good week. The important ever is to stay good and to live nice moments the máximum possible. Pilates is a good exercise.
I'm not a huge Simpsons fan, but I remember the 4th dimension episode. Quite funny. Math is not my strong suit. I'd rather play with letters. Happy T Day oh and Henry looks especially magnificent
I never really watched the Simpsons on a regular basis so missed the 4th dimension.
Let's hope for a couple more summer days, Iris.
Cheers to summer!
J.S. Vila, I could not agree more :-)
____
CJ, the 3rd dimension :-) Homer usually lives in the 2nd dimension.
Henry says thank you!
____
RedPat it was fun. He lives in the 2nd dimension and tries to escape Marge´s sisters by stepping through a hole in the wall and suddenly all - him included is 3D!
Yes, I do hope summer comes back. Today I saw a guy in a coat :-(
___
Christine: YES!
Super cool post.
Never heard of the 4th dimension but I know the 5th dimension.
Tell!!!! Please! In this book the 4th dimension is "many balls" that come into our 3-D world (It´s not time, it´s a mathematical solution.)
The 5th Dimension is a musical group from the 70s. :)
:-) Very cool! Up, Up & Away :-)
