No Tree For Us (?)

You can get freshly cut, regional, sustainable Christmas trees at this stand near the SC.

We once had a tree I found in the street - the needles I found even years later so... no thank you.

Also I don´t like the Harz. Wiki says: "The Harz is a highland area in northern Germany. It has the highest elevations for that region, and its rugged terrain extends across parts of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia."

No, thank you, I wanna see where I am going, no trees or mountains blocking my view, please!
How about you?
  • real Christmas trees, yay or nay?
  • trees and mountains or the "simple country"?
K the other day grabbed the kids and cut a tree from a field nearby herself.
She´s clever (and obviously does not trust such ads as above) - she told her son: You get a good grade, you get to help cut the tree.
Worked!
The kids were in the car, we talked forever in the cold, but the boy still behaved.
Must be some adventure, cutting a tree (the kids are 12).
No idea where Dad got ours from. Or how!

If I don´t find a tree in the street for free again there will be none for us.

This certainly is for Tom´s Signs2.

Yes, Henry, thank you. But you live at the tourist info! The people there would miss you.

Trees look good on mountains not in homes.

Not a fan of real trees, they just go to waste after Christmas. I've had a fake Christmas tree for over 25 years and still going, even though every year it seems to lose some branches, lol.

I agree a real tree is a lot of work and a bit dangerous. But for those who do get a real one and decorate they are so pretty. Have a very nice day.

We had a fake tree for over 25 years now no tree. We hang ornaments, not many but it keeps it simple. I love simple. :)

I don't mind trees and mountains, there are lots of them where we live, in face I can see through my lounge window lots of bush across the road.

Love mountains and trees! Not a fan of flat land. We had a real tree for years, but a fake one for the past 10 or more. I didn't like killing a tree to use it for a few days. And I sure won't pay $60 for basically a dead tree that I will soon toss out!
For 4 years we bought live, root- balled trees that we could replant. Two of the 4 survived and are now at least 30 feet tall. But then the price soared and we could no longer afford them.
I can't imagine not having a tree though. I have 3 decorated, and several with lights only. All are small, 4' and under, but so pretty.

I use an artificial tree! -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com

We use an artificial tree for the simple reason that we like to keep it up from the beginning of Advent until Epiphany. A cut tree won't last nearly that long.

I have a fake Christmas tree, probably 20 years old by now and I don't have room to put it up in this small space, so I have a couple of smaller ones, also fake from a Cheap-as-Chips shop. I really dislike the idea of paying for a real living tree for only a week or two then it gets thrown out. Better to have a small real tree in your yard or in a pot and decorate that, then after Christmas it just keeps growing. No waste.

I love a real tree. It smells wonderful. I love in a woodland area and you might remember we go to the Christmas tree farm and cut our own. It's a great tradition. Yes, it takes a while to get rid of needles, but when you have 2 dogs, even vacuuming frequently, the dog hair is a constant "problem" so for me, living with needles isn't the worst. Now my fake tree, has white fluffy fake snow on it, and that stuff is a major pain to deal with. More so than tree needles. Have a great Thursday!

magiceye, I agree!

____

Sami, ours sadly froze! It was so cold, he was in a pot in earth on the balcony and sadly that was that, otherwise I´d planted "him" in the garden...
25 years, wow and still enough to spread around in your home, LOL!

____

Nicole, as we don´t have kids... no tree.

____

Bill, to simple!!

____

Amy, same here, trees right in neighbor´s garden (no Christmas-trees, though).

____

Sue, you would love the Harz then! Dad´s trees lived for weeks with us, watered every day. Yet... a waste, kinda - they were always celing-high!
Our root- balled tree froze to death, I am still sad.

____

Christine, we have none. But we do have deco!

____

Divers and Sundry, I "secretly" have Christmas-deco here up all year :-)

____

River, I have never seen a Cheap-as-Chips-shop! Sounds "dangerous" ;-)
As you know our pot tree died of the cold. Poor George!

____

Erika, I remember the smell, yes! Also the smell when it takes fire! A bit, but bad enough for my nerves, LOL.
Funny the fake one gives you more trouble. We have two vaccuum cleaners I need to get rid off, just offering ;-)
Hugs and to a great holiday!

I adore trees -- indoors and out. And it really bothers me to see trees cut down, except Christmas trees, which are grown for that.I would prefer a real tree but I put it up way too early to have one, so all mine are artificial.

Moot point for me since I avoid this holiday.
