Today I join Rain´s Thursday Art and Dinner Date with Spoons.
Well, it´s but one spoon, but a happy one!
I got sesame seeds which were past their "best-before"-date but still yummy and hence cheaper.
I often look for products like that not only cause I´m frugal but... Ingo don´t say a word! - because I think best before does not mean "bad" as long as nose, eyes and taste buds say OK.
I got tofu, an egg-yolk and mixed those two with the sesame, on into the pan. I added fresh, cut, raw mushrooms, shortly cooked broccoli, lemon grass, Garam Masala and coconut milk.
Quick, easy, yummy. And inexpensive.
And no, there was no recipe.
Jamie Oliver taught me well, I just do.
Bad: I cannot really repeat this - how do you cook, free or from real recipes?
This was really cool, cause...
Sometimes I love to roam on my own and then I find time to browse and buy, in this case at Kakulas Sister (the Brothers are to follow).

Cute spoon art and love the sound of your tofu dish
Such fun art, loving the spin and broccoli 😀. Your meal looks delish too. Happy and creative wishes ❤️. Hugs, Jo x
I agree about savings to be had when finding things past their "sell by" date. At least with those tests to make sure they're still good. Mmm, your soup does sound yummy!
The food looks great, Iris. I have never seen ground lemongrass but will have to look for it.
That broccoli soup looks delicious. Which reminds me... it's time for lunch!
Hello Kathy, thank you, I still have broccoli today! Hugs to you and the lake - it is soooo cold here, brrr.

Spare Parts and Pics, hope you had a good yum!
I cook from recipes that are so well remembered that I don't need the book, but sometimes I just throw things together and hope it comes out good. I am not so adventurous these days, my stomach knows what it likes.
Happy weekend, Iris! Your happy spoon made me smile. I don't worry too much about expiration dates. For a period, as a child, I lived in a remote village in Northern Ontario. Main food supplies were delivered once a year by tractor train over the frozen muskeg. Anything else had to be flown in on the mail plane once a week, except for freezeup and breakup when the plane couldn't land on the lake. As long as the cans weren't bulging, we ate them. My husband would love how frugal you are. I'm not frugal enough for him ~ lol! I have lots of things I make without a recipe, except for baked goods. I often makeup things to use up what's in the fridge. Your dish looks delicious! Have a great weekend!
Love the hand drawn spoon. I cook what I have on hand. I doubt I could ever make the same recipe twice.
I love your spoon drawing Iris, it's so cute!! The soup looks yummy. I usually follow recipes the first time, then I take what I like and change it up to something I think is better! When it comes to soups, I don't usually use a recipe though, just throw everything into the pot and cross my fingers lol!
