As often, or now and then, a fellow blogger triggers my mind - this time it was Jeanie with this post on a tornado and the treasures she found in the cellar, seeking safety! Events in our lives on a big scale! And since you see our faces I join the soon Birthday girl, Nicole´s FFO.
Maybe this "counts":
I was a very, very shy kid and the kindy-lady thought it might help me to play the princess in a play - I did only because the prince to be was my friend :-) He said, "we can do that!" - sadly I lost contact. And no, we never kissed.
I just share what my comment was and maybe - if you haven´t commented at Jeanie´s already - or even if - share with me?
I said (and asked and got the OK that I may share):
"Tornado-warning sounds SO SCARY!
When we were in Darwin, Australia, we went to the NT museum - there was a warning, a dark room and you could hear cyclone Tracy (Christmas 1974) - horrible.
9/11 I was in the office in the VW plant in Wolfsburg. CNN only had the homepage, colleagues who had loved ones in New York tried to phone them - all were OK, luckily.
Ingo was at work - the shop sold TVs and the news were on. Customers thought it´s a movie.
I think world-wide everyone knows where we were when the tragedy, the weirdness happened...
And we all were excited about Obama, yippeee - I am still sad he is not president anymore (we had 16 darn years of "chancellor" Merkel).
Kennedy I only know about from documentaries. So sad.
Moon: Ingo was 4 years old, his parents dragged him out of bed to watch on TV and he didn´t understand why he had to watch a comic in the middle of the night ;-)...
Luckily we have no tornado-warnings (yet). Our cellar is very, very small - and full to the brim.
You should frame all the articles and hang on a wall! Precious!"

Can you join Jeanie, do you have articles from "back then"?
If so, please share!!!
This post of her was so super-interesting!!!
Smiles.... for Annie... rather hard this workless week, other that colleagues constantly take care of me.
And some funnies, of course!
(no, I never did drugs)

Off to a brain MRI soon. Am a bit afraid. Bet it will be OK. (Which would mean hospital, but - SMILE!)
P.S. Not so funny: The lady at the doc said "Friday", 29th, my brain kept the phonetic - it is MONDAY - BUT - YIPPEEEEEEEEEE - seems I have a work-project!!!! We had a meeting today and it´s looking good!

I remember Cyclone Tracy, we lived in Brisbane at the time and my baby was 22 months old with the next one due in two months. I remember the call for donations for families that had lost everything, I gave a few baby clothes and toys.
Oh, boy, really!!! I got so darn scared in that room! You could hear metal "bending" - it was SO scary. And before you enter that room you see pics of Darwin before Tracy hit and a Christmas scene, a table with magazines from the era, a small Christmas tree.... it was.. a "bummer".
I just wanted out of that dark room.
I am glad I live in boring, old Germany! (at times)
Nice memories and art. Thanks for the smiles too. -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
Thank you and you´re welcome :-)
I remember where I was for most of those events. Fortunately we don't get excesses of nature to that extent here, nor major political events, but living in a semi-rural area, a lot of city life passes us by.
Nice frog and some good funnies.
Don't worry about the MRI. Whatever the problem, it is good to know so you can deal with it. Kate x
Kate, thank you, you are right, at least they find out what the problem might be. We should be thankful for what we have in the medical sector! x
...and you always say that you aren't a dancer?
Fantastic sharing
Much♡love
Tom, that was more "stomping around" ;-)
_____
Gillena, thanks.
Seeing the date on the “dancing with my prince “ made me feel old. I was a senior in high school that year.
Gene, I´m sorry. If it helps... I had the same feeling of being old seeing it ;-)
Get old or die, there is no other option, hence: Let us get old - WITH FUN!
That's a great view of you being the Princess Iris. And it's wonderful you have a photo in the newspaper too. Well good that it made it into the paper and good that you still have the paper. I was once in paper for starting up a new class while teaching, (and I even won an award for it), but I have to look for where it is because I don't know off the top of my head. Now that is probably sad too. I hope you have a great weekend ahead. and thanks for sharing this photo and article. hugs-Erika
I hope all goes well with your scan. Will be thinking of you.
Hugs,
Annie x
Erika, it was a pain, LOL - I hate when people look at me. Or take pics... ask Ingo.
Hope you find yours!!! An award, very cool! To a great weekend, hugs,

Annie, thank you - a good feeling, hugs and to a great weekend.
Congrats on the new project, Iris.
I love the black dot puzzle!
RedPat, thank you, I am so relieved to hopefully have work I might solve the puzzle ;-)
I still subscribe to the local newspaper; it's a great ritual to turn the pages. I used to save articles about Jackie Kennedy, but discarded them later when I lost interest in her.
We get the weekend Newspaper on the doorstep for free. Nice!
I wrote a long comment this morning when I was waiting at the beauty parlour to have my facial. (She was running late so I had a bit of time) But where is that comment? Vanished in thin air?
Now it's evening and I'm trying to remember what I wrote. I thought it was great to have a picture of yourself in the local newspaper as a princess. How cool is that!
I have never experienced a tornado. (Luckily) but I've been in many earthquakes. That can be scary. When I moved to the UK I would freeze every time a heavy lorry thundered past (that's the noise an earthquake makes) and I would look up at the lamp to see if it was swinging.
I too watched the moon landings on tv (black and white of course) and found it fascinating. I remember Kennedy's murder too. On 9/11 I was in the Scottish Highlands with a group of geologists doing research. We stayed in basic accomodation without phone signal or tv. We knew something had happened but didn't know what. We didn't know until the day after what had happened (I still have the newspaper I bought there) and didn't see those harrowing tv footages until the next week when I got home.
You have another project? Yippee!! That's great!
Thank you for the funnies.
Try not to be scared for the scan, but if you are afraid of enclosed spaces, let the staff know how you feel. Of course they can't make it any bigger, but at least they will understand your discomfort. On the positive side, it's good to find out what is happening inside yourself. Isn't modern technology wonderful. (and the fact that we have access to it).
Have a lovely weekend,
Lisca
I'm so glad you shared your memories on my post and here, too. They are special, aren't they, and thinking back really triggers some feelings and emotions. I love, love, love that you were the princess. I wonder where your prince ended up.
Great post. Yes, tornado warnings are scary as are Tsunami and hurricanes. I was in a tornado in Oklahoma when my daughter was getting married. Then the first year we lived here in Oregon we had a tsunami. Not fun at all. I really like your kissing frog. I don't have any memorabilia from those times, but I was there. LOL Thank you for joining FFO and have a very nice weekend.
I forgot to ask Why are you having a brain scan? I hope they don't find anything nasty.
For myself they would probably look and say "Nope, no brain here" ha ha.
Oh, Lisca, I am sorry! By now I write comments in an editor and save them cause blogger did that too often to me also!
Thank you for trying again!
Well, I was like really shy and seeing that pic I did only much later, my parents knew I´d freak out, LOL.
Earthquales sound as scary, luclily I really live in a "boring" area!
I grew up the first years with black and white TV, too.
Oh, not knowing must´ve been bad! I understand at least you had no loved ones in New York?
Research for real is cool! I only do that online...
99% I start a new project on Monday!
And no I am not afraid of the space or noice, I had that before - I am afraid of the outcome.... But, you are right, great we have the technology and help!!!
To a lovely weekend!

Jeanie, LOL, yes, so sad I lost my Prince. My Brother is named after him as second name even!
And the pastor at the wedding mixed it up and asked, "Will you, Thomas K...." - FIL: "Now, who is THOMAS?!!!" I still laugh about that... Hups, my bad...
_____
Nicole, Oh, boy, you sure live(d) in a scary area then. When getting married, yikes, your daughter sure will remember that as special day (we had a rainbow and a little rain in the summer heat in Perth - much better).
Frog says thank you :-) We wish you a nice weekend!
____
River, yep, I suspect they will say exact that, "no brain found" ;-)
I was so dumb to listen to our doctor 5+ years ago when my toes started feeling numb. She told me not to worry. Now it´s both feet till the middle feeling numb.
January I went to see a neurologist, he found nothing and ordered the brain scan. January!
End of April I finally can get the scan.
Cardiologist still nothing. Germany goes down the drain with it´s health-system....
(Thank you for asking, I hope they find an easy solution)
I wrote a long response yesterday which got lost when we drove out of internet service lol. But yes I remember many world events. The earliest was Hurricane Hazel when I was 3. I remember sitting in the house while the storm raged, then it was suddenly clear. We went outside and there was hail, so big one piece filled my littlevhand. Then Mom called us back in because it was the eye of the storm. I remember being confused by that, kept looking at the sky for an eye!
Then there was all the fear of communism and nuclear attacks, hiding under our desks during air raid drills. Kennedy's election, Bay of Pigs i remember watching Kennedy on TV with my Dad. He was impressed that I was interested but truth is I just liked being with my Dad! Kennedy's assassination, the his brother and MLK...so much unrest and trouble in those days.
Hi Iris, sorry I'm so late. Something came over me on Friday and I ended up in bed for the rest of the day but nearly back to normal now. Thick I had eaten something that didn't agree with me but no idea what it was. The black spot funny drives your eyes crazy but very clever. Hope your weekend is a good one. Hugs Angela xXx
