On the way past TU (Technical University) I spotted Peanut (our wild squirrel)´s very, very young cousin. Seems like Cousin early on knows studying is the way ;-)

Long ago at Ingo´s old place we had a BBQ.
We sat in the dark outside and when we got inside I grabbed the plates and put them by the sink to do the washing up and ... oh! A baby bat had sneaked in the middle!
Ingo carefully grabbed it, brought it outside and held it to a branch. It still had reflexes and clung on.
Next morning it was gone.
Once at the customer I found a bat, too. We opened all windows and off it flew. It found shelter for the night there somehow.
Because, yes, us humans take their homes away... be gentle if they pay you a visit.

That's a sweet story about the baby bat. It's important to be kind to all animals, even the ones we might find a bit scary.
In our area, if you see a bat in your house you must be very careful to capture it without handling it, and you must be sure to call the authorities and have it checked for rabies. In fact, bats do bite, sometimes without being noticed — and if you have been in the same room with it you may be at risk for rabies which is fatal if not treated preventively. From your remarks and the photo you show, I assume that in your area this is not the case.

Max is too cute for words! And loving Peanut's cousin. Here we are wary of bats -- rabies and that's a real issue if you get a bite!

Bats are supercute and important -sometimes we see them flying over our balcony, we have a bat-detector (this summer was too crap to sit outside late). Have a great weekend, too.
I´m not scared about bats. They are cute. And if they eat the mossies away, they are even more welcomed! One summer was warm and we detected some with out bat detector - they really came near to my face it was fascinating!
The picture is from Facebook, but yes, ours here don´t have that risk.

As far as I know ours are not a danger, rabies-wise. If you get bitten by a dog or such, you are... actually you should get a shot every 10 years against the danger. Huh.... haven´t in over 20 years!

Bats are wonderful animals, and very misunderstood. We have one that occasionally visits our desert house!
Lucky you! In warm summer nights (this year hence not) they come very near to munch the mosssies! You sit on the balcony and... whooosh - thank you, mate!
An bat flew in our house the other day.
I love that Max has a heat cushion and that bats get rescued. Our Adelaide bats are bigger and carry diseases so we avoid them, but they never come around the houses anyway, they live in the trees close to the zoo. Hundreds of them and they look like big seed pods when they hang upside down sleeping.

I like bats, and so many of ours here have died from a fungus disease. I used to see a lot of them and then this year, none. And now we have more mosquitoes. THanks for sharing this because so many people think bats are bad. hugs-Erika
