FFO, Yum, Smiles And Humanity

With this Zeiss-glasses-poster-guy from my parent´s house (optometrists) I join Nicole´s FFO.

I have the day off again, got up at 05:00 a.m. and will have to try and manage to get the darn taxes done, wish me luck. I have to start at zero as I got a new program. All the darn data again. Just cause I inherited two condos.

I need a quick meal  for that, with which I join Gilenna´s Lunch Break:

Very quick, easy and yummy.

Well, and this is for Annie´s Smiles:

I have again something wonderful at Facebook for you - this is not my story, I only found it and want to share:

"Damn, That's Interesting

Tonight I witnessed an act of kindness which brought me to tears. We went out to eat at Cracker Barrel. As we were almost finished, we noticed an elderly woman sitting all alone, drinking a milk and waiting for her meal.

A million thoughts went through my mind. She looked so very lonely.. Is she widowed? Where is her family? Why is she at a restaurant at almost 8pm (which is stereotypically like midnight in old people time).

Also seated next to us were 3 big, burly, middle aged, blue collar, hard working, hungry men.
I asked Tom if we should buy her dinner or if we should go sit with her... then one of our boys did/said something which momentarily distracted us but when we looked back up, these big burly guys were moving the frail elderly woman to their table.

We continued to watch them interact. The woman was smiling from ear to ear, her face all lit up and she was just a-talking like she hadn’t talked to another human in a very long time. I seriously was choked up, as was Tom.

As we left, we left them some money for their meal and Tom thanked them for restoring our faith in humanity... I snapped a picture but really, I will forever remember this moment.

More smiles:

Other happy things you find on T-Tuesday, where I "by tradition" follow a sadly passed blogger, who started this.

Now for some funnies?

HA!, Tom, THERE  she is!

 Did you know:

My life since weeks. My friend has the same problem.
Ingo gives his very best   but it is SO DARN frustrating!!!
And of course, fitting to Yoda..

"Albert Einstein's creative and brilliant quotes

About technology

"I fear the day when technology surpasses our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots."

Remember the days when you navigated in your car with a paper-map?
After you got the data from the paper-yellow-pages?
And you actually arrived, even if you had to stop and ask real people for help?
When you really needed to learn another language by heart etc, etc?

Let us remember that and have a great Friday!

After all it´s Friday 13th! My Mom used to say, "this is my LUCKY day!"

Lucky, btw, this I just found:

... as far as I remember, Lucky, the cat, always escaped.

As said, please wish me luck...

Hopefully by now your taxes are finished. I lobe the story about the old lady and the burly men. And Colonel Sanders (KFC) being a billionaire at age 88--there's hope for me yet.

"lobe"??? "love"

You´re welcome :-)

Hahaha... I installed the Software - but I can´t find on the PC... Yes, cute story, huh. And yes, there is still hope! :-)

My taxes are pretty simple, but I hate doing them anyway.
Thanks for the lovely stories and smiles you shared today.

This is Germany... and I sadly HAVE to do this idiot-stuff... Glad you liked the story/funnies :-)

Iris Flavia said...

Das weiß ich, bin in der IT - aber was bedeutet es, wenn es kleingedruckt ist?

Iris Flavia said...

The taxes are on hold for now cause I need Info from the darn office.
Thank you for making me look for things to make others smile :-) Hugs x

Iris Flavia said...

Thank you and for you, too!

Your Day off sounds like hard work, hope you're managaing to get everything done. I noticed you said the taxes are on hold so maybe you'll be able to do something more interesting. The story about the old lady made me both happy and sad, there must be so many just like her. Take care. Hugs Angela xXx

Love the Einstein quote today, Iris. It is so true.
Great funnies for the day.

Doing taxes on your day off is not the most fun. I hope you have finished them by now. Well done if you have and you deserve a drink.
I enjoyed your happy post today and giggled at the funnies. (wifi signal, haha. That was me yesterday. So frustrating). And the twins are so cute with their funny t-shirts.
Btw, my Internet is back. Hurray!
Have a lovely weekend,
Lisca

You´re welcome, gigi. Nice this story makes so many smile!

Iris Flavia said...

Then no drink for me.... I need to wait for a letter to Ingo to start with my new program, ack!
Yippeeee to your internet being back. Ingo is working on the problem...
Have a lovely weekend!

Angela, well, actually taxes were due... but yes, something more fun to do!
Yes, happy-sad. I remember Nonno Duilio - he was in his 90´s and still worked, as in serving wine to tourists like us, living with his family. I don´t speak Italian, he no English (or German), but I didn´t need to ask: He was happy, I could see that! Hugs xXx

Ahhhh, danke! :-)

I try to speak to older people who are eating alone. I always get the most brilliant smile. I am not too far from being one of those old people myself!

Then she would not bite me... ;-)

Yes, these days family does not do the job anymore. Our dear neighbor W lost his wife, kids nearby - I never saw them. Before he had a heart attack we went to the brewery together, when we meet in the street we chat, I invited him to home baked food... seems us neighbors are there, not his children. Sad...

Iris Flavia said...

If my Mom was still alive I would not have to do that. In Germany only when you own a condo or such you HAVE to. Otherwise it´s an option...

oooh lemon noodles? That wounds intriging. To answer your question about my work opening at 8am. I work in kind of a place that sells all sorts but it's not a supermarket. Supermarkets here open at 7am so people can still buy their breakfast stuff etc.

Iris Flavia said...

Wow, then you are super-early!!! Here they open at 10am! Stupid when you go to the city for an early doc-appointment and when done... everything still closed but the bakeries!

Ahhh yeahh. Sexy 70s guy. LOL I really love reading stories like the one of the older lady. It is lonely when you get older especially in the US. I love all of your funnies and Einstein was so right. Thank you for joining FFO and have a very nice weekend.

Good luck with your taxes. I find them stressful.

Iris Flavia said...

Thank you. For now it´s delayed...

Iris Flavia said...

Iris Flavia said...

More 70´s posters on the way :-)
Taxes is delayed and I think before that isn´t done and dusted,I just cannot sketch!
I fear loneliness... but right now, Sun is out,so... nice weekend.

Thank you, luck I really need.
Yes, it must be awesome to have a twin to grow up with. My Brother is over 5 years younger, I grew up pretty lonely after kindy and friend´s meetings.
But now... to smiles x
