T STands For Toilet

Henry 🦁 can´t get enough... of this smell... the other..

Ingo presented me with Faber Castell crayons (the smell, ohhhh... sandle-wood!) and... bare with me, I never learned how to draw and I don´t have the patience for youtube-videos or... sorry, Kate, I´m stuck a bit... books.

 But I tried!

We visited many a dunny, or loo, as Aussies call an outdoor toilet (or left or right in the middle of nowhere, just remember, LOL. And collect the loo-tickets, don´t burn them!! You might start a bush-fire! I nearly did, I never ran that fast after burning toilet-paper!!!)
Sorry about the "kindy-incident"... I really assumed everybody says that...

Got this in Perth and... in my defense... I was trying to capture the loo when Ingo came in, took it away to admire it.
Yah, great idea. Not.
Angle all wrong now.

As maybe you know I "grew up" with 60-90 second-sketches... this took like forever (for an impatient person). At least half an hour for one loo-pic!

I had the BOSE on, with Freddie. Wishful thinking, he studied Graphic Design.

Ingo suggested I add some blowies.
The Aussies (Australians) call their flies blowies.
See an Aussie blow air or wave... those flies. They go at your face. There are lip-blowies, nose-, ear- and eye-blowies. They keep attacking, want your fluid in this dry land. They are tiny.
Aussies seem so friendly due to all the waving (kidding, they ARE friendly!).

The blowie on top... Ingo said it looks like a flying pig. I never managed to get this away...

My week.... "so exciting"....
Monday topped it off. I am not much able to order Ingo´s bread, because they know when I call and what I want, this time it wasn´t even labelled!!

Tuesday I sent out another Application, quit an e-mail-provider and sent the 5th mail to the caretaker of my tenant cause the service charge settlement-"bill" is a mystery.

Wednesday, when she wanted to call me in the morning... nothing all day, 6th mail, no response.

Thursday the laundry was dry, yippee, I searched for my outdoor-cellphone loading cable, no success, but I cleaned up.
Ingo, meanwhile, modified a cable and (yes he can do that) ... hello Murphy, I found the original. Now we have a spare.

Waited again for the darn half cousin (caretaker). The phone finally rang.
NOISE. An Indian guy telling me to turn my PC on. I said, "you have the wrong number, my PC is OK" - "MADAM! Turn on your PC!!!" (In Indian-German)
Second time the phone rang it was a woman asking me the same, getting the same answer, third time I kinda then YELLED in English that THIS.IS.THE.WRONG.NUMBER!!!!

I worked in third level EHD (also), so I know phone calls are written down. How come they kept calling?! I wait for an important call after all! (And my PC is OK!)
What a day.

Friday just sport and reading.

Sat....

My idea, Ingo´s cooking, Beamtenstippe. It was so yummy, I had a second helping.
After...
Ingo was hungry early and then went down for a nap on his sofa.
When I finally was hungry, the potatoes were gone!! I looked everywhere!!!
Finally had to wake him.

Guess. To keep them warm he put them in the bed under the cover.
Living with a man 8 years older.
How was I supposed to know?! (Good idea, though. Not even my Grandma did this!)

Sunday sleep in, a lazy day with kid´s programs, it was a great Sunday.

As this is for Elizabeth´s "T Stands For Tuesday"...

Henry you saw in first pic. He´s disappointed I took the Faber away.

Not all of our flies are the "blowies", those are the fat bluish or greenish ones that buzz and lay eggs in any meat they can find uncovered or really pretty much in anything else, and those are the ones that hang around the dunnies, also lay their eggs on sheep, around their bottoms (popo) which is why you often see mobs of sheep with all the wool cut away from that area, it is called "crutching" the sheep and saves the sheep and the wool. When you see Aussies in the outback blowing or waving around their heads, those are the very tiny bush flies they are waving away, the ones that get into the corners of your mouth, eyes and nose.

I love your journal!!!

Popo. Yes, I vividly remember these icky, greenish, fat ones, brrrr.... yikes!
Well, the blowies we had followed plain everywhere!
And maybe you can explain this:
Moon desert (near Ooodnadatta), there is literally nothing. We get out of the car.... blowies! Loads of them. How???? Where were they before we got out?!
Luckily we had nets over our faces, but still I wonder?
Can you explain? Do they sit under the "rocks", i there enough "water" from the night?

Bertiebo, thank you :-)

Interesting comment from River. Nicely done. I call it a loo, too. Never heard of a dunny before. Sure like the drawings, though. They were great and nicely colored, too.

Cute calendar pages this week. Your laundry is far more colorful than mine. Loved the story about the potatoes in bed, though.

I'm not a fan of anything strawberry unless it is fresh with its little green hat still on it, so your drink DOES sound too sweet to me, too. Thanks for sharing your new pencils, your drawings, your calendar, and your strawberry drink with us for T this Tuesday, dear Iris.

Yes, they have loads of insects over there - if I´d known before I´d never visited, LOL Glad Ingo didn´t tell me!

Thank you for hosting again, it´s always fun to join you!

Potatoes under the covers?

Iris Flavia said...

So, you wouldn´t look there, either, huh?!
But they were really still warm!

...my youngest granddaughter would love those art supplies, her birthday and Christmas is coming!

They are SO worth it, really. I have LAMY for the little journal, compared to Faber a pain! It´s really very good quality and it´s fun using those, Santa.

A dunny figurine! 😺 And your dunny drawings are awesome. You don't give yourself enough credit how good your drawings are. The phone calls about the PC sound like some sort of scam. Chupa Chups. That just jogged my memory. My Aussie friend, Kaz, sent the girlies some Chupa Chups lollipops. I think they were shaped like a lizard. Happy T Day!

Iris Flavia said...

Thank you, oh, well. I was at least patient!
Somehow. ... many people say I make myself smaller than I am, but I was raised like that. Not healthy...
They stopped calling me after I got really grumpy.
I think I remember those lollies. Ours were round, though, if I remember right.

I have heard of dunnies but we would say Loo.your drawings are great
. I thought the calls about the PC sounded like a scam too.
My DIL is Polish and she cooks potatoes and wraps them in a tea towel and puts them under the duvet, not something I’d seen before.
Happy T Day
Jan

Jan, thank you. And yes. scam it must´ve been. Potatoes in bed, really, too funny - and clever!

I think your art is wonderful. Great depth, color and shading. You always make me laugh. Well most of the time. Your journal is great and the food looks yummy. Have a great day today.

Such a fun post to continue the dunny reference, I smiled when you blamed CJ too ...lol 😉. Your drawing are amazing and I so enjoyed your journal pages. Such a fabulous gift, I love Faber-Castell too! Wishing you a Happy T Day! Hugs Jo x

Divers and Sundry, yes, it smells so lovely!
Beamtenstippe is YUM, just give it a go! My Mum used to make it.

Your drawings are wonderful!

You need to give yourself some drawing credit Iris. Those sketches are actually good! I could tell what it was when you showed the item with it. And I had to laugh about the potatoes in bed. I have never heard of that, but I guess it is better than leaving them in an oven or pan where you have to pay for the power or where they could even overcook. nice post. Hope you've had or are having a great T day. hugs-Erika

Iris Flavia said...

RedPat... thank you!

Erika, thank you, too. Yes, those potatoes. Now I know... after way more than 20 years... he surprises me still!! Hugs from here!

I think your sketches turned out great. You don't need tutorials you just need to practice everyday. Everyone that gives drawing tips said that you should sketch everyday items in your home on a daily basis. I have started doing this and it is less stressful and I can see some improvement. And no tutorial needed.
Crazy about all those people calling you. I would have stopped answering my phone. I hope you hear back about one of the jobs.
So sweet of Ingo to buy you those wonderful crayons. Have fun with them!
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

Iris Flavia said...

Thank you, yes, I started with the journal now daily, not weekly (reckon you speak of a little more, though ;-)...)

Problem was I waited for an important phone call... aw, well, they stopped after the third one.

Yes, Ingo can be sweet at times :-)

But were they blowies? Big and sometimes buzzing? Or were they tiny and everywhere, like dozens at a time sitting on the back of your shirt? They are the bush flies, more common in the outback, smaller than common house flies, actual blowies are bigger than house flies, almost like bee size. If they were proper blowies, there must have been some sort of food around for them, dead meat somewhere, like snake or lizard or food scraps left behind by inconsiderate people.

Potatoes in the bed - now that might be the most interesting thing said this T-day! Wow. How fun is that and how smart!!! The food looks good. Love your drawings! Your loo pictures and your journal. I agree with Elizabeth - your laundry is way more colorful than mine. Good luck with your application!

Yes, a scam for sure on your calls. We get tons of calls from credit supposed credit card companies where we don't have credit cards - so frustrating!

Wow - I hate flies and bugs so not sure I would like an adventure where there are tons of them and they try to attach to you... sounds frightful!!!

Happy T-day, Iris! Sorry I am late!!!

Jeanie said...

I love your drawings of the loo -- lots better than I would do, for sure! Oh, what an annoying batch of calls. Probably scammers but especially bad when you are waiting for a call yourself. UGH!

Lisca said...

Your drawings of the outdoor loo are really good!
Those phone calls are so annoying. I luckily don't get many. I usually start speaking English if I get an unknown number. I pretend not to understand and then hang up.
Yes, I like the smell of pencils too.
Flies are very annoying. But here we get those tiny flies (yes, looking for moisture) and they sting. They are so small, I can hardly see them, and what's more: the get through the flyscreen!
I had to laugh at your flying pig! Ingo is right, that is what it looks like...lol.
I'm sorry to be late again, but as I've mentioned before, we are not home on a Tuesday and I can't get to my computer.
Happy belated T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca

My husband told me about the flies (or blowies) in Australia and said how annoying they were. He actually was wearing a net over his hat that covered his face. Years later, our entire family wore them in Alaska (and other Northern parts), but not because of flies but mosquitoes. Super annoying. - Your outhouses are quite cute, I'm not sure why you think they aren't good or you don't have any talent.

Sharon Madson said...

I really get frustrated with robo calls and those calls about my computer. They just keep calling! I hope you finally got the call you were waiting for. That bowl of food Beamtenstippe looks good and I don't even know what it is! LOL No, I looked it up by your link. It sounds good too. I am glad you found the potatoes. Have a great week!

Iris Flavia said...

River!! I´ll look up for pics, promise. Ingo´s back... BLACK!!
And even in Perth , well Madeley... Blowies!!

Oh, yummy. from dead lizards to my lips. ewww!!

___

Nancy, thank you and yes to the rest of it!! If I´d known before of all the crawling, attacking insects... Glad I didn´t know - it´s a beautiful place!

____

Jeanie!!! You´d do a LOT better than me drawing!!

____

Lisca, ewwww.... Sandflies... I looked like .. oh, boy - the got me everywhere, tiny and mean!

YES, they went through the flyscreen!!!!

Pigs can fly ;-)

Hugs, dear fly-attacked fly-friend

Carola, yes, we had nets, too, and people asked us where from. Hm. Germany. Bundeswehr....
Aw, well. I´m never content with my "work" - I always think I could do better...

___

Sharon, those were real people and I was about... screaming...
Nope, not the call - it is for my tenant and I asked another person.

LOL, yes, potatoe-hunt!

The blowies are short for blowflies, horrible things, the gross ones full of maggots. Waving at flies is the Aussie National Salute lol Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
