So. I needed a "Corinna-test". Negative, what else. I keep my distance (and knock on wood).
Fun side note: Teamleader is back, safe and sound from Kiev (a lot "rusty", though, I think he gained 10+ years being in that stupid war) and one team member here is sick with Corinna.
Him... "oh, that triple-boostered guy?!... 'kidding `", he said - but yes, the German stuff really does not seem to work!
Anyhows, this is a great service, only problem: You have to wait 15-20 minutes for the test.
So, what do you do?
Yes, you go shopping.
And suddenly I had a piece of tofu in my hand!!!
So, what now, ask Mr google and he gave me Tofu Bœuf Stroganoff.
Or, as you call it, Beef Stroganoff.
Yes. That is a Russian dish. So, what.
Reckon most Russian people are nice and don´t want to do any harm to anybody.
Looks good, huh?
Henry 🦁 gives you the answer...
Or, if you were as foolish as I was... spice it up, baby.
This is for Wednesday @ Kathy.
For Tom you can look here.

Good morning Iris, I am up with leg cramps tonight-ugh
When I was a vegetarian back in the 70's and 80's I made my own tofu from scratch from the beans-there are allot of steps to it but you end up with all sorts of food by products too so very cheap to eat. I ended up having dietary issues with soy products so now I have to stay away from it.
I used to sneak tofu in dishes when we were first married back then-Larry always knew it was in there haha so it became a joke-No tofu please haha
I used to make a good grilled barbecued piece of tofu but it is an acquired taste for sure.
Thanks for sharing with us for Food Wednesdays.
Happy your co worker is back safe from the war-hugs
Oh, dear Kathy, I think this tofu maybe was just "crap"!
I once made a dish with tofu, white wine, mushrooms and lemon grass, it was super yummy!
I will try this again! (Certainly no recipe)
That was 2008 when Ingo was in hospital.
From scratch, wow. Beans? And I learn so much, thank you and hugs!
Could be tofu should be pretty fresh and firm as well. Yes it is really a miracle food full of protein made from the soy bean-back then I make soy milk from the beans too. tofu is an acquired taste and texture for sure.
It´s not really for this dish, but I will eat it up!
Got this tofu from dm - they actually sell shampoo and stuff. It´s a crazy world.
This tofu came in a plastic that was not even refrigerated. "Go guess". In my defense... they poked my nose hard for the Corinna-test! And I wore a mask. Foggy view, LOL.
I do know people are still catching covid with the boosters, but a much weaker form. My walking friend has it now, said it is just like a cold, and I've known several others who have had it but in a very mild form. So your team leader sounds like people I know. That dish does look good, and of course the Russian people are nice too. It's just Putin and his close cronies. You dish does look good also. A nice light meal. Hope your week is going well. It's cold here this AM, and more wind. I want a not so windy day so I can finish cleaning up leaves from last fall. Hugs-Erika
Interesting tofu stroganoff, yes, we do muss the meat with the vegetarian dishes. Thanks for sharing!
I actually made beef stroganoff once and liked it. I wonder why I never made it again...
It does LOOK good! Never been a fan of tofu though... Happy Food Wednesday... Glad to hear your team leader is home safe and sound if a little worn.. Hugs! deb
This looks good. I make beef stroganoff and then can it. I will have to try it with tofu. Have a lovely day Iris.
Erika, I was lucky so far, Ingo, too. Cronies - new word learned!
Quite warm here, yipeeeee. But. Too much work (also yipee?). Hugs!
____
Christine, I will add spice, spice and spice ;-) It tasted... boring.
_____
Divers and Sundry, Jamie Oliver has a great recipe (haha, THE secret, not) - will follow him next time!!!
____
deb, I´m out there too now -tofu-wise, LOL. Teamleader, oh, well. Sometime an update, i´s difficult.
Hugs back!
____
Nicole, nooooo, don´t! Other you have better tofu than what I got!
If you try... good luck and to a happy day and meal :-)
Hi Iris! ☺ I tried to eat tofu many years ago, and can't digest it, but I'd make it with beef and probably add a little red wine! ☺☺
Loved the different signs and your commentary. Your meal looked so delicious and it's not your cooking, I tried tofu many years ago too and it's so yucky ...lol 😉. Roar to Henry and happy wishes! Hugs Jo x
I made Beef Stroganoff a while ago and it was very delicious. While it might be a Russian dish, it certainly wasn't "invented" by Putin and his cronies. I'm not sure how it might be with tofu (you got tofu at dm???). I like some tofus and some I don't. In Taiwan we used to eat that stuff from a street vendor, soaked in spices and then fried in the wok - it was delicious. I'm glad your teamleader is safe (for now). I don't think it's the "German stuff", here people who are boostered get it, too, but it is much milder. A friend of mine just tested positive and he says it feels like a cold. So the vaccine certainly helps. You only have to wait 15-20 minutes for the test result? Lucky you!
I love beef stroganoff. Not sure about the tofu, though! I'm glad team leader made it back. Those trips have to take a tremendous toll.
Rain - that was missing (apart from beef) - red wine!!! Noted, thank you!
____
Jo, roar and to another tofu??? Hugs (maybe better meat...)
____
Carola, I had 20 minutes to kill, yes, I got tofu at dm! I was bored... Taiwan-ian sounds better!
Let´s see what "Corinna" brings, 20 minutes is... well, maybe OK then?
____
Jeanie, take beef! And add wine,...
Yes, this team leader, oh.
He is very tired.
I put tofu in stir fries but with lots of seasonings. Also browned and topped with an orange sauce. It needs to have flavours added to it.
I used to make real beef stroganoff many years ago but now I would definitely try one with tofu or seitan "beef".
I love beef stroganoff. Using tofu for it violates certain fundamentals of existence.
After two plus years of avoiding Covid, I finally tested positive this morning for it on two rapid tests.
I am not happy right now.
RedPat, orange sauce sounds great! Thank you!
____
Linda, stick with the meat, I´d say ;-)
____
William, you are right, beef next time.
Shoot. Ingo was tested positive, too, but the test was not correct. Fingers crossed yours gave wrong results, too!
Is that a blob of cream on top? I tried to make beef stroganoff once and it was a disaster. Never tried again, it tasted so awful. I'll stick with roast beef or barbecued steak.
The first time I had tofu, it tasted terrible. I learned it picks up the taste of spices used. Glad your team leader is home again. He is my hero.
