T STands For NoThing To Do (? Help?)

Since I´m too dumb for sketching hands I thought I buy this cheapy and give it a lille "study".
Hmmmm... argh... no!
And, sorry, this is a long one. As long as the war in Ukraine, maybe.

I should not start with pointing something out, should I.
Ingo liked it, though.
Monkey-business, huh?

I made our stove a bit nicer, pics to come at 4 Kathy´s tomorrow.
THE BRASS, if you care, was the first pub I went to all by myself (I´m an introvert and this was a huge step for me).

Oh, yes  - as this is for Elizabeth´s T stands for Tuesday we need a drink, right!

Yes, on friend´s request we brought our "family" along, all the way to Perth, Western Australia.
Mielebär (yupp, he is from the Miele-family, well he) just looked on, this was my beer:

And yes - I was thirsty!

Here goes:

This is in Northbridge and to the men, haha, easy. To me... I get lost easily, so going there from Madeley on  my own was a "task" I mastered..

The journal, if you care:

Monday: More tutorials + tests on railway.
Ingo needed a receipt, so, since I work from home, tried to order that. It took me 30 minutes plus.
Is it still / again Corinna, or what is the problem at the doc?

We had to suffer a certain colleague, my T and I.
And I do mean suffer.
We called him either "Wiki" cause he had a minipli of knowledge from "everything" and needed to share. Or even as#hole. Because he is one.
T whats-apped me: On the quarterly meeting Wiki sat in first row and... fell asleep while the boss was talking. Then he woke up in a hectical movement and asked a dumb question.
The whole company rolled eyes and giggled.
I sure did miss another embarrassing moment the dude had.
And I witnessed many myself he had.

Tuesday: The tutor suddenly got funny!
Referring to the Gauss curve he called it the "worldview of a Braunschweig Person" as Gauss was a Braunschweiger 🧡.
I finished all the tests one day early, Yippie Yah Yei Schweinebacke!, as Bruce Willis says in German!
Sport, as usual, and Ingo cut my hair - took not even a minute. Pic courtsy to Tom :-)
"Schnipp-Schnapp", as we say in German.

Wednesday: I turned 50 this January and... kaaa...booom.
Got an invitation to "take care of myself" aka... first Mammography.
With a cute sign for encouragement 🧡
I´d heard horrible stories, but went (I also go to the dentist for check-ups - she is always proud of me 😊).
After waiting endlessly (Corinna!) the lady was so nice, took away all the fear, and...
if you are up to that for the first time, too:

It´s nothing!!! Not pleasant, but "OK".
She was so nice it wasn´t even really embarrassing.

Walked to my next doc... well... let´s see. Some sport with DE ... 2000 kcal-mark easily broken.

Thursday: Went to ESE, got my workgear #2, then we went to pick up teamleader Alstom, a Ukrainian who just´d brought goods to Kiev and came back with refugees.
Met the customers (nice guys), got workgear #3.
Did a lot of walking that day due to wrong gear, Ingo later put it together perfectly - Bill calls that "ingonomics" 🧡!

Friday: April Fools - snow!!
Work? Nope. Teamleader Alstom found no time. I drank soooooo much tea looking through what Alstom does, project-unrelated.
It was so de-motivating... just three sessions with DE.
Nice new calendar-page with Die Maus.

Weekend: Down the drain a bit.
I am sick and tired of it all.
Work.. or not work, we are both not happy with that part, over and over and over and over I listen to Ingo mourning about his work
I make suggestions, like... make lists etc, he does not, he prefers to complain into my ears and I am sick of listening.
Another weekend down the drain - as if we had all the time in the world - we have not.

All good again, but work can get you down at times, huh?

Made kale.
Hm.

Hm. Description tomorrow. I used too much broth!

To a new week - to peace, fun work.

Spoiler:

My journal. Pfff... time... STOP?

And yes, I am the only woman again, I am treated rather "fatherly"! This is my life, I reckon... I take it with humor, what else.
"It´s a man´s world"....

Alstom is not Siemens, that I learned so far, big LOL.
"There is a difference between British and American English?! What is it?!"
On my explanation: "I don´t care, do as you like!".
OK, Papa.
There are also words you would not expect, oh, help, LOL.

"Papa" also explained (he is Ukrainian, and younger than me, I guess) Russian is like the German we speak (SHG) whilst Ukrainian is like Bavarian language.
I learn so much, LOL!!!

Ingo, when he was in South Germany, was called an "arrogant asshole" as he speaks "like the guy from the TV-news".
Yes.
That´s how we speak! 🤣
To be honest.. I think we have it the easy way. We speak as we write. People from the South write like we do but they pronounce it differently - must be hard, no?

Too much at times, as I get infos from him from the front-line and that is ugly, scary and try not to cry. Sometimes I wonder why men always tell me the full truth, thruths a woman does not want to hear. What he saw. OMG. I could hear a hate towards Russians, yet... we are all one people, by theory. I reckon those soldiers have lost the sense of reality, humanity.
He told me "they" even... I cannot write this down, so ugly it is.
There I sit, in front of my four monitors and don´t know what to answer.
Not to make a crying sound.

Never in my life would I have thought I get so close to a war.
🌻💙💛
It must come to an end. But reckon Put#n´s pride is too big.
Tiny men (of a certain kind) are just dangerous. Because their ego is so small it turns plain evil - who poses half naked as president?! On a horse, too. Ridiculous.

Sorry. It´s one thing to follow the news. Another to hear it from a person who was and goes there for real. To hear the voice cracking at times. And then not cry.

But, you know. "Corinna" helps me big right now. If those men could see how I raise eyebrows in disbelief...  I feel old! I feel good! I hope this job works out for me.

Henry 🦁

Yes, Papa.  Don´t  run so fast! I try to dance along!
(Like a man, of course!)

HI Iris! I love your monkeys! They remind me of that game.. maybe you know it.. Barrel of Monkeys ? Your sketches are wonderful! You are so good at drawing the human figure! Thankfully i'am retired and no longer work. But i remember days like you describe and it is no fun. Happy happy Tday! Hugs! deb

I like your 'long ones'. Interesting! I went to the bus to get my mammogram a few weeks ago. It's called the breastbus. The worst thing about it, I think, is that you have to wait for the results. Fortnight! But my results were good

Iris Flavia said...

deb, yes, I remember that game, we played it in the attic.
Mimimi. I think there is a lot to get better on human figures, but... thank you - it sure helps!
Today started with my teamleader being on MS Teams saying, "no stress!" - I can live with that :-)

____

Bertiebo, yes, the waiting is the worst. Wednesday it should be the day, but I feel fine (lost both my parents to cancer, so the pressure sure is up...)
Yay for your results, and so glad we have this help, right.

I love your journal pages :)
And the monkeys too.
I guess the work is very different from Siemens?
Too bad Ingo has no work right now, your ears must be burning with all the listening. I hope he gets back to work soon.
I read stories about that war in our newspaper, with people having hands tied behind their backs and being shot in the back of the head, the Putin claiming it is something "staged" by Ukraine to 'blame Russians'. I heard on our TV news too about men killed then awful things done to the women before they were killed too, by drunken Russian soldiers.

I enjoy your journal pages. I am glad I am no longer working. It is great to be retired but I do enjoy working, most of the time. Some days were lousy. The worst about war is the ugly side of human surfaced and they do evil things to their victims or prisoners.

Iris Flavia said...

River, Ingo has work - way too much as everybody comes to him for help! That´s why I keep saying: Make lists. People put their requests in there and when YOU are done with YOUR work, then, only then take care of theirs!

I just got an update from my Ukrainian teamleader. Some Russians rape dead women even, that´s how sick it is.
Why does he tell me this, I have no idea. He is deeply involved, plans another trip coming weekend. It´s too much.
Darn war(s).

____

Nancy, yes, and I get it all told first hand. It´s... terrible, hurting, I fail to understand....

War brings out some evil inside of agressors, it is very sad as those people will carry that evil with them forever and never be able to forget it. That is why they have to try and keep their humanity. They don't teach them this because it is counter to their desire to win. Urgh - age old stuff and our world never learns.

Love your journaling - always a treat.

Take care, Iris. Happy T-day and many hugz.

Wish we could drink a beer together!

Another week. Where does time go? Mielebär is very cute. Your hand study turned out well. I enjoy your drawings. Ingonomics, that's funny. Over time, you will become one of the guys. Enjoy the down time, work probably comes in waves. Either you're real busy or too much time on your hands. I don't think any of us ever expected we would be embroiled in another war. Men! The world might be a lot better if it was a woman's world.

I've never been to a pub by myself. I'm also an introvert. It's tough sometimes to do thinks like a pub or restaurant by yourself. I'm not sure I've even been to a restaurant by myself. If I'm alone I get fast food and eat in my car. Feels better that way. And nice hands. I'm not good at hands, or faces. I think your journal is always fun to look at. Practice makes it better, doesn't it? I've noticed that with mine, except my hand writing. That never gets better. Smile. I hope you are having a nice T day. Enjoy. Hugs-Erika

Great job on the hand drawing iris!! Love all the fun colorful sketches you've added to your pages again. You always find time to be creative in your busy week.
Ingonomics- love it:):) Have a great week, and a happy T day!

I love seeing your week through your journal pages, you did great with the hand drawing.
work can be very stressful-I was so ready for retirement when it came back in 2003
I have never been in a pub, so that must have been fun and I can't drink beer unless I find a gluten free beer but beer for me is too much liquid to get down haha Happy T and new week-good luck with your new job too

Hands are sooo hard. You did a great job. I'm not sure we even have anything here that would count as a pub :( Happy T Tuesday

Hi Iris. Let's start with the food and beer, Yum on both. I think you did a great job on the hand. I also love seeing your journal pages. Take a deep breath and relax. Have a lovely day today.

Nancy, I sadly agreeand yes, they will have to live with the guilt.
Cheers to you, I really do have a Märzen here at the table (local beer)!

___

CJ, yes, crazy, can someone stop the time?!
Yes, I fear there will be a hugr block of work - but that´s better than sitting around, bored...
Yes, though... whe I worked with women, boy, they can get nasty, too, just on another level!

____

Erika, it was on, being by myself in a pub. A man was standing next to me and the barkeeper sure thought we belong together - hey! Women can do thi son their own!
Restaurant I find more difficult, too (no logic involved).
That hand took me forever and I am not content with the outcome. But I won´t give up :-)
Hehe, I´m with ya. I noted something, next I was just wondering what it was supposed to mean!
To a happy T - hugs!

____

Linda, really? Thank you, I think the index finger is a cripple... Yes, I thing that sketching, doodling became soothing over time even!
Bill always has that creativity with words! Happy T-day!

____

Kathy, I think I need new glasses, LOL!
You´ve never been to a pub?! Bummer. It must be real bad when you cannot have certain food/drink, I see it with Ingo, too.
Thank you, oh I really hope I keep this job!

____

Divers and Sundry, thank you, oh, so it´s not just me with the hands. No pub?!!!
Ingo would be so not happy in your place ;-)

____

Nicole, thank you :-)
I must learn to be softer to myself, I reckon. Have a wonderful day over there, too!

The first thing I read was "I'm dumb." lease don't start that way unless you want us to agree with you. I think that hand drawing is wonderful, so stop putting yourself down, PLEASE.

I have never gone to a pub by myself, so you are a lot braver than I,.

Love your calendar pages. My favorites are the Gaussian curve and the four monitors. Sorry everything's on hold but love the glasses of tea. Thanks for the calendar pages and sorry about the man going back to Ukraine. Thanks for sharing with us for T this Tuesday,

I like that hand, it would be great for some photo opps. The journal is looking good, glad you're keeping up with it. Have a great day, Iris.

Carola Bartz said...

I have to second Elizabeth, please stop putting yourself down!
I totally love the word "ingonomics"!
Pubs - when I travelled in England on my won many times I didn't have a choice but go to a pub alone (I love pib food). It wasn't easy at first, but I did. I'm still not good at it, but sometimes I go to restaurants on my own, just to challenge myself. I haven't done that for a long time thanks to corona.
Ukraine... it just breaks my heart. The reports from Bucha were devastating. It's just too much - we can turn away when we can't take it anymore, they can't. It's so horrific I don't have words for it. I don't understand why humans do this to humans.

RedPat said...

I'm trying not to watch the news very much more than once a day as it is so upsetting. The horrors are so overwhelming.
Love your sketches of the hand and in your journal.

Iris Flavia said...

Elizabeth. Yes. I´ll try to do better. But wee... as if I had two left hands!

Go. Do walk into a pub. It makde me feel good. Big. "Brave".

Gauss is always the man, isn´t he? I sure am proud to share the city with him, if in another time!

____

Bill, thank you, I will give my best :-)

____

Carola, if my Mum was still around I´d "thank her" for raising me like this.
"You are nothing unless you earned it." - a mantra.

Hehe, Bill is creative, right, I love ingonomics as well!

Yes, braving up to go by oneself is something. What helped was seeing others sitting by themselves.
You never know the reason and I plan to maaaaybe brave up and ask if I may join. And ask. For the how and why, if they want to tell.

Ukraine... I cannot understand how. I just cannot. I get it all first hand now, try not to cry.
My teamleader always says my name, too, when telling me about it - there is no escaping. (He is Ukrainian).

____

RedPat, same here, one wants to run away seeing the news or hearing first hand of the madness. I feel so helpless.
My new teamleader seems to be on his own, if I understood correct and tries to help the best he can (he has family "over there").

I never ever thought this could happen, naive-me...

First, I love your journal pages and your hand. It looks fabulous! Such a great model to practice from. I need one of those.
You asked about selling my art, yes, I plan to sell sometime this year. I am still working on figuring out the computer side of how to format it so it can be downloaded to print. Could take a while with my tech skills but the end of the year is still my plan.
You are so close to what is going on in Ukraine. I know you must see and hear so much more that those of us in the USA. I wish I could do more to help.
Have a great week, Iris!
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

I make a conscious decision not to watch television news. The newspapers offer needed distance.

Jo, cheers, oh, a real Pale Ale that was, yum!!! Maybe one day, huh? Hugs!x

____

Kate, it was €3 :-) One finger sure proves the low price, LOL.
Yippee - I´m looking forward to purchase your art. Reckon you need to buy me a bigger apartment then, though.
With balcony, btw ;-)
Yes, Ukraine is very close, always was, thanks to the Klitschko Brothers alone, who lived in Hamburg for a long time and are (certainly) loved by "us Germany".
Hope the ugliness ges away, soon, to a good week!

William, well, I have no real choice... It makes me mad.

What a full, meaty post. I love your journal pages and check ins. And yes, the world is very hard now. I watch the news all day, pretty much. I feel it's important we do so -- unless it gets to the point of badly affecting mental health. But we should all be upset, angry and be able to speak about it intelligently to others who may care less and should care more.
