This, the Brass Monkey, was the very first place I went by myself for a beer, or dish, for that matter.
In Braunschweig I always felt so sorry for those who went to lunch "alone", "by themselves" in a restaurant we went at as a group.
I always felt the need to ask them to join us, but... respect, huh. I never did, I never dared.
In Northbridge/Perth Ingo was sick. I went by myself and no one thought it´s crazy I´m on my own. But me...
Could you imagine another place for a start for me than a monkey?
And there is more to be happy about!
Did you grow up with these icky chewing-gum-automats as well?
You still find them and some still contain sweets for kids even.
But this is a great project (that will close down for winter of course, but open come warmer temps again) for...
Great idea, don´t you think? 50cents and you get seeds to plant in your garden/balcony to provide food for bees.
Better than sweets for kids, I´d say, what do you think?

Another fun sign: Bloggy-friend Erika had penguins in her Winter-wonderland and hence I do NOT forget two wedding-days!
Happy Anniversary, Sami! She could not join our wedding back in 2013 as her Hubby worked and lived in Adelaide.
Instead she took us to Penguin Island as wedding-pressie before she left!
See post here, if you like.
Shoot. I did forget, though, to put something nice into Ingo´s lunch-box for today...
This is for Tom´s Signs2.

Happy Wedding Anniversary! I hope you get to spend many more happy years together :) xx
Happy Anniversary! I've never seen Penguin Island. I did go to Rottnest and see the quokkas. AND it was 2013 when I was there, but I don't remember what month, I think maybe it was May.
Margaret, thank you! xx

River, thank you, oh, sad we missed each other! Yes, Rotto is great, too! I have one quokka right beside the condo-door :-)
Happy anniversary to both you and Sami.
We have these feeders at our zoo. They are for duck and fish food. Not in the same place, of course.
Laughed at the monkey, too.
Thank you :-)
Yes, at the zoo we have them, too, out comes ready to eat-food, here you have to plant seeds for flowers at home.
...Iris, I hope that Ingo and you enjoy many more years of laughing. Congrats.
The food for bees is a great initiative!
Tom, thank you! :-)

magiceye, yes, better than sweets for kids.
Happy Anniversary Iris. Do you think you'll get back to Australia soon? (Soon meaning in the next few years). I've never seen automatic gum machines, but we do/did have big vending machines with candy, gum, etc. You don't see vending machines that much out in public any more. Not like in Japan. They were everywhere. That penguin was cute. I'm off to check out penguin island. Have a great anniversary. hugs-Erika
Erika, thank you :-)
Oh, we have these machines for a lot of things still!
Starting with bicycle tubes, condoms, se# toys... In Perth in a pub I was one on the female loo selling tampons and Ingo found deo on his (along with condoms).
And certainly cigarettes...stamps?
To penguins, hugs
Happy anniversary to you too Iris. We just came back from dinner at an Italian restaurant in Victoria Park :) I do remember taking you to Penguin Island, it's such a cute place.
Love that vending machine for flower seeds to help bees, what a wonderful project. I do remember those machines that dispensed gum balls.
The Brass Monkey is still there :)
Happy anniversary.
Though I haven't eaten at a restaurant since before Covid and have thus only done takeaway, before that more often than not I would be dining alone.
Happy anniversary! It's great to have a long lasting marriage.
Happy Anniversary!
The seeds idea is wonderful.
Happy Anniversary, Iris. Hope you and Ingo have many many more!
Sami, yes, we had a great time at Penguin Island!
Hmmmm, I at least had Italian Mortadella... on bread ;-)
Hope to see you (and The Brass) sometime soon!
____
William, as long as "by oneself" it´s OK, no? I was by myself but not lonely...
___
gigi, thank you, we´ve been together since 1994!
_____
Divers and Sundry ... thanks and yes! :-)

Bill, thank you, I hope this goes for all of us.
Congrats to you and Ingo. I hope you have a nice meal to celebrate.
Love the monkey.
Thank you - I had Italian Mortadella on fresh bread and Ingo goulash-noodles.
A work day... no worries, though!
Love the penguin -- and I've never seen a chewing gum thing like that!
