With this Granpa on a bench I join Rain´s Dinner and Art Date with the meme "bench".
An old man sitting by himself, lonely, on a bench.
I saw a docu where retired persons come together and bake their souls out - with joy and fun and together - most women, but also three men - here is the (German) link.
They say:
"Baked with love by grandma
Everything comes together in our Munich bakery: our grandmas and grandpas with their passion for baking, their recipes collected over decades and our carefully selected ingredients."

Guess what I will do in a couple of years!
Though I might start something else as I am not into sweets.
My last bake was Courgette-muffins (see here) and ...
Here is what you need, other just... follow the pics, it is SO EASY to do...
150 g – Quark/curd 20%
150g – creme fraiche
100 g – ham or bacon
100 g grated cheese
3 eggs (size M)
salt and pepper
It started with these funny guys...
Original recipe in German here.
Bake to your liking, I used 180C/3600F, ca 20 minutes.
Speaking of Grandpas....
Isn´t he just adorable. And note the breakfeast board, it says "Princess-brekkie" 🥰
This is my friend´s cat. My friend was preparing brekkie for their kids and Max LOVES butter and cheese and just waits for his chance here!

What could I use instead of Quark? I have never liked it and don't think it is available here. Cottage cheese? Which I also don't like but others might want to know what to substitute.
Pffff.... dunno. You don´t have quark? I wiki-ed it, it´s called like that in English, how weird. Just creme fraiche will do, or cottage cheese, as you said!
You don´t have quark??? Crazy. In my mind I´m running through the cheese-section at "our" Woolies but... nada, nothing!
I added Max, btw... on the blog, not the cake...
That's such a wonderful idea, those elderly people baking together!!
So YES!!!
Cute grandpa on bench love that baking gettogether idea. Yummy savoury recipe! -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
Thank you and yes to all of this.
You are becoming a chef, Iris.
RedPat, the internet helps heaps!!!
Fun idea to get together and bake. Where I live we have Senior Centers in each town, a gathering place for people over 55 (mostly retired). They offer classes in art, exercise, dance, singing, dancing. Lots of activities if you're interested. My neighbor Prissy (like your neighbor W) used to love to go on Fridays for lunch and then Bingo. Your little old man on the bench is cute
As the elderly get together and cook, they probably have many stories to share. Sounds like fun.
CJ, what?! I think I will retire at age 67 earliest, other I play and win lotto!
Dancing helps the brain, That´s another plan...

Bill, yes, bet it is great! Younger people would likely love to join!
Cute grandpa, but sad that he is lonely. I love the idea of people getting together to bake.
We don't have quark in the US either, no idea what that is! But your onion pie, oh yum.
Well, Grandpa has his human family :-)
And yes, great idea to work for fun!
