In February in Perth we.... got lost a bit!
We wanted to go to the Perth Children´s Hospital to get the Firefighter calendar.
This Businessman was also a gentleman. Despite being in a great hurry he stopped, asked if we need help and showed us the way - he went fast in the great heat, say 43C/109F and there was no time to ask him to pose (also I am shy).
Isn´t this so cute and nice, so sweet?
See why I love Perth and it´s people.
A whole new station had been built, a huge one!
Thanks to him we found the correct free CAT (bus) and the calendar happily sits on the wall behind me now.
Back in 1995 in Sydney I went by myself through city (we tried to sell our car and one always had to be present). I got help to find the correct train and later I put my city-map away. Just ask, find friendly people everywhere!
One man said, "you could take the direct route, but better take this detour and you´ll find nice houses".
Or take this year, where "a friendly lady" aka River picked us up at the Adelaide Airport and guided us via nice detours to the correct train station! Well, this does not really count, as we are bloggy-friends, as Sami, Grace, Mark and..... from Perth who take us around, too. Anyhows:
No more maps - PEOPLE!!!! (also in Braunschweig and sometimes even me. If lost me can´t help I say so. Saw a docu on Japan. In that one the Japanese people didn´t admit when they had no clue and sent people "somewhere"!).
To a friendly Sunday, Sun is out!

I remember when we arrived Perth for the first time. In words of John Glenn "I see the City.., The City of Lights! (no more words)
Yes, we fell straight away in love in 1995....
...Perth certainly is a special place for you!
Second home we are not allowed to live permanently...
There are good and kind people still in this world-we all need to work towards more kindness
we ended up with a rain free week and holiday-three nights of fireworks til midnight three nights so far-
Have a good new week hugs from the lake
Hurrah for sun, but it is hot at my house today so some wind or shade would be nice. And I think your photo is better not posed. I hate asking people for photos too. Like you, I am shy also. I hope you are enjoying your day. hugs-Erika
The 1st photo is fabulous!
People in general are willing to help out if someone looks lost.
So nice when people help each other out.
Most people will be glad to help when you are lost.
Yes, people are much better than maps in a strange place! We met the nicest man in Ireland once, and looked him up next time I was there.
Perth is a very friendly city and I would move there if I didn't have all my family here, only my brother and sister in law live in Freo. All others in or around Adelaide. Except my sister in Port Pirie.
Maps are still useful as people who show you which way to go can point out roads and which way to go on the map, maybe even mark it with a pencil.
I know I'll never get to Australia so I love it when you share your adventures, old and more recent!
Kathy, that sounds stressy with the fireworks! Big hugs and to quiet days and nights!

Erika, the man is not to be identified from behind, so I think it´s no worries.
Also Perth is a huge city, you could never track him down ;-)
Ack for our shyness, hugs...
____
magiceye, it was taken "on the run", literally ;-)
____
CJ, yes, that´s why I had to share!
____
Sue, what a great story! Are you still in contact?
____
River, yes, family is more important and Adelaide ain´t that bad!
These days people have maps on their phones, a pain...!
But, yes, in Perth we got still paper-maps and people marked!

Jeanie, if you manage Britain you manage Australia as well, I guess - otherwise I´ll happily keep on sharing - much more to come!
