Come, Sleep By My Side

Monday on my way to the bakery I saw this:

Since all public places to leave pre-loved things for others are closed thanks to Corinna and people have time on their hands those boxes pop up everywhere, I did this a couple of times also and most stuff was taken 😁.

This time it was my time to take for a change!

The sleeping kitty is for me :-)

Reminds me of a pressie I got from M - he knew I´m a bad sleeper and love frogs, hence he got me this, so cute!

Coolest thing is this, that I keep for myself (or rather Ingo):

Same in your place?

And some toddler will love this!

Also for Niece:

She hates English and I try my best to convince her otherwise...

I try to see the good things in Corinna.

Same in your place, those give-aways?

Henry 🦁... He´s one himself today!

He asks your butt to ride into freedom (sorry, cannot help it but here goes:

Do you like Star Wars? I´m with Freddie on this one! But I believe in Peter Pan!!

No, I did not see those boxes. It's a wonderful idea.

Oh, so that´s rather a German thing? Sad... Maybe it´s a Braunschweig thing, my T doesn´t have this in his place, either and that´s but 40 km away...

We did see this in the US, but here, stuff would be waterlogged in no time with all the rain! There are charity shops all over, so that's where people get rid of their stuff, I guess.

You got some good freebies :-)

In the Netherlands I have not seen any boxes on the street! Will be considered trash!
The kittens and the frog are very funny!
I also believe in Peter Pan, but I am so in love with "Queen"! 🧡🥰
Wishing you nice spring days!

Shari, yes, some people are dumb and put/leave boxes in the rain here, too.

____

Ella, some put out trash, but mostly it´s books, toys, I also saw sealed diapers, tampons, plates, glasses, useful stuff.
Who is not in love with Queen? 🧡🧡
15C here, wishing you a nice day, too!

...the free giveaway is great thing!

Iris, on the market we are not obliged to wear a mask ... it is outside! Right?

Such a cool thing to do. No, we dont have that system here.

Iris Flavia said...

Tom, yes :-) That was also pre-Corinna like that, just now it´s loads!

____

Ella, we have to wear masks even in the inner city! And also on the market. It´s nuts! Buy an icecream, run out of the inner city to eat it, or whats left of it. Frittes... cold by then.

____

magiceye, it´s inofficial, of course, but tolerated by the city.

We have that happen here, too. I have brought home more than a few things that way! When the weather is better, people have sales in their yards or driveway but if you only have a few things and you don't really care about the little money you'd get for them, you'll see things on the curb. One time Rick was cleaning out one of the duplex he rents because the tenant left a bunch of things and never came back for them. They went on the street and within an hour they were gone -- one woman called for a truck to come!

There are few things in life as beautiful as a sleeping cat.

Iris Flavia said...

Jeanie, wow, a truck?! That´s... wow!
Yes, the other day near the bakery was a girl who had books, CDs and toys on a blanket and went for sale. Clever, as many Moms with their kids come by (sadly I have no idea what my Nieces have already, so I skipped).

____

William, these are the only cats I have.

I have not seen such boxes here in Hawaii. Looks like you got some nice things to give to your nieces.

Iris Flavia said...

Yes, it´s nice!

That's a nice thing to do, let other people have a free gift if they choose.

Cute photo of the kitties. It is harder to donate to thrift stores here. People have been cleaning out their houses and at the same time the thrift stores are closed. Creates quite a problem!

Great photos.

Iris Flavia said...

Bill, yes, that is "neighborhood", right.

____

Spare Parts and Pics, stores closed "helps", too, but here it´s a rule, maybe just in Braunschweig.

____

Anne, thanks :-)

Yes, people do that here in Toronto too. You can sometimes pick up some nice stuff. I once got a great desk that someone put out with a sign saying "Free". I still have it.

:-) Love to learn this!

You found lots of good treasures. I love finding treasures when our recycle center at the dump used to be open so I can appreciate yours.

Not so many boxes left out here anymore, life is pretty much back to normal. I love the sleeping kitty and now have an idea: sleeping bag for Meg!

Iris Flavia said...

Erika, the recycle center? Crazy, but if they do it nicely, that´s good!

____

River, glad to give ideas for Meg :-)
Back to normal is good!!!

That is a nice idea. If someone did that in my town the homeless would be fighting over it all.

Iris Flavia said...

At a church we have a place where you can leave clothes for the homeless and needy.

Well it's good to have a clear out once in a while, I'm sure someone out there can use the stuff

What a lovely idea Iris, no I haven't seen such a thing here but I believe there is a neighbourhood thing that is similar, I've heard Sami talking about it ✨
