Boooring... but intelligent. Power and culture.
Chess.
In Italy Ingo and I "played", was my first time as an adult really playing chess and I wasn´t that bad (I certainly lost).
These two?
Do you recognize them?
Maybe the cutest Brothers ever (I saw the docu).
(Dr.) Wladimir (wiki says: "strategic and intelligent boxer", now he promotes healthy foods), after his older Brother Vitali (now a politician) lost a fight in heavy-weight-boxing and was teased - Wladimir won the next fight he blurted out in the ring (Title: "The revenge of the Brother"):
Number 1 - we are no weak guys ("Weicheier" - they (also) speak German, the fight was in Germany),
Number 2 - I´m world champion,
Number 3 - I LOVE MY BROTHER (ICH LIEBE MEINE BRUDER)! (and yes, he yelled "meine", so sweet)
Thank you.
And have you seen what he´s holding in his hand?
A bouquet of flowers! A heavy weight boxing champion with flowers, I think this is plain cute.
They reveal the "secret weapon" is ... you don´t fight one, you fight them both - the other Brother is always there, if mentally. Same here (not that we´re into boxing!).
Wladimir, after a fight of Vitali called the Mum, to let her know all went well.
He called again, "did you forget something?", she asked, "yes, forgot to you tell you I love you". 🧡🧡🧡
Yes, boxing guys are dumb and have no heart.
His older Brother, Vitali, won by points but got hurt badly - nothing visible (no eye hanging out etc) and lost in the end and was laughed at for this...
Another time he lost again and this time you could see a lot of blood. The other boxer won the game, but Vitali won over the fans cause he wouldn´t let go.
Boxing, like football, is like chess, just in FAST, another thing you add, be FAST!
Make your decision NOW" and make a good one, be wise, calculate, RE-calculate, it´s about strategy.
Intelligence. The maybe 10-y-o son of heavy weight boxer and champion Chris Byrd saw Wladimir punching his Dad down in another fight and winning the belt.
Right in the ring the boy went over to congratulate Wladimir and asked him to take good care of the belt.
How sweet is that. How mature. How fair.
My Brother does not even try, for either, boxing or American Football (which is also like fast chess), he thinks it´s dumb.
I remember once I took my Mum to a game in Braunschweig "against"/with Hamburg - she never saw the ball but she truly looooved the atmosphere and chatted with the Hamburg-fans :-)
I love my Brother, too (and I call him the same as they do, my Brother started this, "Brüderchen" and "Schwesterchen"), but he can be hard as a rock insisting on his opinions and not even trying.
His loss.
I would never go to a boxing-thingy, noooo, they really do hurt each other!
And a real game of chess I might just doze off 😉
The "Popo-guy"?
Wladimir visited his old home in Ukraine in the docu and told how his older Brother found a bomb from WW II, brought it home and hid it under the Fathers bed - the family back then had one room to sleep in: Father, Mother, Granma, Uncle and the two boys.
And then a bomb!!!!
The father gave Vitali an "Arschreise" ("butt-journey"), or, as the more sophisticated Wladimir said, "he paid with his Popo". He got hit on his butt.
You can see more of the Brothers here.
We have a Perth friend who found a bomb in his Grandpa´s shed and brought it to school for "show and tell". School was evacuated, squad team cleared it. Another one who paid with his Popo?
"Popo" in Germany has no other meaning than butt. And believe me I traveled a couple of times with help of Dad or Granma... I cry, I get a reason to cry! Mum choose the face, that wasn´t better (she kept her rings on, yes, back then this was normal! We got what we "asked" for) and no, I was not such a bad kid, even - and I´m still alive, a wonder, huh (they also smoked in the car with us in the back).
The Father died of cancer thanks to the Chernobyl disaster...
See the two in a cute ad here:
My Brüderchen and I have the same age-gap. I´ll never stop looking after him, yet he calls me.
Those two were in the USA early 80´s, no money and Vitali saw what they have, cheese, sooo many sorts of cheese - he could not understand he said "there is ONE cheese! Why need more?! One pair of shoes, OK, two, one for sport, too".
We´re nearly back to that now, how often do I have to tell Ingo: Nope it was out, your cheese...
Sad.
Henry 🦁?
He might gently lick your face 😁 🧡
Addendum to last post, Ingo went to work straight ahead and the Duke is back!

My husband has also had cancer by the Chernobyl disaster! That is a very bad memory, a disaster and a nightmare. We really play with the devil!
I want a lion kiss! Oh, Henry!🦁🧡
I wish you a very nice weekend!
Ich hab dich liiiieb mein 🐘
xoxo
Oh, that is horrible, but luckily you wrote "had", so I read in this your husband has overcome it.Henry sends kisses 🧡💛💚🦁
A nice weekend to you, too, ich hab dich liiiieb mein 🦋!!!
xoxo
Imagining a sloppy lion kiss!❤
I'll admit, I never could get into boxing or chess.
magiceye, guess it´s warm and very wet ;_)

William, me, neither, also.
...I find chest to be difficult, my brain doesn't well when it comes to all of the moves! You were a cute white pawn!
Tom, I was a bored white pawn, LOL, I even remember how boring it was!
I don't know of these 2 brothers. But now I want to find out more! But even more so I love you in that hat! Smile. Do you still own it? Hugs-Erika
Erika, LOL, I was maybe 7 - that hat belonged to the kindy or city even, I don´t have it (but likely it´d still fit!).
Those Brothers are cute. If boxing can be cute. Nah. But their bond is, and their characters, they do loads of sponsering kids etc, too. Hugs
I hate to watch boxing, it's so violent with all that blood and swollen faces. I tried to play chess but always got checkmated. Haha.
This docu is not about boxing but about the love between two brothers :-)
I love that you and your brother are still very close. That doesn't happen in all families and I'm glad it does in yours.
You were the cutest little chess piece I've ever seen. What a great costume! When "The Queen's Gambit" is available to stream there, you might enjoy it!
Yes I am so thankful I have my Brother!
I was the bored one ;-)
Will look out for the Queen!
I went to a few boxing matches in the 80s when Ali was fighting, it was insane. As for chess, I liked checkers better. My aunt gave me a chess set and it came with the checkers too. About 7 years ago I gave it away to someone who wanted to teach their kids chess. Hopefully the game gave them lots of enjoyment. A good evening to you, Iris!
Neither is mine, Bill, but I enjoy seeing how these Brothers stick together.
Haven´t seen mine for too long, thanks to Corinna, but at least there is phone/WhatApp, pics...
A nice evening to you.
I don't like boxing or any other sport where people get PAID to beat each other until one can no longer stand or see or is bleeding to near death. Mostly I just don't like sports. I'd rather read a book. I did enjoy seeing the Harlem Globetrotters years ago when they came to Adelaide, my son was playing basketball then and I took him two years in a row to see the Globetrotters.
Well, this was about the bond between the brothers, I don´t watch boxing, either.
But the guys are so cute with each other!
I used to enjoy chess, but haven't played for so long, I would lose quickly. You have to think at least six moves ahead and I don't think that way anymore. Too bad about Chernobyl. It was truly a disaster waiting to happen.
We are big boxing fans here, not chess though. Nothing like a good lion kiss. Hee hee hee. Have a great day.
Elizabeth, that´s why I lost! Six moves ahead?!
Yes, and the more safer ones in Germany get shutted down so we get it from unsafer France... We play with the devil.
____
Nicole, wow, really, I always look away when the fav gets hit ;-)
But today I get three books about them, can´t wait!
Bet Henry is a great kisser, have a great day.
Dearest Iris this is such an awesome post! I have to be honest I don;t have a really good relationship with my older brothers but I always try my best haha Sending you big hugs, that skeleton scared me so much I have to say!!!
Oh, dearest Stevenson, sad you don´t share a great relationship with your Brothers.
We didn´t as much as kids, either but now... he´s my best friend.
Oh, Henry (the skeleton) just looks after us at night :-) He´s sending you hugs along with me!
