Every summer holidays as a kid I was sent to Tornesch, near Hamburg, to relatives.
Uncle Siggi said he works for a candy company (reckon that was not true) and always brought home those round chewing gum balls.
They exploded in your mouth. Fun.
Some were green and tasted of apples.
Often we were left by ourselves, my 4 year older cousin and I.
One day (she was not the candle on the cake, as my Brother uses to say when people are a bit simple)... she wanted to make those baked apples with vanilla sauce.
So. She put them on a tray and off they went into the oven when sunddenly, after a while... KAAAAA-BOOOOM!
They exploded (of course) and were not at all good to eat.
Luckily she at least didn´t put the vanilla sauce directly over them so... we had something to nibble on and her mother certainly flipped seeing what she did to the oven!
Poison!!!
I cannot remember who cleaned the oven.
This is for Elle´s theme for today

Oh no! She forgot or did not know the apples have to be cut around the middle a little bit and have the core removed before baking. at least you still had something to nibble on and no real damage was done.
She was not that smart... and I was too young.
But! we have to old apples, maybe we try the real way :-)
So cute! And I love the story, too! You are doing such a great job with Elle's challenge and her prompts! And I want to thank you for stopping by my bog too! Your visit was very much appreciated! Hugs, Sharon

William, yes, not to be repeated!
eek. not good, a learning experience I hope, mind you in my early teens i made a macaroni cheese that was so bad the dog wouldn't eat it.
Ingo still teases me cause I cooked sauerkraut as advised on the can - it was crunchy...
I ate it, I am stubborn.
Oh wow! What an interesting memory. (Hopefully, funny now.) Your art work is “Da Bomb!” (Pun intended.)
Love your apples Iris, nicely done. I also love the expression "not the candle on the cake" that's a new one to me, but we use sometimes "not the sharpest knife in the drawer" to mean the same thing lol. Love your exploding apple story. Thanks for joining me for the October theme at Art Journal Journey this month Elle/Empire of the Cat xx
