To Bloggy Friends

I just watched a short docu yesterday night on a binge-eater.
Bad childhood, food was what saved him, he grew fat, stayed inside, ordered food - seven years he left the house only at night to get fast food he could not order.

Then he said: Enough! Started a blog, and got help.

Now he still weighs 137 kg (302 lb), he is eager to become a "UHU" - under hundred.
He made friends in real life - the blogger world helped him out!

2008 - Ingo got severely sick - bloggers helped me, and hence us, through.

I lost my job, got wrong medicine, I did not even need, did do nothing at all anymore.

From "very" sportive (I marched with soldiers, and I am small)  I went to... like an Ühu - "über" - over hundred, in years, not kilograms. My muscles were no more, I was weak and lethargic.

Then I found your art-group, you kept telling me I get better in this sector - I left art  after I got my diploma in architecture/engineering 1999.
You encouraged me, also to cook and bake.

And here I am, just like that guy.

Some of you I met in person, and we had loads of fun, with some I exchange cards and gifts from time to time -  we are some kind of  friends, don´t you think?
My Brother states this is not real - what do you think?

After all, as Germans, we got married in Perth, Western Australia, due to the help of bloggy-friends!

We made it happily to October 2022!

Especially now where we meet colleagues mostly via teams-meetings...
My Brother does not get it, no. I do not feel lonely!
We share work- and private stuff, we curse and laugh.

And what fun if at age 50 someone thinks you are but 20, LOL (we share monitors, aka files, not cams, work-based).
Weird, as at Siemens I could capture meetings and nearly fell off the chair hearing my (ugly) voice. And to this colleague I sound young.

Yes, would love to meet him in real life. Maybe there will be a real Christmas party?

So far we all - private as bloggers, work-based as colleagues - are there for each other online - and to me that´s OK!

I also braved up BIG in real life!
I just talk to strangers, asking for or offering help.
Not a prob anymore!
I am a very, very shy introvert,... or... was!

Now I even can react to people hugging me - no more panicking.

So, to all you bloggers:

THANK YOU!!!!

I hope you have an idea how much you help some!
It´s not all about "just fun", you save people.
Just sayin´... thank you!

A good start to a new month, what do you think? And see what I found at Angela´s!!! (the hint, I found the video on YouTube, maybe there are better ones):

I only wish you would use the metric system, alas! 😂
I think, if I find time, I´ll do it π * eye!
What a great, wonderful idea to make individual cards!

Aha, Bertiebo, it hit you, too. Do you have a "sign in with google-account" or such? That will bring you back.
Blogger... hiccups...

And dito!!! I love following your adventures as well, and your note sure still sits at my left monitor!

Hey Iris, Happy October! I saw and replied to you comment on AJJ about the rules, they are at the top of the page, but basically make a journal page using the theme. I'm hosting this month, it's all about fairytales and stories. As for internet friends, some of my best friends are internet friends, some I have met in real life, and we have been friends for 15+ years. They are also plenty of crazy people online but not my friends lol. Elle/Empire of the Cat xx

What a beautiful post! I love reading how supportive you've found the blogging community, and I agree wholeheartedly. It's been a wonderful way for me to have contact with people when I don't have much in-person contact at all, and it makes me feel happy knowing others out there appreciate bloggers for the friendly and helpful community it can be.

{hug}

I have many friends/colleagues that I have met through the Internet. Some I have been very fortunate to meet in person at conferences and retreats. Some I have known for almost 30 years. Definitely real friendships

Hi Iris, loving your Pop Up Z fold card. I do have instuctions in inches and metric if you want it. I made them for a class I did. I'm away from home at the moment but if you want it I could copy it and put it on my blog when I get back. Happy crafting, Angela xXx

Divers and Sundry, honestly... if it wasn´t for this support...
{hugs back!!!}

____

Tom, I agree. A bit! When I see someone has 500+ FB-friends, hmmm...

____

CJ, yes! Social media is awesome. My ex-teamleader T met id now-girlfriend online, too. They live together, all is great!

____

Angela, metric would be great, or as said just by "1/3rd" etc.
No, wait metric would make it perfect and easier - so, please, yes!
But please don´t get mad if it takes a while.
I work "too much" and started training again and it´s getting dark so early, ack, I hate this dark half of the year!
But yes, please xXx

Well said, Iris. Friends all come in different forms, real or virtual, a friend is a friend. New month, enjoy and have a blast. :)

RedPat, yes, we are real!

____

Bill, nothing to add - but to friendship and a new month!

Blogging reminds me we do all drink from that same puddle (love the pic). Thankyou, Iris, for being a blogging friend :) xx

Your brother is wrong, these friendships are real and cherished by all of us who are shy introverts, although many bloggers aren't. This is a lovely post, I'm happy to read about all you have learned and accomplished, some with our help, some on your own.

Iris Flavia said...

Margaret - dito!!!! xx

____

River, very well said - I really have no idea how I´d ended up otherwise, and we can start right in 2008.

I could not even tell my family - or his, cause one real hug and I´d broken down. But virtual hugs make me strong. Crazy, isn´t it...

I agree, Iris. I love the blog world for exactly the same reasons. Our bloggies are old and young, some interests the same, others different. But all interesting and we learn about them and care about them. It's really rather a beautiful thing.
