Elle´s theme today is Puss in Boots.
Hm.
Never heard of that!
OK - wiki that, it´s a 1697 Italian-French fairy tale. More here.
Italian-French, huh.
We went to Tuscany (where the sketch above is from, it was a 3-D-mural (the cat I added)) - with most of former GDR, most retired guys, it was one of the best holidays ever!
At first - when Ingo said he´d booked it - I said, are you plain CRAZY?!
The bus driver...
Left: our bus driver - in boots - , my age, right a wee part of our teacher, laughing her head off, Ingo´s age - we had fun!
(She sadly was too close to me for being as whole in the pic)
You know... those guys from East-Germany.. they share their boots!
And we did, too...
Ingo had a cigar, the four of us sat in the mild Italian evening and shared.
This was 2015 and no one thought about what you can "catch".
I also always share drinks with my Brother - we´re all good.
The bus driver... you saw how tall he is... even offered me his swim-trousers (no, thank you, I´m a Wessi, that´s a bit too (large anyways and) private for me 😉
But thank you. He also took care of the rest of my pizza...
This I ate up myself, though, hmmm, culinary heaven!!!! The queue to the little stand was long for a reason! Sad we only stayed one day there...
We have the apron at home here and took it off when family visited (SIL is a bit prude... well, she has kids, right?!)
I know I might´ve ... not approached the fairy-tale theme from the desired direction.
But it just came to my mind (maybe I´m a tad... you-know-what-in-boots).
Tuscany is a bit like being in a fairy-tale, it was beauty- and wonderful, we learned so much, saw so much! We had soooo much fun!
Just a lille vacation to a dream land, if you like:
Nonno was in his 90´s and I kinda bet he still works with his family!
In Germany old people are sent to a nursing home. In Italy they live happliy with their families - a bit like in a real fairy tale!
Henry 🦁
Hope he can sleep well. No respect for that dude!
To fun aprons!!! Families and Italy.
We had a Poretti at Guido´s (oldest Pizza place in Braunschweig) yesterday - warm day, we had to sit inside, all seats outside were taken.
But: see (or hear) the positive: We heard them talking! They´re from Sicily and it sounds sooooo nice.

We grew up with the fairy tale of Puss in Boots, but I loved him most as a character in some of the Shrek movies - especially with those butter-wouldn't-melt-in-my-mouth soulful eyes :)
I really have no idea!!! Boooo to me! I didn´t even saw the Shrek movies!... more booo....OK, next time it´s on TV I´ll give it a go! The wiki-explanation didn´t sound too nice!
Maybe you didn't see the shrek-movies cause traveling the world (Australia, Cuba, Italy...)And remember: The best Pizza in Italy you don't get in a restaurant! (Perhaps is this the reason why the little Pizzarias hasn't any Michelin Star)
I've never heard of Puss in Boots. But I have to laugh a little, the apron is really crazy
That slice of pizza looks soooooo delicious! I remember puss-in-boots, don't like the fairy tale much, but I like the Shrek movies and Puss-in-boots is in one of those, his voice is done by Antonio Banderas.
I don't like the apron.
I would love to visit Tuscany one day, maybe when I am rich.
I have heard the phrase "Puss in Boots" and thanks to you I now know the story. That is one crazy apron. It will definitely shock many here.
Ingo, yes, pizza is best from little stalls! We visited not enough!
____
Bertiebo, the apron is a fun one :-)
____
River, it was the most simplest Pizza of all, a Margarita. Sooooo yummy, we waited for nearly half an hour!
The apron, oh, you have so many statues in Italy showing the best parts, LOL.
I hope we don´t have to wait till we get rich!!
Or... define rich! We have a good life. And at some point traveling will be doable again!
____
Nancy, don´t visit Italy, you´ll see that all the time ;-)
...enjoy all of the warm day that you can.
This apron was/is a new developed X-ray apron! (Can show the hard loaded weapons you try to hide ;)
Your bus driver photo made me laugh soooo hard this morning. That must have been fun. I've been to Florence years ago. We had an exciting adventure there, and in Rome and Naples too. I'd love to go back to Italy. Anyhow, I am loving your drawing today. Even the Puss N Boot that you added. But the apron in boots is a riot. Smile. Happy weekend. Hope yours is going well. Hugs-Erika
And thanks for joining us again at AJJ too. Hope we see you next month too!
Tom, I will!!!
____
Ingo ;-)
____
Erika, he was - is - a fun guy - and a very, VERY good driver!
Yes, Ingo thought also about going back. But only with these two I will!!
Will... you share your adventures from Italy, that would be great, hugs!
Oh. And - pweeeh... I am at times working 10 hours (writing down 8)
Let´s see. your themes are FUN. If I find time I´m all in!
I can see people's faces if the bus drivers over here wore a apron like that. :)
hahaha that apron, he looks like a fun bus driver! And pizza, not had any for ages but want some now, that slice is huge! I like your drawing today and the story behind it. Isn't it funny how we think everyone will have heard of these fairytales but of course they are not all popular everywhere. You did well with today's prompt, they are open to interpretation, so well done! I went with the Shrek movie version for my page today. Thanks for joining me for the October theme at Art Journal Journey this month Elle/Empire of the Cat xx
Bill, on the last day he went through the bus offering beer and wine in that.
You guess... We had fun!
____
REdPat, come over and do some cooking, apron is waiting ;-)
Rich for me means having enough money to travel, but also enough left in the bank to be able to live comfortably after the travelling is done.
I woke up this night and suddenly knew it: Puss in Boots, that is of course The booted cat, a very well-known fairy tale. Strange it was the first thing I thought about in the middle of the night
River, yes, and enough for emergencies!
____
Bertiebo... der gestiefelte Kater, you are right!!!!
How come I didn´t think of it?!
It sounds like those were the days. I always thought it would be fun to go to Tuscany. So much art and history there. And I love your Puss and Boots!
