To say it first: This is for Tom´s signs 2 - but not only!!!
Define the word "sign" - Tom is clever leaving this up to us!
I made myself a pressie. You know, that guy who made cooking and baking fun for me after I was banned from the kitchen my entire childhood/teenage-years due to a tantrum I threw after a fresh ale - in pieces - jumped out of the pan in front of me, dancing?
I was maybe 5 years old and screamed my heart out - kitchen-ban, never learned to cook, also cause I´m afraid of anything hot.
This man taught me to let my fear go and that cooking is FUN!
Actually I don´t "need" this book and he puts so much (everything?) online, too.
But... I owe him, kinda. I simply love to sit down and have a real book in my hands, flipping through to decide what to cook.
Oh, I wish my Mum could read this.... Yes, I cook. Me! And it´s fun, I enjoy it!
Well, so I got an e-mail with the code for Packstation, Jamie had arrived π
BUT! What is this?! TWO mailings? I didn´t order anything else!
OK (push the button) - click, another cell opens.
Now what is this?
Hey, what!!! I know "that happy guy" (my other, secret Brother, as in... he must be, we´re too much alike in our souls)!!
Oh, "Corinna", you ugly girl, you kept these Christmas-wishes away from me till end of January!!!
28C. We have 26 less than that! π₯Ά
The person waiting behind me saw my huge smile, as masks are only mandatory in shops and he kept the proper distance, of course.
The person waiting behind me saw my huge smile, as masks are only mandatory in shops and he kept the proper distance, of course.
But I was not done yet!!! Noooo.
There was more!!! From... Sweden? I was and am clueless. Maybe Great Britain?
What?!
I waited till I was home, of course, so the dude was able to put in his parcel (you can also send via Packstation).
Trinity college?! Australia after all?
Belated Birthday wishes??? Please, who are you, you gave me another very big smile but I find no hint!!! Ingo had a close look, too - nothing!
Well what is it?
Awwww.... one of my fav birds it is!
I remember one time I "lost" a can of veggie-juice.
OK, clumsy Hathi π dropped it, what else...
I started walking around our car, getting down, looking under it to retrieve the can and heard a noise behind.
A magpie! In the Outback, not afraid of me, copying me!!! Small as she was she ducked and looked too, all around the car till I got the - to her very boring - can.
I love magpies (if not in season, then they attack people to make sure their babies are safe).
And now to the honest part... And I think it´s not bad and no disappointment AT ALL!!!
... I know this bitter sweet story. A woman fell on a nice day and ended up in a wheelchair and was in so much pain but Penguin came into her life and saved her.
How I know this?... I have this...
I feel sorry as I know how it is - I bring a pressie and Niece´s Grandma´d just given her the very same 5 minutes earlier, BUT!!!
This cannot have happened this time, right?
My Niece hates "English" at school, as she has a (insert the word for... people) German teacher.
Also Ingo had to go through this.
Mine, I was lucky, was from Great Britain and FUN.
Ingo´s teacher said - no offense - you can go to England and talk, true.
You can go into THE WORLD with this!!!!
(I´ve been in England! Twice! Loved it and bought my first English-books there, post to come).
And so I try and make up for such dumb teachers.
Niece loves horses, I brought her a horse-comic from Perth.
I found an English cook book in the street (people share here) - Ingo had a look and said it´s still too complicated for Niece.
Please, whoever sent me the Birthday-book... leave me a note at flaviakaiser@gmx.de - that is my real address. With blogger being so naughty I do not dare to change it there.
It was a wonderful surprise and my Niece will (maybe later) enjoy this immensly and if you´re lucky leave a note to you, too π₯°.
Also... you can follow Penguin(´s kids) here on Instagram π
Signs. In these darn times signs of "I care about you" are so important, don´t you think?
I felt spoiled yesterday!
And Henry π¦?
Thank you all and sorry for being honest. But I´d felt bad if I lied and said "thank you, awesome!!!" - it is awesome - just in another way and, yes, I´ll keep your book and will always smile and Niece gets the other.
Let´s take care of each other, always.

Nothing wrong with Christmas in January! :-)
So ... you will be showered with gifts! And you also get 28 degrees Celsius! You no longer need to heat your house! That's saving for a vacation at Phillippines! LOL π
If you've read the penguin book you should review it for us, ok?
About the friend Jamie ... I can't find the DVD ... I keep looking!
Ich hab dich liiiieb mein Hathi!!! π
P.s Give my regards to Henry! π
...Iris, I'm glad that you have discovered the joy of cooking. You seems to receive a lot of interesting mail, we only get junk mail! Thanks for coming to the party, take care.
Admittedly I never learned to cook.
Shari, I still have a Chrsitmas-pressie waiting for departure for Australia - they still have code orange ;-)
____
Ellla, haha, wish we had 28C! But it climbed up to 4 at least ;-)
I have read the book, I have an older version here - it´s very bitter-sweet and so worth a read. I will re-read it, certainly! But you can buy it straight away, no regrets, I promise!
With Jamie... take it easy, no worries, OK?
Ich hab dich liiiieb mein π¦!!! And Henry says hi, too π¦π§‘
____
Tom, mostly it´s junk mail here, also! ;-)
____
William, it´s easy, fun, cheap and you can do what you want - maybe give it a go?
Nice presents. You are lucky to have such good friends.
Yes. And also thankful! Now I´d only like to know who sent me the pressie?
Enjoy your gifts and another cool Henry
I sent you the Penguin book Iris for your birthday.
Sorry, totally forgot to put my name in the message, but did did they send you the invoice, when that was requested to be sent to me?
I tried to order earlier from Book depository, but couldn't get delivery to Germany, so had to search around for another online bookshop that would deliver to Germany.
What a pity you already had the book, so hope your niece likes it. The movie was released last week and I thought you would like the story.
Lucky girl then with so many parcels received the same day :)
You certainly were spoiled Iris and why not I say, everyone deserves to be spoiled now and then π you know you can post things to Australia, I get parcels often. The post is working well!
Kathy, I do and Henry does, too!
____
Sami, thank you!!! Thank you and sorry!!!! Oh, a movie on this???? I´ll look out for that!
AND Grace, too, Lille Corinna II is for both of you! She still sits here and have a look here: Australia still has code orange for Germany or at least Northern Germany. Can Karina send things home?
(Well it´s just a sweet thingy, I won´t bother her, just interested if the South can)?
What wonderful things have happened into your world! Oh, it does make you feel so special, doesn't it (and you are!). We are still getting Christmas mail here, too. I got a card from Japan on Saturday. Mail appears to be slow everywhere!
I love your car! It belongs on a safari!
Not sure about Karina posting stuff to Australia. Right now she's busy unpacking, they received their container last week and rented a house in Cologne too, so lots to do for a few weeks.
I have things she had ordered on the net delivered here as she was meant to come here last March, and when it was cancelled she thought she could make it September...
so I was waiting to send it to her once she settles down, although I try not to send air postage from here as it's so, so expensive.
Penguin Bloom is out in the movie houses here since the 21st January, but also on Netflix since yesterday. Hopefully I'll get some time to sit down and watch it on the weekend :)
All that mail in one day, how nice and happy you must have felt. Enjoy and have a nice evening.
Fine collection of signs. Thank you for telling us about Penguin Bloom, the magpie that saved a family. What a heart warming story which is good to hear with our current pandemic.
We bought that Jamie book at Christmas. I've tried a few recipes.
The mail brought me a parcel from Sweden last week that was meant for Christmas - Chocolates!
Great.
Hard Copy Of Cook Books Are Priceless - Excellent Photos - Be Well
Cheers
I am so happy your received a gift and didn't know who from until now. That makes it even more exciting. You are loved. Have a nice evening.
How exciting getting all that mail at one time, even if it has taken ages to arrive. Better late than never, as they say :)
Nice mail day Iris. I like an actual cookbook too. And looking for recipes is a favorite thing of mine to do also. And nice calendar. I guessed it was from Steveson when I saw Philippines. That is cool. And birds are very cool and some of them are so smart. I love your Australia story. Let us know how the book is. It sounds great. Hope the week is going well.
You sure had a wonderful day filled with signs of love gifted to you! Way to be,
Actually, it's great to get a gift at the end of January. And I also like to feel a book in my hands. No kindle for me EVER. Just paper books.
I had a lot of freedom in kitchen. Maybe I should blog about that instead of trump, work, and or covid.
Coffee is on and stay safe
I did not know Penguin bloom was also a book. I plan to see the movie when it comes to my city, but maybe I will buy the book also.
Jeanie, yes, from time to time you get a real good day!
____
Jeff, "he" was (in German cars are male and this one sure does not look like a lady!). We traveled all through the Outback with him, he was our car, our bedroom and sometimes even our donner-place :-)
____
Sami, wow, they haosue?!!! Boy! Now that is wonderful!!!
Sadly... certainly! - we don´t have Netflix - we´d get it in German, nahhhh, I don´t want that. But I´ll keep looking when it´s on DVD!
____
Bill, I did! :-)
____
Taken For Granted, yes, we need stories like that now more than ever!
____
RedPat, we sure will remember this weird year/years! Chocolates from Sweden? Isn´t that rather Switzerland? ;-) So far just browesed through Jamie´s 7, some sound YUM!
____
Jim: Yes :-)
____
Padre, yes, I hope Niece will value that! Cheers
____
Nicole, yes, I sure was happliy puzzled! And am happy the most I know exactly how (just not when) to return the favor!
____
Margaret, yes, sad I cannot - at the (loong) moment return the favor!
____
Erika, the book is great, I´ve had read it before, just go and buy, you´ll love it :-) As Jamie´s, great, too!
____
magiceye, yes, I smiled all day long!
____
Elizabeth, hmmm, depends, sometimes the kindle is handy, when out and about - lightweight and a choice of many books!
____
Dora, YES! No more Trump, LOL, kitchen-freedom is much better!
____
River, do, it´s bitter-sweet and comes with cute pics. Oh, I so hope to see the movie, too! Bet I´ll cry.
My oh My dearest Iris!!! I am so so happy it came there! Through postcrossing, I am seeing a huge leap in the speed of Philippines-Germany mail comparing to the last parts of the year. I am so so happy you like my mini wishes and I will take note of what you said about Packstations.
Oh dear Iris I'm really so happy! I know I have been postcrossing for a long time but still, everytime a card of mine arrives on some place I have never been to, it still feels like the first time! Thank you so much and sending you more hugs!
PS I am so late to read this and comment, I wasn't able to work last night, not feeling well :( But I'm better now after a very long series of sleeps!
Dearest Stevenson, hope you really are well again!
Yes your card was such a happy surprise, even better as if it had arrived for Christmas! Gee. Mine is still on the way to you?! I should´ve called it Corinna again, LOL!
It did postcrossing a while ago, too, but then it was so... impersonal? I prefer to really "know" the persons", and thanks blogger I know enough nice persons now :-)
Hope piggy makes it´s way to you - it´s not from Braunschweig!
