This is a dish my Mum used to make, Beamtenstippe.
Clerks (Beamte) were rather poor so this was a cheap dish back then, but we made it YUM!
Me, I got out the Singer.
For...
Just to make a border for this:
Why this 70´s-galore? My Mum gave birth to me 49 years ago, in the beautiful, wild Seventies 💃, I miss her so much right now.
Darn cancer, I truly hate you. Bet Bro/the Nieces will call and I´m supposed/expected to sound happy.
I try to smile. As long as we think of our lost ones they´re still here, right, so:
To you, Mum.
To you.
Wish I could give you a hug.
You were so tiny in the last years. And yet... we could laugh our heads off at times. You were a warrior!
Hope the wood-strawberries you got with me 47 years ago will make it - they´re on our balcony, here in Braunschweig, you know? Yes, they moved! You never knew. But I take care.
I take care of the things we shared, don´t you worry.
To Dad, too.
I was not planned and then but a girl... you accepted me, you loved me, you gave me this name, as you were an optometrist (Iris - retina). A friend once said I can be glad you were no heart-surgeon. I might´ve ended up with the name Aorta 🤣
I miss you, too. You never got to know your Grandkids. So sad.
To my parents.
I dreamed of my family home the last nights, it is scary. Why does my brain do this?
I was always searching for something in those dreams, woke up exhausted.
Well. You two are in my heart. And we just move on, right.
Certainly... a lille page - I took Jo´s advice and think, yupp, much better with the lines, huh?
Henry 🦁... sneaks up at Ingo today:
Have a happy T (this guy was made in the 60´s, just sayin´...)!

Happy birthday baby! 🎈🕯️🎂
You are a good prototype of the 70s! LOL
I recognize all the memories about the parents very well ... and more, around the date of my birth they are more vivid than ever ...
I hope you have a good day and that you get more attention from the master of the T-shirt with Henry!!!
Ich hab dich liiiieb mein Hathi!!!
xoxo
Thank you, Ella, Prototype, LOL. Yes, my Brother was the second one and "mayyyybe" better 😂
So. I´m not crazy after all with those memories. Good to know - is the first time!
Well, Ingo is at work, lucky him, but we´ll watch The Simpsons as a treat for sure 😀
Ich hab dich liiiieb mein 🦋 xoxo
Happy birthday Iris, hope you have a wonderful day.
Your parents both died too young :(
That wallpaper is almost exactly like the one we had in the first apartment in lived in Braunschweig - USA apartments, only it was in white and various shades of green. It did make me smile, lol.
I like the colour of your sewing machine too of course :)
Sami, yes, too young they had to leave.
We had a wallpaper nearly like that, also!
Color-post to come sometime soon :-)
Happy birthday Iris! Warm virtual hugs all the way from hot Mumbai! Cheers!
...HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 49, you are a bit younger that my son. Keep smiling, you are young.
magiceye, thank you, hope some temps come over, too :-) Cheers!

____
Shari, thank you. The years run by...
I was 49 once. Now I am 75. Happy birthday, Iris. Aloha from Hawaii. When I first saw your name, I did not think of the eye, I thought of the flower. Lol.
I love your 70s "Smile" piece. Fond memories for me, as I'd've been a teenager when you were born :) Happy T Tuesday!
gigi, thank you :-) Aloha! To Hawaii! At least we know how to pronounce this!
Yes, Dad made a card for my Mum with the flower later. She was kinda.. annoyed of him telling people of his interpretation ;-)
Happy Birthday sweet lady. I too miss my mom. It is the laughing memories and loving hugs that let us know how much we were loved. You have great memories of the 70's Have a wonderful day.
I hope you have a wondrous birthday, dear. I absolutely LOVE your new calendar. I love how you draw in it so well. You put mine to shame.
Your smoothie sounds delicious. I haven't had a smoothie for YEARS. Thanks for sharing your birthday, your calendar, and your smoothie with us for T this Tuesday, dear Iris.
Beautiful 70s artwork and a wonderful tribute to your mum and dad too, cancer is a horrible disease and takes life from those we love way to early - thinking of you and sending you hugs ❤️. Your journal pages look fabulous, I love how you added the happy rainbow coloured lines - perfect! Take care and wishing you a very Happy T Day! Hugs, Jo x
Happy Birthday!
I had a dream with my Mum last night. It was good to see her.
Happy Birthday, Iris! and to many more. Now you're a year wiser :)
First of all thank you so much for sharing links to the meals you make as I am not at all familiar with traditional older German recipes.
Love that retro "smile" card, and I was in my late teens and into early twenties during the seventies. to this day the seventies music is still my very favorite:):) Happy birthday to you you youngster!!
A poignant and lovely note to your parents who left this world too soon.
Love your planner pages - those colorful lines have made a big difference- well done!
hello Ingo; enjoy your special day Iris, and happy T day!
I love your art page and all the reminiscences of your family. I know what you mean about missing them so. Me, too. It never goes away, does it. And maybe it shouldn't.
I love that you were named Iris and the connection to your dad's occupation. I knew what he did from other posts but I never put together the job and your name! Very cool!
Happy birthday, Iris!
Alles zum Geburtstag! 🎂💐Comfort food and memories of loved ones. Beautiful Happy T Day!
Happy 49th! I was born in 1951 so the seventies were my fun years, as I was in my twenties then. I traveled a lot, went to uni, lived away from home and had lots of fun.
How lovely that your dad named you Iris. I know he was an optometrist, but hadn't seen the link....
Happy T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca
I love your letter to your parents, as I am guessing that is what post is. My mom is alive but with no short term memory, I can tell her everything I want and she won't know it 5 minutes later. Sad, but we can still laugh. So that part of your letter spoke to me. Happy birthday to you. Hope it is a good one. Hugs-Erika
Wonderful thoughts of your parents for your birthday.
Love the bit of stitching on your page as well as your journaling. Love the lines you added and all the colored images.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
Happy Birthday :) You are just one year older than my oldest, she is 48 next month. When I was 49 I was already a grandmother three times :)
My parents died from cancers too, Dad was always thin, so didn't look much different near the end, but Mum was once over 200 pounds, about 215 I think and in her last months she shrunk and looked the size of someone 10 years old.
Nicole, thank you, yes, the laughing memories, they make a day! And remembering the colorful 70´s, of course!
____
Elizabeth, thank you, family called - it was nice!
Nono, I don´t want to put anyone to shame! Shame is rather on me, those figures don´t even have hands or feet, LOL!
The smoothie was yummy indeed.
____
Jo, thank you, yupp, the lines will stay! :-) Hugs back x
____
RedPat, thank you. Dreamed of my Dad again. He looked healthy.
____
Linda, this is how we make Beamtenstippe, kinda.
Cool, it must´ve been great to be that age in the 70´s!!! You could really PARTY! My fav music, still, too!
____
Jeanie, yes, it should not go away!
Yup, that was Dad :-)
_____
William, thank you.
____
CJ thank ... ummm, danke! :-)
____
Lisca, WOW, you sure are lucky to have been cool in those years, I just could look on and the 80´s and 90´s were terrible! LOL...
Yup, Dad was... Dad :-)
____
Erika, yes, somehow this post turned into a letter to them, happened just like that. Bitter-sweet with your Mom. Hugs back!
____
Kate, thank you, especially the stitching is fun. If only I knew what to make "for real"...
____
River, what, a grandmother, oh, help, if I imagine I would...! Funny thought! Ingo´s Brother is my age and his oldest is an adult already, too, maybe even a Dad? (contact is too loose).
Oh, help, why do you use the pound? A pint I get (beer, right) and feet due to football, but, heck, always have to look this up.
This.darn.cancer. Sorry it happened to your parents, also.
I hope you had a great birthday Iris. I miss my mum and dad as well, I am glad I have happy memories of them both. Hugz, Mxx
215 pounds = 97.7kgs or just over 15 stone. Too heavy for a woman only 5 feet 2 inches.
Belated happy birthday, Iris!
You wrote a beautiful tribute to your parents. Hold on to those happy memories. I have searching dreams like that too and wake up exhausted. It's very common - especially for women.
Your journal pages are very cute and lively. Keep it up!
Belated Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
