Mish-Mash-Rant

Weee. Today just a mish-mash of unused pics that I still think are worth sharing, you decide...

Portal to a great weekend, everyone!!! See:

But... (to the rant-part):

Oh, I am so sick and tired of this!
When I was working I fought hard for using the male form in German and have a note that we  certainly also include the females in this.

Because:
Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter blablabla - where is the use, what is ... it´s just more reading and in the third passage they skipped "Mitarbeiterinnen" anyways!
There were two portals and the other did this at Volkswagen.
I kept nagging where the "Mitarbeiterinnen" went?
I never got ann answer.
And now in the news....
Always this stupid stuff for everything.

Takes longer, is of no information, no value!!!

So, if you want the women explicitly in it for "equality", why not men first?

This is what I hate about the German language.
Dear Politikerinnen and Politiker, dear Lehrerinnen and Lehrer - make it STOP!
Where is the use of this????

What do you think? Same in your mother tongue´s language?

Henry 🦁?

He thinks he´s in a nut-house, lost his marbles!

OK, laugh and have a wonderful weekend!

Addendum: In applications I always use the easy, male form Ingenieur, not Ingenieurin.

Weekend???? Yes you're right. Time flies.
In Dutch politicus-politica. Leraar-lerares. Juf(female teacher), meester (male teacher)

Now you got me! What day is it??? Seesh, being out of work is confusing.
Yes. Is that of any use? At least yours isn´t that looooong! Though Juf and meester is really different!
But. Do we really need this?!

My first language is English, so the concept of noun gender is for me a curiosity. I just wish that in English, we had a gender-neutral pronoun that we could use when speaking of people. It's so weird to think that, let's say you'd read a book by someone naned Terry Smith, that you couldn't really talk much about it without figuring out whether to use "he" or "she" in your conversation.

Henry looks handsome!

Yeah, one of the peculiarities of language. We don't have that problem in English.

Mae, oh, yes!

____

Bill, to a wonderful one!

____

Jeff, Andrea Bocelli comes to mind - in German that´s strictly a female first name!
But what I meant was that for the same position like a teacher you have a male and female title. Stupid! Especially as names are really clear over here.

____

RedPat, really? I think he looks aggressive in this one. You saved him :-)

_____

gigi, lucky you!

Love these photos. My first language is US English, people say it is the hardest one to learn. Well it is even for Americans. LOL I also speak Spanish, wish is backwards to English and some German. Very little German. Enjoy your weekend.

Language is odd in any country. I love that blue sky against the cinnamon coloured building.

Nicole, really? I found French much harder. And I still am sad I didn´t learn Spanish, so useful! But I can´t as it´s so close to French. Aw, well, to a great weekend!

____

River, yes. Especially yours! A friend advised me to take a brolly. Me: ??? Him: Um-bre-lla! LOL. Hmmmm... cinammon! Nice thought!

Mitarbeiterinnen .... what a word! The Dutch language also has its endless words, but that seems even more difficult ... especially in a conversation!
But I see you're already taking lessons in Dutch .... LOL
Ich hab dich liiiieb mein Hathi!!! xoxo

My dad would say that one of the weird things about the English language is the abundance of words with silent letters.
