The Ocean Is Here

So I went off to get the ocean from Packstation. Bear with me! We´re stuck here!

Pic: Esperance, the museum where they have parts of the Skylab  that came down there. The United states still owe them a sum for dumping it there, LOL!
(very cool link - shower/sexy man included, have a look and also see where Esperance is)

No, really, I parked our big Nissan there and when we came out... HUH, What is this?! A green Holden Commodore, just like the one we had in 1995, right beside our "new" one!
Crazy (wasn´t ours, I had a look, no rip in the driver´s seat).

The Packstation is maybe a 5 minutes walk, bet you have an idea what happened?
Well, biiiiig dog in the way. I went onto the other side of our lille street.

Then. Red jacket - W!

How??? How can that be I meet this one neighbor all the time, LOL!
He came over and  - masks on - we chatted for at least 30 minutes. To my Aussie friends: It´s winter over here, 2 to 3 C.

He is not allowed to meet his wife in the nursing home at.all. Shit#y Corinna.
So he walks there, stands in the cold, she comes to the window and they cheer at each other, but the meds made her "silent", no talking no more, it is sad, and yes, I repeat myself, but it´s just not fair. He is "tested" negative, so why not let him inside. They destroy people´s lifes for no reason.

Next time I meet him I´ll invite him for a game of billiard, maybe he´s better than Ingo (who is better than me).
When he was here for the onion-cake he saw and thought it´s great we have a (small) billiard-table, so... some fun-times ahead?

Really, it´s crazy, I never meet other neighbors, party of 14 here, just W!

When I finally after... what... way over half an hour later...  came home with the ocean (that Ingo had to take care of, sound-wise, thank you BIG, Hubby), he just said:

"Met W again? Was about to look out for ya.... but the weather..."

We cannot get to the ocean - FB just reminded me 2019 we really were in Perth NOW, in fact we enjoyed our very first Australia Day.
I had to get the ocean to us, somehow, huh.
Please, turn on the sound, if you like, you´ll even hear happy seagulls!
(Someone might even recognize the painting at the beginning and end, yes, you made me a big fan of Wendy´s, Grace!)

Henry 🦁... He looks at his siblings in Cottesloe at the Indiana and says:

Wish we were there. At least I have Penguin (thank you, Sami!) to read about, right, always look on the bright side of life. Oh, sorry, LOL!

Here goes! (oh, come on. We need to keep our humor, right.)

Are you crazy???!!! What are the temps in your ocean over there? 8 C?
I remember summer days at the north sea, summer - 14C!!! The water-temp! You´ll freeze!
Ich hab dich liiiieb mein 🦋 - please wait till summer, and yes, Ingo wanted to have this in the bedroom, but it´d drive me nuts. I wear ear protection...
In fact the music was for helping me sleep but no. I.need.SILENCE.
Happy day in the warmth for you xoxo

Just saw a clip from the Irish national broadcaster about people sea swimming through the winter here, even when there's ice on the ground. :-)

Today it is also rain and gray here ... well, it is winter!
Are you not familiar with the Dutch tradition with New Year's Day ?! Precisely at 12 o'clock they are going to swim in the Nord sea!
And if I go for a swim ... go to the indoor pool! Lekker puh! (neener-neener!!!)

Iris Flavia said...

Shari, I would NEVER join!

___

Ella, yes, some "Fischköppe" do that here, also. Not me, never ever, yes, go indoors :-) Have fun! We don´t have good ones here, sadly, I know swimming would be great, esp with my darn scoliosis... Not sure if it´s clean here, once got a ... eeeek.

"Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" is one of my favorite songs and one I want at my funeral. And I love "Life of Brian." An annual viewing tradition!

I miss the ocean too. I'm glad you see W -- I'm sure it means a great deal to have someone to talk with, especially with his wife in care. So sad they can't be together. I understand -- and I don't.

Anne, thank you.

Mae, yes :-)
Wasn´t sure, thought some may say "how can you, in these times!!!" Glad that´s not the case.

____

Tom, yes, so far away...

____

Jeanie, good idea for a funeral, let´s have the last laugh on ourselves!
No I don´t understand W´s nursery-home-made-pain, either. Sad.

Oh my dearest Iris! Reading about W makes me so so so sad! Especially them standing on her window just to say Hi, that breaks my heart so much! I just hope and pray for the best they they both live longer and more hopeful so when all this is over, they can still meet again. I am very hopeful for it!

PS I left a comment on your post yesterday. As Usual I am super late but the happiness I had from your last post was still full and filled!

I do like your experiment with your car in the "ocean". It turned out well for you, and for the car. You asked about the Ram's head sculpture in my blog today. Here is all I know. It is on the Sioux Falls, South Dakota sculpture walk, and is by a local artist, Travis Sorenson. The piece is 36" high and 24" wide, and it is for sale with an asking price of $20,000, and I doubt that includes shipping or sales tex (6.5%). It will stay on display until May or June when it will be replaced by new sculptures. Have a great weekend.

The ocean has always been close by for me since I was born.
Nice evening to you!

It would be terrible to have a loved on in a nursing home right now. Yes, I guess if you can't get to the ocean, you must make the ocean come to you!

Oooh the story of your neighbour...so sad

The scene you described of W on the street and his wife at a window above chatting with each other reminded me of Romeo and Juliet. Sad though that they have to go through such terrible times. Hope she recovers soon and they can be together soonest.

Oh that has to be hard to realize that time has passed and we are stuck with covid. UGH! Last trip for me was 11 months ago and it'll be probably at least 11 more before we can go anyplace. Stuck in the middle of winter. Cold and snow. But you did cheer me up with that Monty Python piece. Now it is in my head but that is a GOOD thing. Love those guys. Hugs-Erika

So glad you still manage to meet up with your neighbour. How sad that he cannot visit his wife.
I liked the ocean sounds and your ocean stone is quite beautiful.
We didn't go to Australia Day this year, it was people restricted, so you had to apply for free tickets, but I couldn't be bothered. No fireworks, just a different type of show. There will be more to come :)

peppylady (Dora) said...

Gee I would have to drive a good 7 hours to see the ocean. The covid never had to be this way. Only if a larger percent of population follow some simple rules.
Coffee is on and stay safe

Dearest Stevenson, honestly I have no high hopes for W´s wife. She suffers Alzheimer´s and has had several strokes and heart attacks.

I did answer you on your comment :-)
Of course!

____

Taken For Granted, thank you, also for explaining the ram to me!
LOL, 20 000 without shipping, no, then I´m not in ;-) Wow, quite a price! A great weekend to you, too!

____

Bill, lucky you, a nice day, enjoy the ocean!

____

Spare Parts and Pics, yes, and she will never come home again (Alzheimer´s "etc"). She loved to swim, came from Kiel, at the ocean, double-sad.

____

Bertiebo, yes. He said ... oh, well, you can guess...

____

magiceye, a nice thought of Romeo and Juliet. But far from reality. She suffers Alzheimer´s, had several strokes and at least two heart attacks, she will never be able to go home and who knows if she even knows "the man" standing there. Reckon the staff tell her to go and have a look...

____

Erika, yes, when can we be free to do anything again? Luckily no know but also only 1C here. Glad that song cheered you up! Huh, I really was thinking, hmmm... in- or not inappropriate? Glad most have some healthy humor, hugs!

____

Sami, yes, our "hard lockdown" isn´t really hard, sooo many people out and about.
Why was Australia Day people restricted even though you have no cases? Looking forward to learn about the different type of show! :-)

____

Dora, yes, several hours to see the ocean here, too, and then it´s a cold and maybe rather brown one.
Agreed - if people were using their brains we´s be out of this madness long ago!!
